Brina Wendy welcome. This is a great place to find the name of that elusive classic. I graduated hs in the 90s as well and had a similar lot course, and now I won't be able to sleep either. I hope you enjoy reading the books in this group.

If you can figure it out, let me know... I can even tell you it was around 200 to 300 pages and the cover was purple, and I can almost see the wheel on the cover.
UGH!!!!

message 2904: by Dianne (new)

Dianne Wendy, was it the wheel of time series by Robert Jordan? That's a uk fantasy series that sounds like what you are describing

message 2905: by Wendy (last edited Jul 25, 2016 06:41PM) (new)

Wendy Toth | 6 comments I will check into that... Is it a classic? I know for fact it was a literally classic, nothing that would of come out in the 80's or 90's. She had us reading all the British Classics/American Classics.
Just checked, that's not it. Thanks for trying though...

Victoria Hi everyone,

My name is Victoria and I am a native Californian currently living in Paris. While I was earning my bachelor's I was unable to keep up as much personal reading as I would have hoped, and then most recently I've read some modern's that I just could not appreciate, so I'm headed back into classics!

In my spare time not spent reading, I am attempting to write my own book and I am an amateur photographer.

message 2924: by Brina (new)

Brina Welcome Victoria. It sounds exciting to live in Paris, write, and take photographs. This is a great place to be to read classics. There are lots of choices each month and great discussions. Hope you enjoy reading in the group.

Renee | 5 comments Hi! I'm Renee. I live in New Hampshire. I'm a mom to 2 boys, 9 and 5. Step mom to 2 girls 15 and 7..... 1 husband and 4 cats.

Love, love, love to read.... Generally I have 3 books going... one "hard copy" book that I carry with me wherever I go and have 2 audio books going in the car... One I listen to with the kids and one I listen to on my own.

Some of my favorite books are (no particular order) Poisonwood Bible, Secret Life of Bees, Harry Potter Series, Game of Thrones series.

I knit and write fanfiction as well.

Looking forward to reading/rereading the classics.

Hey, Wendy, you might want to try starting a thread describing the book in this group here.

https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...

The whole point of the group is to help people find books they can't remember the name of! I have a thread on there for a book I read in school and can't remember the name of, but sadly no one's been about to tell me what it is. Hopefully you'll have more luck with it!

Here's the link to my thread in the group, if anyone wants to read the description of my book and see if they know what it is.

Hi, there :) We're a small publishing company in Pennsylvania that takes a twist on mainstream publishers. We represent a variety of authors, many of whom have a lot of activities in their spare time. A favorite genre of the company happens to be fantasy, we especially like Lord of the Rings and books of that nature :)

Bat-Cat | 986 comments Welcome to all the new members. This is a wonderful group and hope you all enjoy yourselves.

I have noticed that there has been an influx of New Englanders lately - Renee, Ruth, Metapen and .... sorry if I have missed anyone. I grew up in Connecticut, lived for about 5 years in New Hampshire, spent about another 5 years in Austria and have now lived almost the last 20 years in Texas - and what a change it was too. So, a very big welcome from a fellow Yankee!!!
