Wowwww, welcome everyone! :) Gavin, Leanne (I recognize you from Lit Expl! Hi!), Andie, Janina, Ffi, Pink Avenger aka Lauren, and Jackie, so nice to have everyone join us. Should be some fun read discussions!

Who likes cocoa? I am preparing some for all :)"
Me too! And ... me! :D

My name is Rachel, and I live in Dallas, Texas. I work at a mortgage company by day, and at night am working on getting my teaching certificate. I am wanting to become a middle school English teacher. I was estatic to find a group that was devouted to the classics because I know for sure I need to brush up on my classic novels.
When my nose it not in a book, I am hanging out with my boyfriend, family, and friends. I am a movie buff, and love catching a movie at my local indie theater. Also, I love sports and enjoying cheering on my Texas Rangers, Dallas Stars, and Kansas Jayhawks.
Can't wait to start discussing all these wonderful books with y'all.
Wow! What a fun bunch of new members! Welcome all. Hopefully I welcomed you by PM too. So excited to get our 1000 members and I look forward to the new voices in our discussions along with our older voices too.

Currently I am reading Jane Eyre, and despite my constantly looking for words in the dictionary, I am sincerely enjoying it.
Hope didn't make too much mistakes in the comment -.- .

Or, if you'd rather not 'join the hunt', to at least consider contributing two new items to our tally sheet of items to collect :D. One of our participants is almost finished with BOARD TWO, which is the Board currently still open to add-ons (both Boards are open to new hunters joining, though). I'd like to give Apoorv more items to hunt up ;-). Can't make it too easy for him! LOL!!!!
I also invite you to join any of our challenges. They are all open for new participants (for the 'Collecting Dust' challenges, sign up at the most recent month posted).

To the new members, kindly do join in the scavenger hunts (both boards if you may.. ofcourse with due permission from MK).. its an amazing way to read your books more intently and ofcourse at the end of it you get to show off your hunts O:) LOL ! (Kidding :P)
MK and all the other contributors have come up with some really interesting items to find.. I urge you to join in.. more the participants, more the fun ! :)
Let's go scavenger hunting ! :)
Here are the links to both the boards once again for reference and ease for the access to the same :
Board One : Scavenger Hunt : BOARD ONE
Board Two : Scavenger Hunt : BOARD TWO

I'll add a couple items to the Board Two hunt.
Welcome, welcome all! Hope you join in our challenges/games & book reads. So excited to get to know each of you.

Thanks to Kyle and Miranda for joining the hunt! And for having new items to be collected, in the scavenger hunt :)

I'll add a couple items to the Board Two hunt."
Oops, I didn't say hello and welcome! So, howdy! Glad to have you join us :)

I am a businessman and, in my free time, I like to talk about books and literature. I also love coffee, music, cooking, and Fidel and Cássia, my two dogs. I like to be at home, especially because reading is one of my favorite activities.
I didn't really have time to read much when I was in college, so I've been trying to catch up since I graduated three years ago. I had heard of GoodReads then, but only now did I join this community. I haven't even added all the books I've read to my shelves.
I love literature because it provides us with a wide array of experiences and feelings. Because I am Brazilian, I can't help but love Érico Veríssimo, Machado de Assis and Jorge Amado. They are, to me, the very best in Brazilian literature and in literature in Portuguese.
I also love García Márquez, Mia Couto, Saramago and Faulkner. They are the authors of the best books I've read so far.
Poetry draws me like nothing else. My favorite poet is the Brazilian genius Manoel de Barros.
I hope I can learn with and from you guys. This seems to be a very nice community and I feel very welcome. Kathy even sent me a welcome-to-the-group message!
Hello to the group,
My name is Greg. I live in Idaho. I noticed you also do Kathy. A special hello to a fellow Idahoan.
My reading interests are mainly contemporary then classic literature. This is a new development for me. Literature was always a dirty word that I had trouble spelling. Now though, I find I would rather read the good stuff.
I do occasionally read science fiction/fantasy, non-fiction and will even enter into genres that I rarely visit (presently reading Lonesome Dove, what a great book).
Beside Lonesome Dove I am also reading Wild by Cheryl Strayed.
I may not have joined but for the books you are reading this month and next. Slaughter 5 and A Clockwork Orange. I recently read both and was blown away. I can't praise them enough. I would love to add to the discussion. I am not here just for those two though. Now that I have joined I plan on enjoying the group for some time. BTW, my hesitation in joining is only due to the time technology seems to take away from life. I try to limit it.
As I alluded to, my reading interests have changed. What a wonderful thing to have happen at this point in my life. I suddenly have countless books available to me that I have never read or never heard of. It is a sad thing when ones reading interests hit a wall. What I have is the opposite. The world of books is wide open.
I look forward to being part of the group and sharing discussions about our books.
I will close with a small sample of some of my favorite books.
Tigana by Guy Gavriel Kay
Something Wicked This way Comes by Ray Bradbury
The Sea by John Banville
Slaughter House 5 by Kurt Vonnegut
Little Children by Tom Perrotta
The Reader by Bernhard Schlink
And my all-time favorite author, although I don't read him much anymore, Ray Bradbury.

Nice set of books, Greg. Glad to have you here! Please feel free to add to any discussion. We keep them all open just in case someone wants to read a book on their own schedule.
BTW I hail from Middleton, Idaho. And you?

Kathy,
Thank you for the welcome. I live in the SE corner of the state near Idaho Falls. I have my entire life. I wouldn't want too much to be different other than I could go for the mild winters you enjoy. It is an exception this year but often the lawn isn't clear of snow until the end of April or even into May.

Greg, Idaho Falls is a beautiful city. I was married there. And it snow that morning -- a June 3rd. That is an Idaho spring for you! By the afternoon it was warm and sunny.
Welcome Gresa! I am so glad that you bring your international flavor to the group. It is nice to have a world-wide friendship with so many different people. I am glad your friend invited you here too!!

Hi! Nice to meet you! ;-)

My name is Jessica. I am a junior in college majoring in English Literature with a history minor. I don't really have a set genre that I read, but I usually gravitate towards contemporary and classics.
I am looking forward to reading all the books lines up! This group is perfect for me to get a crack on all the books that have been on my To-Read List and it will be so nice to talk about them with fellow book lovers :)

I'm Xhulia from Albania. I study law but also enjoy reading good books. I hope we have interesting discussions. :)
Welcome Jessica. Always nice to have another book lover aboard. And welcome also to Xhulia ~ I look forward to your comments in the discussions too.
Wowo another Albanian fellow around. :P Welcome here!

That's the coolest reply I have ever seen..

I'm Haley and I am finishing up my MA in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) here in Oregon and I joined the group to remind myself to catch up on some of the classics I have been neglecting over the years. I have always been an avid reader with fantasy and sci-fi being my favored genres, but the classics are too interesting to neglect for too long :-)

I'm Julia and I'm currently doing my BA in History and Literature plus working a full-time job. For me, it's hard sometimes to remember to not only pick up the fast reads on my shelves, but also: the classics. I saw the group read for May is going to be Harper Lee's To Kill a Mocking Bird - a book that has been collecting dust on my TBR pile for ages now...
So looking forward to reading & discussing! :)
Welcome Haley & Julia.
Glad to have you both here in the group. Nice to see that you are ready to read & discuss the classics with us.
Looking forward to reading your comments.
