Totally! I'm going to my library tomorrow to borrow "All Quiet on the Western Front" for September. :)
Hi Vivien, welcome to the group! As Kathy says, there's lots of Austen fans here (I'm a new convert myself) so you're in good company. I'm glad you've decided to read All Quiet on the Western Front, I read it last year and thought it was such a powerful book. I look forward to discussing more books with you soon :)

Hi everyone - I'm Dani. :) Don't let my to-read list cast me off of here... I love reading classics, but mommy-hood has me reading a lot of romance, mystery, etc. (which I'm not ashamed of). Currently enjoying one of the September reads - Madame Bovary... hoping that I'll be more motivated to read literature when I have official "quiet" time.
Hi Dani, welcome to the group! No shame in enjoying any other genres, it's good to read a variety and mix things up a bit. I love classics, but have to throw some other stuff in as well. Hi all, I'm Ellen from NJ. I'm a fiction writer, editor, and mom, and hope to catch up on classics. My caveat is that I'm a slow reader. But I'll do my best! Some favorite authors include Toni Morrison, Thomas Hardy, Ursula LeGuin, and M.T. Anderson.

Welcome Ellen. I just recently readThe Lathe of Heaven by Le Guin. It was my first book by her that I've read which is surprising since I'm a huge fan of Science Fiction and Fantasy.

My dad is a classics and old school sci-fi kind of guy. My mom is a fantasy, romance and historical fiction type. Recommendations from both of them helped me realize that I pretty much just love books :)
I probably will only join in on the short story this month, but I am all for reading Dracula next month!
I am totally bummed to find this group with less than a month to go on Don Quixote...I would have joined in on that in a heartbeat but don't think I could get the whole book read this month.
That's great that you've had reading influences from both parents. I agree it's nice to read a range of materials. I'm glad you're joining in the short story read this month and Dracula next month. There's no pressure to join in with any number of group reads each month, just join us for whatever you find time for, or takes your interest most.
As for Don Quixote. Well, I haven't read any during the past three months, but as I have no plans to reread The Stand, which is our next quarterly classic, I'm going to read Don Quixote instead. I think there might be a few of us that aren't finished by the end of September anyway, plus group reads are never closed for comments. So if you want to read Don Quixote late, or post your thoughts on any of our previous book threads, you'll probably find that others join in and comment too.

Hello everyone! I'm Pri from India. An Engineering graduate and an avid reader. I'm mostly interested in Crime fiction. But, I recently read To Kill a Mockingbird and oh my is that a perfect embodiment of a "Classic" book! So, I've come here to explore more classics. I especially love female characters or female-centric stories that defy conventions. I hope this is the place for me!:)

Hello everyone. I'm Rachel. I found this group from Bob, he is in the read a classic challenge with me and I saw this group and just had to join.I read all kinds of books but my favorite genres are horror, thriller, sci-fi, fantasy, classics, and nonfiction. I tend to like the darker side literature. I'm not a fan of romance or chic lit.
Looking forward to some great discussions. :)

Unfortunately, there aren't many people my age reading and enjoying the classics and even less who do so in English. I always get the strangest looks when I'm on the bus, clutching a Dickens novel.
So here I am. This is the first reading group I've ever joined and I'm excited!
