Just started re-reading my husband Greg Barron's book "Rotten Gods" in real book form as opposed to manuscript form. It will be out on the first of July and our household is super excited!!! It is just as good as I remembered:-)

Aha! I see. I'll make a note of it. Good idea, ensnaring a few folk to look it up on day of release - that's a great way to send it up the charts!

 Hi all,
Hi all,Haven't been here in ages. I'm currently re-reading my Ben Elton collection. I find him a terribly funny and clever author - must post some reviews actually now that I think about it.
Also doing some background reading for my Masters thesis which starts in two weeks - Hans Kung, Elaine Pagels, The New Testament [of course] so I'm pretty busy reading wise but still finding time to write ;)

Found Ben Elton quite late in his career but I'm absolutely falling in love with him as a writer. He reminds me a little of Terry Pratchett in the way he can so effortlessly poke a little fun at the world and still write a really engaging book.

Currently reading Ben Hatch's 'Are We Nearly There Yet' - about him and his wife traveling round the UK in a small car, trying to write a guidebook - with their 2 and 4 year old kids along for the ride... a promising premise, and really good reviews, but I expected it to be funnier. Mind you, I'm only 1/4 in, so watch this space :0)

I'd love to read that, cant wait for your review Brenda! Because of my exams and drama production, its been a good month and a half since I last read a book. A few nights ago I was finally able to start another one; Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman.

Brenda, I thought Before I go to Sleep was ok, I didn't find it particularly gripping, but I did just finish Into the Darkest Corner and thought that was quite a good read.

If you are looking for a superhero/noir novel, might I suggest Empire State, I just finished it and it was a lot of fun.

I'm reading The Quiet Room: A Journey Out of the Torment of MadnessNot something that I would normally read but my stepson gave it to me on the weekend so I thought I'd give it a go as I'm still WAITING FOR MY KINDLE!! (It should be here today) Anyway.. the book is surprisingly good... raw & confronting & I stayed up way to late last night reading it!
Busy reading Nora Roberts' latest book "The Last Boyfriend" (by the way, how do you add the link to the book). Must admit, I'm not too into this one - doesn't appear to be as good as all the rest of hers.

I have just started reading Steve Jobs - enjoying it so far. I very rarely read Bio's and can't stand memoirs, but this is quite well written.

I'm reading the Discovery of Witches but I'm struggling to be honest. I thought this would be a great read for me but the pacing is slow and repetitive. The dialogue is stilted and at times awkward. I find myself skipping pages to move it a long. I'm pushing ahead with great hopes as this was highly recommended but I'm enjoying it as much as I hoped.

Wow Michael...I'm positive I've read it, but it's not even listed as having been read!! I just checked my library list and even though I've borrowed quite a few of Michael Connelly's, it's not one of them. Now I'll have to wait until I get home, and check if I own it! You have me really thinking now;P

SO good!
Dunno how it is now for Aussie types visiting Amazon.com, but I couldn't buy the last few books either the other day - something to do with the author being snapped up by Random House. Lucky, lucky man!
Anyhoo, they've re-released the e-books (at a substantially higher price - £6 instead of £3.50!) - but whilst waiting for that to happen, I found them on I-Tunes. It said they were unavailable on the UK I-Tunes store, only the Australian one - so I changed my country settings and bought 'em from there! Still $3 for the omnibus I think!
And it was SOOO worth it. Can't wait for the movie... apparently Spielberg acquired the rights!
