Please Introduce Yourself

Hi everyone! I'm Beth and I'm from Australia. I'm super eclectic in what I like to read but I do love my classics. Frankenstein, The Catcher in the Rye and The Great Gatsby are right at the top of my all time favourite books, I like a lot of gothic fiction and I really like Dostoyevsky and Orwell among others. Unfortunately though I feel sometimes like I neglect my classics so I thought this group might be a way to help curb this problem. Thanks guys, I hope everyone is well.

Hi and welcome Beth! We're happy you found this group to "Catch up on Classics"! I'm sure you'll enjoy the books and discussions. Actually we're reading 1984 by George Orwell for our November read. Enjoy!

Awesome, thanks for having me :)

Hi Yamini! Welcome! So glad you found us! You'll see that you made a fine choice becoming a member here. We read tremendous classics and have great discussions! There's nothing to be nervous about! All of the moderators are very nice and they have a wealth of knowledge! If you have any questions, I'm sure they'd be only too happy to help you! So sit back, read and most importantly, have fun!

Hi, I'm so glad that you've decided to join us, welcome to the group! Hopefully you'll find something to suit your tastes, as we have 5 different group reads each month. That certainly gives everyone a choice, though of course you're not obliged to read anything. Polls have just gone up for January! Book discussions are underway for November. Dive in with whatever takes your interest, we'll be happy to discuss classics, or just have a bookish chat. Any questions just ask :)

Hi Jan! Welcome! I'm sure you'll enjoy the classics and discussions here! Happy reading!

Wow this is such a nice group! Thanks everyone.

Hi Kathleen! One of my all time favorites is Wurthering Heights also! Love to meet others who agree! Welcome to the group and to Goodreads! Enjoy!

Thank you Loretta!

My pleasure Kathleen!
For personal reasons I have been absent for the past few weeks and may not be overly active for awhile longer, but I do want to welcome our newest members and wish them success in catching up on the classics.

Hi Kathleen and welcome to the group. I also loved The Once and Future King.

My name is Chaewon, and I'm a middle school student in South Korea!
I love reading books, and my favorite classic books are "The Wuthering Heights" and "The Great Gatsby". Though I haven't read many classics, I wish to become the ones who have.
The classic books I have read so far, they are all translated in Korean! So I thought reading a lot of English classics could be a good challenge for me. I hope I can improve my English reading and gain a lot of literature knowledge. Yay!
Sorry if my English is bad! :)
I'm very happy to join a great group, and I'll read my best!
Thank you!
Welcome to the group, Chaewon. Your English is very good, so happy to have you in the group -- Happy Reading

Welcome to the group, Katie. I'm a retired HS teacher and besides reading I also love to bike & run! And how cool that you remember getting into Classics from school. Happy Reading

Welcome to the group, Lisa. I hope you are enjoying the classics that you've read.

I am Jane an avid reader from Rhode Island, USA. I mostly read fiction and about three or four nonfiction books a year. While goodreads informs monthly of newly published books, I feel I am missing out on reading Good Books that stand the test of time. I read a lot of classics, mostly from the Victorian era and like that you offer new and old classics.

Thank you Ruth! I don't know many people who've read The Once and Future King--glad to meet someone else who likes it!

Hi Lisa! Welcome to the group! I'm pretty sure you're in the right group because we are all also voracious readers! Although we read mainly classics, some can be suspenseful and romantic! So sit back and enjoy!

Wuthering Heights is my favorite as well. At least it's my standard answer to the question "what's your favorite book", I have real trouble picking favorites in almost any category. Welcome to the group!
