Stephen & Reina Philabaum (lovingandlearning) | 1 comments Hello everyone!

Our names are Stephen and Reina. We are a couple who enjoy learning together and reading classic literature together. We are from Arizona and have been married for almost 9 years. We homeschool our three children and Stephen works as an educator in a classical school. We look forward to meeting and connecting with other bibliophiles!

We just started a blog on our own as well where we talk about our love of the classics, including music, movies and visual art. It is called www.lovingandlearning.org. (If it violates any rules to share this, please remove it! We don't want to spam at all, just find some like minded people to check it out and give feedback!)

Thanks for welcoming us to the group! Looking forward to some exciting adventures together :)

Megan Koopman (megankoopman) | 2 comments Hi, I'm Megan and live in Boston! I've been on Goodreads for almost 2 years, but am looking to interact with other users on the site more (only 1 of my friends uses Goodreads as far as I know). I'm looking to read more classics that I haven't hear of yet. My favorite genres are fantasy, sci-fi, and horror, with some historical fiction thrown in!

Alayna (atrociousinferno) Hey there! I'm not usually one for classics and usually read dystopian and adventure/fantasy; however, I've decided to broaden my spectrum of literature and hope to find new reading material here! :)

Welcome Alayna -- I love to read dystopian and adventure/fantasy too and have found a new love of reading classics to go along with that after joining this group. Glad to have you with us.

Welcome, Lexy! People already here know that sooner or later I am bound to recommend books by Truman Capote. For nonfiction: In Cold Blood in particular, and for fiction: Breakfast at Tiffany's, among others.

Hope you like it here! - ALLEN

message 5770: by Chloe (new)

Chloe (dancedionysus) | -3 comments Hello, everyone! My name is Chloe. I was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada and currently still reside in the city. I am in a long-term relationship and have both a cat (Maxwell) and a dog (Penny) whom I love dearly. (Their names are after Beatles' songs, if anyone caught on to that.)

Reading takes up a large portion of my leisure time, as well as listening to audio books while I do chores or commute. I have used GoodReads for a while now, but am looking to get more adventurous and diverse with my reading, and definitely to read more classics.

I am thrilled to have found a group with so many active members and so many fun challenges! I am frequently online if anyone would like to chat, as I work from home. My other hobbies include cooking, baking, spinning fire, graphic design, and I hope to branch into technical writing.

Merry Meet!

message 5779: by Annette (new)

Annette | 626 comments Hi - I’m Annette from New Mexico. I joined your group a while back so I wouldn’t lose the thread just waiting for when I would have time to join in. I look forward to trying the Bingo (blackout) and the George Eliot Challenges for next year. I don’t think I will plan the Bingo out til it nears completion and I need specific books. I really enjoyed reading a few of George Eliot’s books back in school. I plan to re-read those and as many more as I can get my hands on. My thanks to all who organize and post in this group.

Annie | 5 comments Hello, I'm Annie from the UK. I'm a student here and spend my time reading instead of doing my assignments. I've not read many classics but those I have I've always really enjoyed so I would like to make a point in the new year of sorting that out. I hope this group can help me!

message 5794: by Jules (new)

Jules | 4 comments Hi, I am Jules from Vienna/Austria.
I do read books from most genres (maybe not huge on Fantasy and not really interested in Graphic Novels) and am particularly fond of literary fiction, historical fiction and classics.
I have read many Austrian and German, as well as other European, classics and am starting to dive more into American classics at the moment.
As I find new books to add to my 'to read' list everyday, I thought it might be fun to actually interact with people who are interested in the same authors :-)

message 5795: by ALLEN (new)

ALLEN | 622 comments Wilkommen, Jules! I hope you like it here.
Members have read and discussed all kinds of interesting books here, mostly novels, and the group's definition of a "Classic" is fairly liberal.
