Hagrid's Hut

IC
Caysey was realeased from the hospital with no scars to her utmost relief. She wanted some air, so she decided to walk on the grounds. She avoided the hut, because the giant living there scared the living day lights out of her. He was just so big. The first day she saw him escorting the first years to the school came back in to her memory. She made sure to stay away that day, taking the very last boat. A dog came bounding towards her suddenly and she stopped waiting to see what he would do.

((But what I meant earlier Cairie-Please use parentheses when you are speaking out-of-universe. When they're not that makes it rather confusing for Role-Playing members and further so for chatting! Capeche? Thanks! ))

-And I sure do! Not sure how my skills will be for the venerable game-keeper though))
In the huge dog's wake a large, or huge, man with a dark salt-and-pepper beard like wire-bristles walked towards Caysie, "Oi. The Head shouldn't want students out on the grounds after dark, he took a torch from the holder on his cabin wall and raised it up illuminating Caysie's face. "Why," he growled in surprise. "Aren't you that little girl that looked wanting to sink into the floor at sorting? Not," he added, "Like there's anything wrong with that!"

"Please sir, its not curfue yet and I just wan..wanted to get..get some air. I don't really like people watching me. I..I'll Go..go...back now si..sir."

"No sir, I..I didn't think you would um..put your dog on me." She looked at fang and she wanted to giggle. He didn't look like he could hurt a fly.
"I'm not sure about torches myself I guess. Don't you have lights that you can just switch on sir?"
"Thank goodness I could say that without stammering," she thought quickly. He looked so disappointed for some reason."

Hagrid snorted, a little skeptically. He took the collar of Fang and raised a huge eyebrow at Caysie. "No," he replied voice sounding like a growl to the comparatively little girl. "Electricity don't work at Hogwarts as you should know."
Shaking his bushy head he walked inside of the cabin and went over to the stove, setting some water to boil.
The gamekeeper poked his head out of the door. "Listen, want a cuppa tea?" he asked her in a exasperated gruff tone.

She smiled slightly. "Yes please, I'd love a cup of tea sir."

"There you go!" he said and picked up a slice of bread and nodded in acknowledgement to Caysie. The half-giant teacher raised the slightly larger cup of his for a toast, almost wondering of her reaction.

((I am so so sorry Cairie! I flat-out-missed this! I am sorry.))

Casey looked at him standing up. "Goodness, but he is so big," she thought.
"Um, its really nice meeting you sir, I'm just..well..careful of people I don't know first. Its hard when you're so small if you know what I mean. People don't really like little people some times. I guess its the same for big people?

Hagrid chuckled, though the smile had decreased in its vigor. "Well that's the thing," he said sitting down. "If you're a big person than the sound doesn't carry so well and you just ignore the naysayers." He laughed, sending Casey's nerves out the window when the china cup rattled, "Jokin'" he said to her expression...

She was unaware of her sleeve sliding up her arm, revieling a big bruz on her wrist.
"Please may I have another cup of tea? I can butter more sandwiches if you want."

"Its looks better than it was," she tried, not sure if that was going to help. ""Please don't tell anyone about it? I'm hoping to stay here this summer and everything will be okay."
She was silently pleading with him.

"He looses it some times that's all." she muttered. "Please don't be mad at me. I jus..just..coul..couldn't tell any one. Who wan..wants to be friends with a battered kid?" Some foster homes are like that I guess."

"It was my foster father," she whispered. "He just got angry that's all. It will get better I'm sure sir. What..what are you going to do now?

((...And...There happens to be a Headmistress Role-Player so shall we go to the Head's office, Cairie?))

Still holding the huge handkerchief she followed him, knowing there was nothing for it.
(lets go to the head mistress's office)
Ruby knew that Hagrid was away on business. Of course she didn't know for what exactly but it was a good chance to visit her baby griffin without having to eat Hagrid's weird-looking cakes.
She walked down the small stone path and stared at the endless forest beneath her. The sky was filled with heavy grey clouds that day, making the green grass look darker. Ruby placed on her scarf and tied it tightly around her neck.
She grew tired of staying in the Hospital Wing. They only let her out to go to classes, but even that under some supervision. She didn't feel like her condition was getting worse so she was finally able to sneak out for a walk.
She arrived at the closed-shut hut and walked past Hagrid's giant pumpkins. Just after his small garden there was a tiny clearing on the edge of the forest where her baby griffin was living.
Ruby sat down on a log with difficulty but it was good that the baby griffin was excited she was there. It meant she didn't have to stand up and go to him.
"Hey you." she said, remembering Hagrid hadn't given him a name yet.
A few moment of silence had passed when she heard steps behind her closing in.

Ruby turned around to see Dimitri coming closer. She smiled as he came and sat across of her.
"Hey." she said, smiling kind of sadly. "I haven't seen you in a while." she said.
Ruby was thinking a lot about Henry and Dimitri everytime she didn't have to study. She was sure there was somehting going on since Henry hadn't visited in a long time and Dimitri's expression was a bit dark everytime he was around, just like that first day she met him in Hogsmeade.
"How are you?" she asked, stroking the feathers of the griffin who was curled in her lap.

Ruby lost her controlled expression for a moment and her eyes widened. What?
She almost stood up but then she remembered she felt to weak to stand up. Instead she turned her torso to face Dimitri. "What? How- When- Why?" she said.
Her mind started making scenarios. They were in Hogwarts, her father couldn't be here. So it was either Nic or an accident but Dimitri was too good to be nearly killed in an accident.
"Was it Morth? What did he do to you? How- Start talking." Her voice was becoming dangerously serious.

Ruby listened Dimitri's narration and her mind felt alerted. He had almost died, for real.
SHe then punched him in the arm as hard as she was able and started yelling.
"Are you crazy?! You almost got yourself killed because you slipped on some algae? What would you have done if the other person hadn't come to your rescue..." Ruby kept blubbering until her worry was overtaken with relief. Dimitri didn't interrupt her and he took in her comments silently.
Eventually she took a deep breath, stretched her arms open and gave him a small hug. She couldn't lose him or anyone else. Not again.
"I'm glad that you are okay Dimitri." she said, trying to smile a bit. Then it hit her.
"So, who was the person that saved you?" she asked.

Ruby could tell he was hiding something.
"Dimitri, who saved you?" she asked again, laughing a bit. "I'm pretty sure I'll want to congratulate him or her myself." She smiled when seh said that. She truly meant it.
Yet Dimitri wouldn't meet her eyes. He kept petting the griffin which was now curled up and asleep.
"Hey, I know you wantto protect me and especially now." she said, "but I think I can handle a lot more than you give me credit for."
She was touched that Dimitri was protective of her but now she wanted him to trust her.

It felt as if Ruby's stomach twisted in some way but she was able to control her expression. Nicolas Morth save Dimitri? A manipulative, arrogant, twisted guy who cared for nothing but power and his own pleasure?
Why did he do it, what could he possibly gain? Maybe it was to win her affection, to show her that he was capable of change. But no, that's idiotic, Nic knows that Ruby is smarter than that.
"I-" she started to say but closed her mouth in the end. "I don't understand why he would save you. Maybe to... Maybe to crawl his way into this, our friendship. Or maybe he wants something from you and you haven't realized what that is yet."
Ruby didn't know if she was being smart or if she was just spprouting out things because she needed to say something.

RUby shook her head. She couldn't believe that MOrth wanted to save her life other than to tak eadvantage of her in the future.
Yet, he saved Dimitri and he had no reason to do that. None that Ruby could think of.
"I don't know Dimitri, this guy has and still is a freaking nightmare to be around of. I mean, it's exhausting having to always outsmart him and to look after yourself for almost 3 years."
She sighed lifitng her eyes to look at him. "But I guess people change. Just, don't trust him, not yet." she said.
((Sorry for not posting!!))

Ruby giggled when Dimitri mentioned he was going to protect her. Not that he wasn't able, she hadn't forgotten how talented Dimitri was.
It was just... Protect her from what exactly? Nicolas? He was appearing to be a good guy now, or even if he wasn't becoming one he was of no threat to Ruby because for whatever reason he wanted her alive.
From her father? Ruby didn't even want to meet him again or ever mention him let alone have Dimitri protect her from him.
She sighed and inhaled some fresh air. "Well thank you." she said to him. "Truth is they haven't figured out a way to heal this only delay its spread. Apparently there is no known cure in the books that they have." she said ,pointing out on a red mark in her forearm.
"So I've decided to act on my own. Maybe travel, see if I can find anything related to it." Ruby said that cautiously. She knew Dimitri was wary of her being alone in such state let alone her traveling away. But she wanted him to know the truth.

((I'm totally improvising:P))
Ruby's face morphed at the sound of that. "No Dimitri, you have classes here, a future. You're not going to waste it on me." she said with a sad smile.
She couldn't bring Dimitri along. Part of her intention to travel was to actually research the poison and maybe find clues that leads to its cure but it was also to disappear for a while. Hide herself from unwanted eyes.
Bringing along Dimitri meant diving him in unnecessary danger.
"I'm not going to be gone for long. Maybe a month. So don't worry, I'll be fine." she said smiling.
She had many places to go, all those years without a family had proven useful , her traveling away during the summer vacation.

At Dimitri's words Ruby's mind felt numb. An antidote? she thought. How can that be, there wasn't an antidote.
"Dimitri, how- how did you find an antidote?" she said, speaking louder than usual. "And how could oyu not tell me right away, I could help y-" She stopped talking when she realized that Dimitri was working with an expert.
It couldn't be a teacher or a nurse from the hospital. If the antidote wasn't found in the Hospital Wing's books then it must require some illegal ingredients.
So it had to be a student...
"Nicolas saved me. He must have been following me."
"He wants to save your life, Ruby, just for his own reasons. Maybe he just needs someone else to help him."
There was no way yet she was finally starting to understand what had been going on. Dimitri doesn't usually break curfew to go out and get some air.
Dimitri couldn't find all of those ingredients being himself at Hogwarts.
He was saved by Nicolas but for no apparent reason...
Ruby's eyes gleamed as she focused them on Dimitri.
"Did you make a deal with Morth?" she said calmly, yet her expression was frozen ad her eyes felt wild.
((Sorry for not posting but i have an exam period coming on and I've been studying again -.- Yet here I am!! ^^))

((How about Dimitri tells Ruby that he had to make it and she just accepts that they need Morth and then she plans to come to them when they meet for brewing the potion, to check out reactions. What do you think?))
((Again ,very sorry, go check the paths^^))
Ruby felt her panicked state was settling down and she realized what her greatest fear was. What if, even when Nicolas was trying to help out of the goodness of his heart, Dimitri was hurt in the process?
Also, she couldn't understand, couldn't figure out something so for once she decided to trust her friend with the truth, but now wasn't the time.
She sighed and looked Dimitri in the eyes. "You know, when I first saw you in Hogsmeade, it scared me, the look on your face. It shocked me to the core how that emptiness in your eyes resembled mine." she paused there and excaped his gaze.
She stood up shakily and decided to walk for a bit. It used to calm her down, but now she felt as if her body was just doing it out of reflex.
"Dimitri, you are a dear friend and I trust you with my life. That is why I won't doubt you even though all of my instincts tell me to drag you out of this castle, as far away from Morth as possible."
She took another deep breath.
"Can I ask what his terms were?" It seemed to Ruby that Dimitri was shocked that she had accepted this. He was right, she was shocked too but she had to play this right, for him.

Ruby sighed as she heard Morth's terms. He didn't trust Dimitri, seriously? Nicolas was the number one person not to be trusted with somebody's life.
As for her drinking it out of the Hospital Wing and in secret, that made sense.
"I understand." she said after a minute of silence. "If the nurse saw the potion she would want to examine it first and then she'd see that it is probably highly dangerous for- "
Ruby stopped there and looked over at Dimitri with caution. She knew he wasn't stupid but because he wanted her cured that much maybe he hadn't considered the possibility.
She went over there and sat next to him, trying to smile kindly. "I'll be alright for at least five more weeks since I'm getting some kind of treatment from the Wing." she said, trying to close up the previous conversation.
There was another reason Nic would want her to drink it in secret and away from anyone. This disease was extremely dangerous so its countermeasure must hurt the victim unbearably. If Ruby were to take it and to that there was no other choice, she'd probably scream or the least faint while the cure is doing its magic.
Yet Ruby didn't want to mention it to Dimitri because maybe it hadn't occurred to him just yet.

Ruby accepted his cloak gladly. Her body felt frozen, as if her blood was running away and concentrating on those red spots.
"Anyway" she said "we should get going, it's almost time for dinner."
The small routine detail surprised her, something as simple as rushing to the great hall to eat dinner with a friend.
"Join me?" she asked, even though it came out as a plea. "I don't feel like being gazed up and down by Morth all by myself." she smirked.
