What Are You Currently Reading? (doesn't have to be an Aussie book)
I love 'The Curious Incident of the dog in the Night-time'. It is one of the most original/unique books I have ever read. Its got a lot of swearing, but im sure you will love it!
★ Jessica ★ wrote: "Defiantly read them. They are amazing, even though the finale is a let down-but still worth the read. If you really wanted to, you could read the first as a stand alone book, but with an open end..."
Thank you J. for your input on Hunger Games. My son hasn't read them yet, either - maybe we'll both read them this summer.
I am attempting for the second time Parrot and Olivier in America. I am finding I am resorting to the dictionary more than usual, which is probably a good thing.
Started reading Middlesexduring lunch at work today. Has anyone else read this, what did they think of it?
Hi Dee-Ann, I have Middlesex out from the library at the moment - (along with 21 others!!) - glad to hear it's funny, I might move it up a little higher in my pile. Some of them are talking book CDs, so it's not as bad as it sounds ;)

21 books hey, that sounds dauntingly familiar. We are allowed to borrow 15 at a time, but I also have the libray cards of 4 of my children, which often results in me having a lot more out ... I laugh at times about the books my 5 year old has out at times, they must think he is a reading genious.
@Dee-Ann: Hahaha..Nice way to get around the 15 book limit! ;)Wow, I don't even know how many books we are allowed at once, haven't borrowed a book from my lib in years.
I like libraries, but I rarely go to them. I collect books. I like To buy them, then display them proudly on my shelf forever. The only books I borrow are sequels to books I didn't enjoy, but am still interested in reding. Anyway, I am about to start Extras by Scott Westerfeld. One of the many books I own :)
Im a quarter through "Juliet, Naked" by Nick Hornby. Hornby is one of my favourite authors, Im hoping this improves a little.
I have just finished "The Immortal Hunter" by Lynsay Sands - another good book in her vampire series. I have just started reading "The Twilight Before Christmas" by Christine Feehan. I am also part way through "The Shipping News" by Annie Proulx, "Sizzling Sixteen" by Janet Evanavich and "For the Roses" by Julie Garwood.I am still listening to "Chosen" on my Ipod and a Shiela O'Flanagan story on CD in the car.
I may have takne on a bit much - I will see how I go over the next few days.

I was the only one who did not realize it was a true story? I also watched the movie before I read it - that was okay too, I probably enjoyed that more than the book.
A collection of 'Banjo' Paterson poems, selected by Les Murray.
Andrea - The Shipping News is a terrific book. One I have read twice. Yes, that good. It's known for its terse language - some very strange sentences, but they work.
Pride and Prejudice (audio book) and Adam Bede (Kindle). After years of reading only horror I've discovered the classics and can't get enough of them :)

Which O'Flanagan book are you reading ? I've only read "Someone special" which wasn't too bad.
Iris wrote: "Bronwyn wrote: "I have just finished "The Immortal Hunter" by Lynsay Sands - another good book in her vampire series. I haven't actually really enjoyed the last couple in this series and I wish she would get positive in her relationship with Joe Morelli - I love him and Ranger.
Far from Over and it is pretty good. This is my first novel by O'Flanagan.

Agree with you re the two men ... but i think there's a third one to be introduced into SP's life in number 17 :-)
Will go and check out far from over ... thanks for the link.
Dee-Ann wrote: "Started reading Middlesexduring lunch at work today. Has anyone else read this, what did they think of it?"It wasn't my cup of tea at all, in fact I only read, um, about 50 pp. I wanted to like it for the theme, but the characters and the style were just... weird. To me.
My Christmas book was Australian writer Kate Morton's new novel "The Distant Hours". Thoroughly enjoyed it, as I did "The House at Riverton" last year. Re "The Shipping News" mentioned earlier - I love this book too, and have read it twice. One of my all time favourites!
@ Maxine - I wish I was reading "Pride and Prejudice" for the first time! It's one I go back to and re-read every few years.
I'm still working on my private alphabetical challenge (overdue books by authors in alphabetical order) - so after finishing Like Clockwork by SA author Margie Orford I'm about to start reading Between Summer's Longing and Winter's End: The Story of a Crime which has one of those extremely memorable opening pages.
I've just started to read again my mate Stuart Ross McCallum's book 'Beyond my Control' http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/...
If you are after inspiration this is the book for you to read, what Stuart overcame is truely a remarkable feat of strength & willpower

I have just started reading The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella and I am still listening to Far from Over and The Denniston Rose
the key to rondo by emily rodda.
plus a few others.

I devoured 180 pages of I Am Number Four last night. So far its freaking amazing! I love the style of writing-captivating, addicting and visual :)
I didnt think I would love it, But I do!
Question: Has anyone read Beastly? Im thinking of reading that next.
Yes, definitely ;) The trailer doesnt look very good, but I hope the movie will be. I think they got the casting perfectly.
Oh lord now I know I'm getting old.
Chris Colfer is just a baby. :P
Cheryl wrote: "There's no blurb/ description for this book on its page - when you review it could you please include a quick note as to what it's about?..."Cheryl I edited that book and added a description. Looks interesting.:)
Beastly was a pretty good book. The trailer reveals that the movie will not be true either in theme & attitude nor in appearance to the book. (We had a whole discussion on another of my groups.)

Eww.. I'm very glad you improved that listing, but it's also *so* not my kind of book!

I rarely go to the library, I prefer buying books-but the few times I do go, the book(s) I want are all out :(
Anyway, I think Im about to start reading City of Bones by Cassandra Clare. Ive heard great things about this books. Fingers crossed :)
