Please Introduce Yourself

Hi, Shawn, welcome :). I just saw you say hello in the sci fi group, too. We are in three groups together, it's lovely to "meet" you! I keep seeing Black Beauty when I visit Amazon's Whispersync page. Based on my past whispersync purchases, they suggest I would like that one ;-) too. They are right - I read it as a kid, and would love to revisit it :-)).

I agree with Shawn, Sam, that one was pretty good :-). (I whispersync'd it in December, a "late" classics group read for me. (Edit - the one I listened to was narrated by Michael Page, I think there are a few different narrated versions; edit again, there definitely are a few different narrators, these are the ones at Audible - http://www.audible.com/search/ref=a_h... )

Thanks for the comment! Always good to hear a couple of reviews before checking out a new book. :) And thanks for the link! Definitely on my list.
What is whispersync btw?

Whispersync is Amazon's brand name for what they call "immersion reading". It's a Kindle ebook and an Audible audio book 'synced' up, karaoke-style, so as you listen, you see the words being highlighted in the ebook. Here's a link: http://www.amazon.com/b/ref=sa_menu_a...
They have a bunch of classics that you can get for just $0.99! :)

Oh wow, how interesting! Definitely something to look into. :)

Well, that's all folks :))
Have a nice day

Hello to Joann and Elda :). Welcome to you both!
Joann, one of our other new members, Sri, was just asking yesterday for some recommendations for some German language books/tales for a non-native German speaker. Maybe you can offer him some good suggestions? Here is the link: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Elda, I think you're the fourth person from Albania that I can recall joining in the last month or so. Pretty neat!
I do love the international diversity in this group. It's awesome.

I'm Nathan from Utah, USA. I've been trying over the past few years to disversify my reading, rather than simply being absorbed in Sci-Fi/Fantasy. Taking a crack at Classics has been eye opening and enjoyable. I look forward to discovering more 'favorites'.
Welcome Nathan from Utah. I love SciFi/Fantasy too, but classics definitely have a place in my reading. Hope you enjoy it too.

Awesome! Hello, and welcome, Lewis :)

Hi I'm Margo. I'm currently a freshman in high school and I really want to start reading things that have deeper meanings. My favorite classic is always the last one I read (A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens).

I'm Megan a 22 year old from Baltimore, Maryland. I'm a book blogger who reads a ton of YA books but also reads a bit of everything else too. I haven't read that many classics but the ones that I have read happen to be some of my favorite books so I can't wait to read more!

So far, favorites have been To "Kill a Mockingbird", "Anna Karenina", and "The Count of Monte Cristo".

Thank you Kathy :)

Wow, impressive! I definitely wasn't into classics at your age, good for you! I haven't gotten to A Tale of Two Cities yet, but it's definitely on my list! Also, welcome :)

Hi Audrey, Hi Kristi (*waves!*)! Welcome to you both :)
Kristi, yes, such a fun surprise, being a 'featured group', wasn't it? We got so many new members, and I know you did too, over at Discovering Russian Literature, which seems to be a fabulous group! (So glad they featured it, so I could find out about it.).
You guys are still featured, I see! So fun :)

lol..I'm actually from Reading the Chunksters, but Discovering Russian Literature looks like a really good group too...I may have to sign up for that one. Thanks for that warm welcome!

d'oh!!!!
I knew that, I had just been looking at the Russian one in another window, tho, so I mixed it up :p. heh
(I think all three groups go pretty well together, Classics, Russian, and Chunksters - I joined both of the other groups when they were featured :D)
Apologies! heh fingers on keyboard work faster than brain ... ?

I totally hear you, no worries. You just gave me another group to check out and join :) yay!

whew ... :)

I'm a 22 year old Norwegian. I mostly read science/non-fiction books I guess, but I also try to read a bit of everything. And joining this group seems like a nice way to get into reading some more classics.
To Kill a Mockingbird has vaguely been on my "to read sometime" list for a while, so it's nice to see that up next.

Hi Dagnija! Welcome to our little group :). Glad you've joined us.
Welcome to all of our newest members. Always glad to have more people interested in talking about classics. I've been out of town a days to attend my youngest child's university graduation.
Hope to see all of you newbies in the discussion threads. May is almost here and we have a great set of books coming up and also continuing with War and Peace
