So, I was thinking we should have a thread where we could post funny, strange, bizarre, or cute things we find online... basically just things you think are interesting or even news worthy that'll (hopefully) strike up conversation and commentary (sometimes serious, mostly humorous).

It may of just been my computer, but when I clicked on "this one" my computer got spammed, I had to shut it down and reboot. So be careful opening it. :)
Hmm...I don't know why...it's just a WordPress blog called Bake Me More... I rechecked it and mine was good, but yeah, don't click on it if your worried. You won't be missing much... it's just her April Fool's dinner where she made a "dinner" that was actually sweet, and a cupcake for dessert that was actually dinner: (see message 8)

Edit: I just took the link off to be on the safe side...

Wow, are these real?? They're so bad, they're actually really funny. What kind of exam was this? Please explain... This made me think of one of the best gr reviews (for a very popular book) that apparently had equally bad metaphors (they are metaphors, right? English majors help me out because for some reason I'm blanking...and I'm too tired and lazy right now to look it up):
http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/....
I've never read the book, but I think even if you have and liked it, or you want to, you'll probably still think her review, and the comments that followed, are pretty funny. (some of the comments are missing, but you'll still get the idea)
Thanks, Janet!
I liked that one too, Tami!
Linda: I know, my brother and I were busting up when we saw them too!! And I only posted 3 of maybe 10 or more pics. The middle pic was our favorite, too! :)
Haha I recently finished reading The Lovely Bones and read this review. It is hilarious, although I don't remember any of the metaphors actually being in the book. I'm pretty sure if I was paying any attention at all, I also would have cringed at "she buttered the toast with her tears" or whatever it was that she wrote, but I guess I don't read with the eyes of an English major.

Exactly! Thank goodness I don't either, because I like to actually enjoy what I'm reading without having to dissect it. And I'm pretty sure that would take all the enjoyment out of it for me....

My favorite cringe-worthy metaphor, besides the pulsing, dilating pupils that were behaving like small, ferocious olives, of course, was:
Her heart, like a recipe, was reduced.
Pretty funny stuff.
Haha that is so bad! I actually did like the book, although if someone had pointed out the God-awful metaphors to me before I read it, I'd probably have enjoyed it less. I'm the kind of reader that just goes with the flow. I probably just skimmed past all the terrible metaphors in favor of the general storyline.

Whoa, Jamie... that site was freaky and REALLY HARD! lol I was even trying to go about it in a somewhat scientific way and I still sucked! It just proves that it isn't really possible to judge based on outer appearances alone...

I forwarded it to my brother in law that is a deputy to see how he and his coworkers fare. I will let you know. I sucked. Got 10 out of 40 then stopped. How long does it go?

Oh man... that would be really interesting to hear how they do!
Oh man... that would be really interesting to hear how they do! I'm pretty sure I only got to 25 before I quit. I started getting too freaked out... but I think it was the mix of having to read what the act was, while looking at the messed up mugshots.

I was actually going to post this until I saw you did! My mom sent me this in an email last year haha.

haha I need to leave some notes like that one on all of my stuff because clearly calling my sister out on taking my crap is not getting anywhere. lol.

I think it's funny that we're talking about how much we love them here and how much we hate them in the "I AM SO PISSED" thread lol.

Haha, well it's different when it's happening to you. A couple years ago during our sophomore year in college, my good friend/roommate and I put up an Obama poster on our dorm room door (we were very early supporters. Haha.) Anyway, the next day, there was derogatory stuff written all over it, so we put up a very passive aggressive note about it. I wish I could remember what we wrote, but I just remember it being hilarious. I think nowadays, I'd rather confront the perpetrator about it, but at the time, we had no idea who did it.

Mandee, the Leaving Cert. English exam is an exam we have to do in our final year of secondary school (thats high-school in the USA, right?). I think they should get an A for originality anyways!

This is really strange or anything but just really cool! My professor showed it to us!In 2007, AARP sponsored a 'U @ 50' contest for teens. This entry won and is just now getting widespread play on U-Tube. Don't forget to notice how the message changes when reversed, using the same words each way. Very creative.

Janet, THAT WAS AMAZING!! As she was reading it the first time I thought she was talking about the Boomer generation, esp. because it was for the AARP, but when she changed it the message totally hit me right in the gut... she's talking about us... RIGHT NOW. Wow. Thank you for sharing that! I feel so lucky to live in a time when we, as a society, are choosing to correct our priorities.

I fail at that game. But I do wonder why some of them are smiling in their mugshots? :P

Our local jail posts mugshots for the last 3 days worth of bookings, and over half of them are smiling. I never understood that.

Hahaha that is definitely strange... I can't decide if that makes them more creepy looking, or look less like a criminal.
Hahaha that is definitely strange... I can't decide if that makes them more creepy looking, or look less like a criminal. So, I went back and checked and for the most part I think it makes them look better. I mean, it's a mugshot... those are already creepy, so why not at least try to make it a little less... maybe? :/ ... I don't know...
I love when you see celeb mugshots and they try to act all sexy or cool in them. It's like really..you are in jail you MORON! and you look like CRAP because you are 5 times over the legal limit and taking illegal drugs!

I kept getting yelled at by the photographer when I got my passport photo taken (and I look sooo mad in it b/c you can't smile at all so I look like I'm frowning)
