message 103: by Robin (new)

Robin (Bridge Four) (fionafixit) Sweet next weekend it is ladies :) I love buddy reads.

message 104: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm in! I just bought that one. Just tell me when :)

message 105: by Robin (new)

Robin (Bridge Four) (fionafixit) Yay Kira is in too.

message 106: by Robin (new)

Robin (Bridge Four) (fionafixit) Okay ladies Kira, Kdbrand, Rachel and Diane. The weekend is approaching. Should we start Unravel on Fri, Sat or Sun.

message 107: by Diane (new)

Diane | 1234 comments I'll be ready to go on Friday, I got the book on Kindle yesterday so I am ready :)

message 108: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 560 comments I'm good for Friday as well

message 109: by [deleted user] (new)

Sounds good to me! Do you plan to discuss here or start a thread somewhere else?

message 110: by Robin (new)

Robin (Bridge Four) (fionafixit) Friday sounds great. I thought we could just use the thread beneath this one on the list in the buddy reads section. Unless you guys want to talk about it somewhere else.

message 111: by Kdbrand (new)

Kdbrand | 353 comments I'll be ready on Friday too.

message 112: by Diane (new)

Diane | 1234 comments sounds good. Are we reading at our own pace or do you want to set a pace to read and discuss (x amount of pages or chapters per day )

message 113: by Robin (new)

Robin (Bridge Four) (fionafixit) I'll do either. I solemnly swear that I will remember this isn't a race but a buddy read and read it over 3-4 days instead of one sitting ;)

message 114: by Kdbrand (new)

Kdbrand | 353 comments I'm okay with either one. Missouri is supposed to have lousy weather this weekend, so I'll be home a lot.

message 115: by Robin (new)

Robin (Bridge Four) (fionafixit) I only had time for the first two chapters today but so far our narrator seems completely and totally nuts of some kind.

I haven't read many books with an unreliable narrator to compare it to but so far it seems interesting.

message 116: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah I'm barely into it too and so far it's intriguing but unsettling. Her encounter with Lachlan in the beginning... I already have a slight mistrust for hospitals and a paranoia that they can just keep anyone they think is crazy, so this book probably isn't going to help my conspiracy theories haha

message 117: by Robin (new)

Robin (Bridge Four) (fionafixit) haha totally. Already he gives off an untrustworthy vibe of sorts. color me intrigued though.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments I think they might have moved the discussion over here already? https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

message 119: by [deleted user] (new)

Ah yes, they did! Thanks, Stacia, sorry for jabbering on the wrong thread :)

message 120: by Stacia (the 2010 club), groupaholic, YA-MA founder (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments No worries. I just figured that it might get confusing if you all were having two separate conversations. :)

message 121: by Stacia (the 2010 club), groupaholic, YA-MA founder (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments Not sure if anyone's interested in reading and discussing the month's group read together, but I'm going to start Etiquette & Espionage on Wednesday the 12th and figured I'd see if anyone was up for starting it then. I'd probably split it up into a 3 or 4 day read and post updates in the group read topic, instead of just reading it solo and sharing my thoughts at the end. I thought it might be more fun if someone else was interested in reading along and discussing as the book unfolded instead of after it was finished.

Cristal (Professional Book Procrastinator) | 65 comments I'm thinking of reading The Diviners (The Diviners, #1) by Libba Bray ...the size of the book is a bit daunting to me, but I am hoping that reading it with someone would make it more fun. Let me know if interested.

message 123: by Stacia (the 2010 club), groupaholic, YA-MA founder (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments If you don't get any takers for right now, I would be interested in buddying it in May or June. I'd hoped to read it closer to the pub date of book 2.

message 124: by Robin (new)

Robin (Bridge Four) (fionafixit) I'd be game for May or June as well

Cristal (Professional Book Procrastinator) | 65 comments June would work for me Stacia and Robin. Especially since I think the sequel releases in August.

message 126: by Robin (new)

Robin (Bridge Four) (fionafixit) Sweet I'm game for then Cristal.

message 127: by Stacia (the 2010 club), groupaholic, YA-MA founder (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments Sounds good. :) We might want to wait and pick a date closer to June, just so people don't have plans pop up and need to rearrange.

message 128: by Brittney (new)

Brittney Cristal, I actually just picked that book up a couple of days ago. I'd be down to read it in June as well.

Cristal (Professional Book Procrastinator) | 65 comments Oh really? Great Brittney :)

message 130: by Brittney (new)

Brittney I am definitely a little late in the game. A friend on here recommended it...until then I hadn't heard anything about it.

message 131: by Robin (new)

Robin (Bridge Four) (fionafixit) I was waiting for a buddy read of Mistborn: The Final Empire with a few people here this month but it was put on the back burner.

I'm starting the series the first week in May if anyone feels like joining in.

Athena Shardbearer Robin I'm down to start that week!

message 133: by Diane (new)

Diane | 1234 comments It is a good series- enjoy. For me it was a bit slow in the beginning due to world building but once I got into it it was good and in my opinion unique.

message 134: by Robin (new)

Robin (Bridge Four) (fionafixit) most good fantasies are it just takes awhile to learn a new world. yay it's me and Athena for sure. maybe Ash will be interested too.

Athena Shardbearer Woohoo! I'm excited.

message 136: by Robin (new)

Robin (Bridge Four) (fionafixit) Me too. I met Brandon Sanderson yesterday and sat in 2 panels with him on it. He was amazingly nice during the signing. He signed my WoR with Stormfather! So excited that I almost forgot to have my picture taken with him. I'll post pictures sometime this week.

Athena Shardbearer What! I want to see!

message 138: by Robin (new)

Robin (Bridge Four) (fionafixit) My husband is diligently going thru the photos. When he deems them acceptable I'll post with the inscriptions on the books he signed for me.

Athena Shardbearer Ah! I'm jealous and happy for you! I can live through you!

message 140: by Ash Wednesday (new)

Ash Wednesday (ashwednesdaylee) OMG don't kill me Robin!!!! But so cool you met Sanderson!

I'm going to be reading Froi of the Exiles (Lumatere Chronicles, #2) by Melina Marchetta and Quintana of Charyn (Lumatere Chronicles, #3) by Melina Marchetta within the week, I don't know how I'd feel towards fantasy after finishing those two.

But I'm going to say a tentative yes on first week of May :D

No pressure Ash, I just remember you saying you wanted to read them, if it works out great! Froi and Quintana I loved since they are not your typical characters they are both so flawed but I absolutely loved their stories.

message 142: by Robin (last edited May 02, 2014 04:59AM) (new)

Robin (Bridge Four) (fionafixit) For anyone interested Athena and I (and possibly Ash if she has time) are starting Mistborn: The Final Empire on Monday May 5th if anyone else want to join in.

message 143: by Alexa (new)

Alexa (littlelexa) | 104 comments I already re-read Mistborn this year, but if at some point you decide to do The Alloy of Law or Steelheart let me know!

Robin (Bridge Four) (fionafixit) Alexa wrote: "I already re-read Mistborn this year, but if at some point you decide to do The Alloy of Law or Steelheart let me know!"

I will read Allow of Law right after I finish the Mistborn trilogy but I won't do Steelheart again until right before firelight.

I'll be reading Steelheart before Firelight comes out. I'm doing a buddy read with Shandra and Annette.

message 146: by Alexa (new)

Alexa (littlelexa) | 104 comments Then let me know when you are reading those and I'll join!

Those are the only books I'm missing from Sanderson at the moment and I'd love to have someone to discuss them with.

message 147: by Komal (new)

Komal I've been eyeing Seraphina (Seraphina, #1) by Rachel Hartman for a while. Anyone interested in a buddy read?

message 148: by Brittney (new)

Brittney @Komal I want to read this too! Before I can say yes I would absolutely be down to do a buddy read... I've got to get a copy of the book.
