Wuthering Heights is my favorite as well. At least it's my standard answer to the question "what's your favorite book", I have real trouble picking favorites in almost any category. Welcome to the group!

Pink | 5491 comments Hi Donna and Sarah, welcome to the group. Glad you've both decided to join and introduce yourselves. I hope you'll enjoy reading some great classics with us :)

Hi everyone! I'm Beth and I'm from Australia. I'm super eclectic in what I like to read but I do love my classics. Frankenstein, The Catcher in the Rye and The Great Gatsby are right at the top of my all time favourite books, I like a lot of gothic fiction and I really like Dostoyevsky and Orwell among others. Unfortunately though I feel sometimes like I neglect my classics so I thought this group might be a way to help curb this problem. Thanks guys, I hope everyone is well.

Hi and welcome Beth! We're happy you found this group to "Catch up on Classics"! I'm sure you'll enjoy the books and discussions. Actually we're reading 1984 by George Orwell for our November read. Enjoy!

Join in with whatever you fancy, whenever you have time, we'll be happy to discuss any of the books with you :)

shakespeareandspice Hey all! I’m Yamini (pronounced yah - mini as in “Minnie mouse”). I just joined after seeing lots of interesting posts on the group. My previous group is shutting down so I need a new one and this one looked very interesting. I basically read everything from classics to science fiction/fantasy to children’s fiction. Everything except mainstream YA, horror, and erotica. Although I don’t mind gothic reads by any means. It’ll likely take me a while to figure out how everything works here but I’m very excited (and nervous) to be part of this group. :)

Hi, I'm so glad that you've decided to join us, welcome to the group! Hopefully you'll find something to suit your tastes, as we have 5 different group reads each month. That certainly gives everyone a choice, though of course you're not obliged to read anything. Polls have just gone up for January! Book discussions are underway for November. Dive in with whatever takes your interest, we'll be happy to discuss classics, or just have a bookish chat. Any questions just ask :)

Jan Magyar (ianmagyar) Hello everyone! My name's Jan and I decided to join this group because I need extra motivation to restart reading classics. I read a lot of classics a few years ago, but all of a sudden, I stopped and I've read mainly fantasy, crime novels and horror since then. My main problem with reading classics was that I couldn't discuss them (and there's a lot to discuss) with anyone and I look forward to solve this problem in this group.

Kathleen | 5487 comments Hi everyone! I’m new to Goodreads and this looks like a great group. The last few years I’ve been on a quest to read classics, so many of which I missed over the years. Two of the favorites I fell in love with in childhood are The Once and Future King and Dandelion Wine. Newer favorites are Wuthering Heights, Beloved, and War and Peace (not kidding—totally loved W&P, read it over a few months on the bus going to work). It’s great to see there are others on this path, and I look forward to the discussions!

Chaewon | 1 comments Hello everyone!
My name is Chaewon, and I'm a middle school student in South Korea!
I love reading books, and my favorite classic books are "The Wuthering Heights" and "The Great Gatsby". Though I haven't read many classics, I wish to become the ones who have.
The classic books I have read so far, they are all translated in Korean! So I thought reading a lot of English classics could be a good challenge for me. I hope I can improve my English reading and gain a lot of literature knowledge. Yay!
Sorry if my English is bad! :)

I'm very happy to join a great group, and I'll read my best!

Thank you!

Katie Kostek (kkostek) Hi I'm Katie. I like to read a lot of fiction. I became interested in classics as a high school senior when a great teacher of mine had us read and discuss some such 1984, Brave New World, and Animal Farm. I am constantly looking for new books to read and think this group will be great.

I am currently an elementary school paraprofessional. I enjoy running, biking, watching tv and movies, and just relaxing.

Jane Rainone Brown (janerainonebrown) Hi everyone,

I am Jane an avid reader from Rhode Island, USA. I mostly read fiction and about three or four nonfiction books a year. While goodreads informs monthly of newly published books, I feel I am missing out on reading Good Books that stand the test of time.
