Welcome Vivien! You've joined the right group for enjoying classics. There are many here who have loved Pride and Prejudice, and more. Hope to see you join in the discussions.

Hi Vivien! Welcome to the group and to another Austen fan! Enjoy!

Hi Dani! Well to the group! Lots of good classics here along with lots of discussions! I'm happy you're here!

Sorry, Dani! I meant to say welcome! Sorry. :)

Some favorite authors include Toni Morrison, Thomas Hardy, Ursula LeGuin, and M.T. Anderson.
Hi Ellen, welcome to the group. Slow readers are just fine -- we don't close book threads so you can take as long as you like on any book.

Welcome Ellen. I just recently readThe Lathe of Heaven by Le Guin. It was my first book by her that I've read which is surprising since I'm a huge fan of Science Fiction and Fantasy.

Hi Amanda! Welcome to the group!
Welcome Amanda -- hope this group becomes one of your favorites. It is always fun for me to check to see what other groups people are active in -- so many fun ones to choose from. Looking forward to getting to know you better.

Excellent! Welcome Matt! Enjoy!

Hi and welcome Ariza! Pride and Prejudice is one of my favorite books as well! You're in good company here! Enjoy!

I love books, I like to cook, knit, watch tv.
I really think that I need to catch up with the classics!

Welcome Anik! Love your little pun on Catching up on the Classics! Happy reading!

Hi Abby and welcome to the group! It's wonderful that you're here and I also look forward to reading and discussing books with you! Enjoy!

Welcome to the group Shanequea! This is the place to catch up on your classical book reading and have discussions of those books with members. Enjoy and happy reading! P.S. You have such a pretty name!

My taste in books ranges from sci-fi/fantasy to mythology to historical fiction to YA to classics to the occasional mystery.
I have read a lot of classics over the years, but there are still plenty of them on my to-read list. I was happy to find a group about them!

One of the things my parents taught me from a young age was how to enjoy a wide variety of books. My dad is a classics and old school sci-fi kind of guy. My mom is a fantasy, romance and historical fiction type. Recommendations from both of them helped me realize that I pretty much just love books :)
I probably will only join in on the short story this month, but I am all for reading Dracula next month!
I am totally bummed to find this group with less than a month to go on Don Quixote...I would have joined in on that in a heartbeat but don't think I could get the whole book read this month.

I'm glad you're joining in the short story read this month and Dracula next month. There's no pressure to join in with any number of group reads each month, just join us for whatever you find time for, or takes your interest most.
As for Don Quixote. Well, I haven't read any during the past three months, but as I have no plans to reread The Stand, which is our next quarterly classic, I'm going to read Don Quixote instead. I think there might be a few of us that aren't finished by the end of September anyway, plus group reads are never closed for comments. So if you want to read Don Quixote late, or post your thoughts on any of our previous book threads, you'll probably find that others join in and comment too.

Hi Sarah and welcome to the group! Looks like your parents gave you the right path into your journey of all types of books! I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself here! Happy reading!

Hi Pri from India! Welcome to our group! We're so happy you're here! Happy reading and enjoy!

Thank you, Loretta!

My pleasure Pri!

Good to know, thanks!

I read all kinds of books but my favorite genres are horror, thriller, sci-fi, fantasy, classics, and nonfiction. I tend to like the darker side literature. I'm not a fan of romance or chic lit.
Looking forward to some great discussions. :)

Hi and welcome Rachel! I also like horrors, thrillers and obviously, classics. This is definitely the place for the latter. Enjoy and happy reading!

Unfortunately, there aren't many people my age reading and enjoying the classics and even less who do so in English. I always get the strangest looks when I'm on the bus, clutching a Dickens novel.
So here I am. This is the first reading group I've ever joined and I'm excited!
