I just bought Frankenstein today and plan on reading it soon too! I did To Kill a Mockingbird for GCSE and absolutely love it. What are your thoughts on it at the moment?

That looks like a beautiful copy! I just went for the Penguin English Library one to match my copy of Jane Eyre!

I have many classics on my TBR list, so I think this group is cut out for me :)
Hi, my name is Darlene. I'm an avid reader and book reviewer. I am in other bok groups but want to read along with your classics when you have some on my shelves. I hope I am welcome to join you all in discussions and group readings.

Hi there. Been out town, welcome to the newest group members! Hope you find that you enjoy the discussion and people here. Welcome to Kirsten, Jane, Eleonora, Darlene, & Karen & everyone that I've missed. Hope to get to know each of you a bit better.

Welcome Lily, I'm glad you found the group also! Hope you can join us in a classic read this month, and we are currently doing nominations for November reads -- go ahead and nominate!

A warm welcome to our newest group members: Annina, Heather, and Jennifer. Glad you found us and hope you enjoy the discussions. Join us in reading more classics together.

Welcome, DoriAnn. Glad to have you here. Great books to read, I do need to continue the Federalist Papers.

It is kind of mind-boggling to realize that these were "just" opinion pieces, written for the newspapers, in order to persuade Common Joe to vote in favor of the Constitution! This is my 3rd attempt at reading them!
Hi Kristina -- so glad you found us here! This is a fun group and though I'm not a moderator anymore, it is still fun to get to know new people. Hope to see you in the discussions.

Hello, I am Raine from the Philippines, and I'm on my 3rd year as a psychology student. I love (in no order) animals, books, blogging, photography, and swimming.
I read books regardless of their genre, as long as there is NO INSTA-LOVE. I admit it's hard, and I've had a lot of misreads before. That's why I really love classics. Also because I have an old soul.

I'm relatively new to GoodReads and this is the first group I have joined. Not one for groups and such but this one tickled my fancy so I said go for it. Uhmm...
I'm Mark, I'm from Ireland, I'm a scientist when I can find work and a general lover of arty stuff when I cannot. I'm 27, love travelling, just back from the Netherlands and want to go back.
Currently reading Great Expectations and have just gobbled up The Picture of Dorian Gray. Love Oscar Wilde's ways and sayings, he's a funny fecker I must say. Just bought his complete works too, so that will be devoured in due time I'm sure. Don't know really what else to say, ask away if you so wish.
Greetings.
M

Lovely word there, tutelage. I was in Boston before, marched in the St. Patrick's Day parade with an Irish band. Then went and got absolutely trollied after mass. :) How Irish of us.. Lovely city, lovely time. Peace out.

My name is Amourose, and I'm a Danish writer and musician, currently working on my first album and second book. I live in Copenhagen with the love of my life - a fellow author.
My next catch-up classics includes Romeo & Juliet, Symposium, 1984, Candide, The Outsider, The Great Gatsby, Either/Or and Jane Eyre.
My latest conquest was The Metamorphosis.
I look forward to being inspired!

I think I actually have As I Lay Dying on my Kindle (purchased when it was on a great sale), so I'll probably start with that one. Not sure when though - these TBR lists never seem to get any shorter! ;-)

Welcome to the group Caty! I hope you enjoy reading some classics with us. :-)
Hello, I'm Maggie and I live in Ontario. I have always loved reading, and I have steadily been building up my collection of classics. I figured it was about time I read some of them instead of letting them gather dust on my bookshelves! :) I am looking forward to some awesome discussions here.

Welcome to the group, Maggie! We're glad to have you here. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the classics we read. :-)

I'm part of another group, where Mary belongs to, too. She said you are going to read The Woman in White next month (one I've been meaning to read a long time, but always other books came in between, because it is such a long read...). And since this group seems very nice, I've decided to join you.
I live in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. I'm married and have a son (Yannick = 8) and a daughter (Annika = 5). I work in a small bookshop, where I (I'm sorry to say) sell more cigarettes, magazines and stamps than books... It is just not that kind of neighbourhood... Of course, when someone does buy a book, that makes me really happy! We have a few customers who buy loads of books ('I've already borrowed it from the library, but loved it so much I wanted to have it for myself' and things like that they say).
My husband thinks our bookshelves are full enough (and sadly, I have to agree...). So now I only buy books from writers I really, really love. Like: Isabel Allende, Ken Follett (only his historical novels), Rebecca Gablé (a german writer who writes historical novels mainly about England - a bit weird reading about England in German ;)... But I got used to it) and J.K. Rowling (that includes her books as Robert Galbraith).
When I want to read something else, I use my ereader. You can download so many amazing books for free!! On www.storycartel.com (free ebooks in exchange for an honest review) or www.smashwords.com or classics from www.gutenberg.com or www.girlebooks.com (books by and for women).
I'm looking forward to participating in this group. Happy reading, everyone!
