Andrea, I agree, Shakespeare is wonderful <3 I hated his work when I was a teenager, but now appreciate it more every year!

message 3705: by Kathi (new)

Kathi | 1 comments Hello everyone :). I'm Katharina.

I love reading books, I read almost everything that I can get (young adult and horror excluded) but my passion is with the classics. I've already read many but I'm always happy to get new recommendations or have a nice reread. My favourite so far is Dostoyevskys "The Idiot". But I've read Austen, Dickens, Barrie, Melville, Brontë, Stoker, Hemingway, Twain, Hugo, Molière, Voltaire, Tolstoi, Dostoyevsky and so on :). (Which all are my favourites ^^)

I love discussing books and I love it even more to get to know different opinions about them and why and how the impressions differ that much while reading. Feel free to share your thoughts with me, I would be happy to read them :).

I hope to have some great book discussions and a great time :). Read you soon.

Hello everyone, my name is Tara. I'm from the United States. I love classic literature, and books in general . Dostoevsky is my favorite author of all time. I've been a lurker in this group for awhile, and thought I'd finally try actually participating. I'm pretty shy, but am looking forward to discussing the classics with everybody in the near future!

Hi Tara! I'm glad you decided to introduce yourself. I'm normally a very shy person, and am usually just a lurker too. This is a great group though with very friendly and supportive people, and I've actually started commenting a little more instead of just lurking. I look forward to discussing classics with you.

Pedro (integratedwhole) | 5 comments Hi, I'm Pedro from Brazil. I have been reading Classics a lot more in the last couple of years , especially the ones from Russian literature, which is the one that echoes with me the most , even more than my own.
This profile was created some months ago with the purpose of exchange insights, impressions and reading experiences, however due to a hopeless lack of time I was much less active than I would like. Now, however, I hope to be more active and able to interact with you more, very nice community , by the way.

Deborah Kirkland Hello all. My name is Deborah. I live in Texas. I teach Freshmen Composition at the local university here. I am also a therapist in private practice part time.
I have loved reading ever since I was a child. When I was working on my Masters degrees, I didn't have time to read. Now that I have graduated, I'm trying to make up for lost time. Among my favorite authors include Jane Austen, both the Bronte sisters, and Margaret Atwood. I just got through re-reading the Harry Potter series and have ordered the Once and Future King. Since the Harry Potter story is essentially a re-telling of the Once and Future King (or so i've been told), I figured I had better read it.

Welcome, good to hear from another Texan and sounds like we have some reading interests in common as well. I am fairly new on this group as well, but am looking forward to some of the books being suggested for Feb. I have several planned reads for Jan but hope to jump in in Feb. I am already enjoying this group.

Bea Hi, I live in Antwerp (Belgium, Europe)I just joined this group. I love reading (obviously). I try to read English or French books in their original language, as for the others I read a Dutch translation.
I'm a retired anesthesiologist. As my daughter is 20 years old and studying at the moment, I have a lot of time to catch up my reading and I hope to read or re-read the classics with this group. My favourite is LOTR.

Hi y'all. I'm Pam from Indiana. I'm 38 and work as a bookseller in an independent bookstore here. I'm married but no kids.

I read a lot more contemporary literary fiction, history, anthropology & religious books from all religions. I have a ton of the Barnes & Nobles classics loaded onto my reader and figure this is a good group to work through reading all those ;).

Other than reading I also run & occasionally knit. Do some traveling too.
