Thank you, I think my favorite classic would have to be Romeo and Juliet

Welcome Rachel! Excellent reads so far in your young life! :). Glad you're here to expand your classical journey with us! Enjoy and happy reading!

I'm glad you've all joined, whether you're new to classics, or if you already enjoy them, I hope you discover some more favourites with our group!
I look forward to getting to know you all better and discussing some great books :)

Already? It was published in 1862...

Wow I didn't know that, thank you

Welcome to the group Rachel & Sydney & happy reading. We look forward to discussing books with you.

Hi and welcome Chloe! You certainly have an eclectic taste in books! I'm sure that you'll enjoy yourself here because we tend to read an array of books, a little something for everyone! Happy reading! :)

Hi Dan and welcome! Hope you enjoy yourself here! Happy reading! :)
Hi and welcome Chloe & Dan. So nice to have more readers with us and we love the varied tastes that you have in books.
Hi all! My name is Wendy. I'm currently living in TX temporarily and couldn't find a book group in my area, so I decided to look for one online. A few months ago I developed a sudden urge to read some of the classics, so I read through Far From the Madding Crowd by Thomas Hardy, The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins, and Middlemarch by George Eliot. I loved every one of them! So, I joined this group because I want to read more of those books and I think it would nice to be able to share the experience with other readers.
I'll read just about anything, but I'm especially fond of literary fiction, science fiction, fantasy, history, and classics of course. Oh, and when I'm not reading I like to knit, draw, think about writing, and hang out with my daughter and husband.
I only wish I'd found this group earlier because I think we were reading Middlemarch at the same time. I would've loved to have joined in on the discussion.

We are glad you found us & welcome Wendy! You can still post your thoughts on Middlemarch in our discussion thread. It is never too late. I'm looking forward to you joining us in reading.

Hi Wendy and welcome! You'll enjoy yourself here, reading classics and have having discussions with members about the books we read. Feel free to jump in, anywhere! :)
Thank you so much everyone for the friendly welcomes! I'm going to look at those other discussions, and I'm going to start reading The Master and Margarita as well. That one's been sitting unread on my shelf for some time.

The most important thing I'm learning in my quest is that I think I read many classics way too young and should probably re-read some of them.
Actually I joined about the start of the year, but don't remember if I introduced myself then. So this is hello! I'm looking forward to some of the group reads.

Your comment that you may have read some classic when you were too young really resonates with me.
Since I've joined this group I've reread a couple of titles that I "read" while a teen in high school or as a young adult in my 20s.
I realize now after reading with older eyes, that I really didn't know what was going on in some of these books though I had a desire to read them and did read them!

Hi Judy and welcome! Glad you've finally introduced yourself!
This is definetily the place to "catch up" or "re-read" classics! It's excellent that you set a goal and are on track!
I'm looking forward to your thoughts and reviews on the books that you read,
Happy reading!

I love your introduction -- this is so me still. Welcome to the group!

Judy, I feel the same. In school, we only read a very few classics and studied them in depth. Then my teacher gave us a list of the books you should read before college-WHAT! lol
I agree with some of the rereads I have more understanding, or maybe a different understanding. And this group has introduced me to books I hadn't even heard of previously.
Hope you enjoy reading with us.

which Classic will you be reading next..?"
I might join the group for Master and Margarita (never heard of it, so how can it be a classic? right?). I asked my Facebook friends for recommendations and have a short list shelf for the ones that appealed to me: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...
Of these, I think Angle of Repose will be next.
ETA: Oh! I just discovered the Personal Challenge discussion topic. I definitely need to start a thread there.

My favorite author nowadays is a Turkish author, Orhan Pamuk. Glad to meet you all:)

Hello and welcome Imsoo! We're glad you're here! Happy reading! :)
Welcome to the group, Imsoo. We are all glad to meet you and to have you in our group. I look forward to discussing books with you.

I'm from England, grew up in Bath, and will graduate from high school in a few weeks. After I'm done with school, I'm going to travel around Europe for a while (so excited!) and I'd like to use that time to read- a lot. Especially British classics. Because my mother is German and wanted me to become proficient in German, I read a lot of German classics as a child, but neglected the British ones a little. Since I am going to study in England (London! Another thing to be excited about!) and will probably continue to live there, I'd like to catch up and finally read the works of Dickens, the Bronte sisters, and all those other English-speaking authors that I somehow missed out on. I'm going to start with To Kill a Mockingbird, even though I'll have to read fast to finish it before June...*lol*
