Welcome to the group, Kent! All of the books you mentioned are currently on my TBR shelf, and after reading your comment I hope to get to them soon. I hope you enjoy reading with us!

My name is Gergana, Gery for short. I live in Montana, Bulgaria and am currently still in high school.
I love reading and for the past few years have read mainly sci-fi, fantasy, YA and middle-grade and maybe just a dash of historical fiction. But in these few months I have been craving classics and have already read a solid number, so reading more of those is my goal for 2015 I guess.

Welcome to the group, Gery! I'm glad you've joined us. :-)

Welcome, Linda! Our group just read "The Woman in White" this fall, and I really enjoyed it. I hope you join us in some group reads! :-)

Hi Cherryl! Welcome to the group. We have 3 monthly group reads as well as 4 quarterly long reads each year, so being a member gives you plenty of opportunity to read more classics! Or you could also check out one of the 2015 Classics challenges/games we are starting this week... ;-)
I hope you enjoy reading with us!!

Welcome to the group, Naya! We've had quite a variety of classics chosen for our group reads in the last few months. I hope you're able to join in reading with us. :-)

Welcome Fahimeh! I have also come to the realization that I will never be able to read all the things I want to read. My To-Read list always grows faster than my Completed Reads list does! I'm glad you've joined us.

Hi Stipe! I hope you'll join us in reading some New School classics, and maybe a few Old School as well. Welcome! :-)

Hi Junemarie! It takes a little practice to get the hang of the navigation and functionality of the site, but I'm sure you'll get there! Feel free to ask any questions. I hope you enjoy reading with us!

Hello Corey! Since you like reading mid-20th century literature, I hope you'll be able to join us for some of the New School group reads. Welcome to the group, and happy new year!

Hi Kristen. I'm also in Minnesota! Historical fiction is one of my favorite genres also. I'm glad you've joined us - welcome to the group!

I read mostly contemporary fiction, fantasy and some YA - but I'm never afraid to try new things. I think there are great books to be found in most genres.

Welcome to the group Allison! I've liked both Vonnegut and Fitzgerald. I haven't read Nabokov yet, and I've only read one by Hemingway - I didn't care for it, but I'm planning to give him another chance. ;-) I'm glad you've joined us!

Hi Sue. I'm currently enduring the frigid temps, so I am jealous of your escape to warmer weather! I hope you enjoy reading with us.

Hello Sigrid, welcome to the group! I hope you're able to join us for some group reads. I've found some great books through this group! :-)

I look forward to discussing the classics with you. Currently full-time student taking online classes towards BA degree which has reduced my pleasure reading time. I enjoy reading a variety of subjects and try to include some classic literature in the mix. (Just finished The Great Gatsby during the winter break.) Current topics at the moment: paranormal, vampires, historical and modern romance. Favorite authors are: Tolkien, J Sandford, Janet Evanovich and Jim Butcher to name a few.

I really want to start reading classics. They sound so interesting and I love the way they're written. I haven't read many-close to none actually. But I've read many passages from them and they always made me curious.

I was hoping that everyone would be reading the same passage and then discussing the passage before moving on to the next. Like in school.
My impression, however, was that everyone reads whatever they want within the book and writes about whatever they want. I was concerned about spoilers and groups of fast readers getting so far ahead that I would not be able to join in the discussion and be left to decipher difficult reading on my own.
Would someone be so kind as to set me straight? How is the group structured?
Gratzi!

Hi Julie! No, our group is not structured like school. For our group reads, we always have at least 2 threads - one "spoiler" thread to discuss specific contents of the book, and one "no spoiler" thread for general discussion in which specific content from the book is not allowed. For most of our group read books we do not have a set reading schedule - everyone is welcome to read the book and post their comments whenever they have time during the month. If there is a specific passage or section you'd like to discuss, I encourage you to post it in the "spoilers" thread for that book for others to discuss with you.
For our Quarterly Long Reads we often have multiple spoiler threads to break the book up into sections for discussion since those books are so long, and occasionally we will have more detailed threads for our monthly reads also.
The discussion does not stop at the end of the designated reading period. We do not close the threads, so you are always free to add your comments to the conversation if you read the book after the group read has ended.
I hope you will join us in discussion!

Welcome Sydney! With our three monthly group reads and quarterly long read, this group should give you plenty of suggestions for classics to read. I hope you can join in discussing them with us!

Sincerely - Alexis

Welcome to the group Alexis! I'm glad you've joined us, and I hope you enjoy participating. :-)

Hi Carla! I hope you enjoy The Count of Monte Cristo. I just read it for the first time and I thought it was a great book. Please do join us in the group discussion thread. Welcome to the group!

Welcome to the group Leonela!

I have read classics in the past, but recently I'm required to read a lot of classics, and so I thought it would be fun to belong to a group that reads classics. So here I am.

Hi Liz! Welcome to the group. I hope you find some great classic reads!

This is the first book club I've ever joined and look forward to discussing books with you!

I love reading classics, and I can't wait to get to the titles I've yet to read. Almost everything being currently read by this group are books I've yet to read and have been collecting dust on my shelves. Thank you all already for the motivation to get to these books!

Welcome to the group Kristina! I recently acquired a few of Cornwell's Saxon series books and I'm looking forward to reading them. I hope you enjoy our group!

Hi Kate! I hope you're able to jump right in to our group reads. I look forward to discussing them with you. Welcome to the group!
