OK I know this book is 8 years old, but I have only recently discovered Liz Byrski and I am really enjoying Aussie chick lit featuring over 50's as that's where I am, so it hits plenty of relevant spots for me. My 89 year old mum put me onto these! Just getting into
Food, Sex and Money and really enjoying it!

I didn't realize she had so many out!! I've only heard of In the Company of Strangers, I suppose because it's fairly new...

Just started The Turn of the Screw. It's quite spooky and best not read at three in the morning, in the dark ( on the IPad), while the rest of the house sleeps!
I just finished Far Cry by John Harvey, I can't say it was one of my favourite police procedural's, normally I read these very quickly but I took quite a while to get into this one.
A mix of things :LJodi Picoult's The Tenth Circle, Kathy Reichs' Mortal Remains, Evil Serial Killers Charlotte Greig (a non-fiction) and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson.
I'm a busy girl

The Turn of the Screw is wonderful. The last line of the story has reverberated in my head for forty years, but I won't spoil it.
Anyway, it's readily available for free on kindle:

It's diverting, but his forcing his spouse to endure the phenomenal inconvenience and irritation struck me as borderline abusive.

About 40 pages to go. I got it for free from IBooks. Love that!

I had wondered how she would deal with it? I haven't got that far yet, my youngest is just over a cold, so I'm catching up on lost sleep.
Finished What Matters in Jane Austen? (enjoyed it) and now reading A Girl Aboard the Titanic: A Survivor's Story. So far so good but more about her subsequent life than the actual titanic experience. But then she was only 7 at the time.

I thought Jacobs' book was entertaining, but it was like one of those movies in which you wait for the disclaimer, "no wives were exasperated in the making of this film," but the disclaimer was absent, and I couldn't believe that anyone living with him wouldn't have been sorely aggrieved by the whole undertaking.

"Thanks for the rec Mark I'll chase it up.
Reading Jasper Fforde's The Last Dragonslayer. Fforde is so talented. He manages to mingle the ordinary with the extraordinary. We the reader have a lot of fun! Jeanne

I am reading Emma Brown by Clare Boylan. Less than half way through and finding it easy to put down. Maybe I'm not in the mood for a Bronteish book. I do find the character of Mrs Chalfont interesting.

Jasper Fforde is brilliant!
Yesterday I started The Walking Dead, Vol. 1: Days Gone Bye and today I finished The Walking Dead, Vol. 8: Made to Suffer. I've finished the prison arc, and now need to wait until I get my hands on the next few volumes. My birthday is coming up, and I hear there is a collection of volumes 9-16 all in one. So. Fingers crossed.
Wow, Im actually amazed at how good these graphic novels are. On the verge of tears in that last one.
I probably wont be reading much more now, since I have year 12 to focus on. When thats done, Im going to lock myself in my room for a week and literally read a hundred books!

The Storyteller
Finished this last week but here is my review http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
as Allen & Unwin said I could put it up before the book is published

Is the book any good? The trailer interested me enough that I plan to see the movie.

I am reading a wonderful George Orwell book called Burmese Days. He was really ahead of his time in terms of his ideas. This is a great book that I had never heard of (and only started reading because I was looking for books set in Burma).
I'm reading How It Feels by Brendan Cowell, mainly because it's set in the part of Sydney where I live, and mentions my old high school. It's... interesting, but quite gloomy and intense in a lot of places. But I'll keep going because it's gripped me enough to make me want to see how it ends.
I am reading The Book Thief. So, far, very very good. Some people are so good at story telling and language.
