Gwen Hendrickson | 72 comments Lauren | 144 comments Well...I just read the Cursed Child and it was an absolute train wreck. Everyone was out of character and it read like bad fanfiction. I've written a review if you want more details (spoilers are hidden, of course).

I completely agree I can't believe she let it be published, although my grandfather liked it, my mother and brother are on the fence, I felt it ruined my perception of the wizarding world.

Jojobean Absolutely

message 203: by Ennamora (new)

Ennamora | 3 comments No... I think Harry Potter is done.
I do wish she’d write proper books of the Fantastic Beasts series instead of those stupid script books.

message 204: by Lacey (new)

Lacey Yes, I think she totally should! I have loved all of the movies. I've been wanting to read the books for a while now. So I am currently reading Prisoner of Azkaban. It is my favourite film, so I wanted to start reading that first. Once I finish it, I will start reading the 1st one then so on

message 205: by Noah (new)

Noah (teatalksreadsbooks) | 8 comments No, I don't believe the series should continue. The Harry Potter books are utterly amazing. For generations to come, they will go down as some of the best children's literature ever written. The characters, magic, values, events and scope of the world are all a joy to read. However, the series has to end somewhere. I felt, from the seven books, we were told Harry's story. The last three words of Deathly Hallows summed it up - we had read and experienced his struggle and no more was required. I think a fascinating debate would be 'What was the case for J.K Rowling killing Harry at the end of Deathly Hallows?' That could create lots of conversation.

message 206: by C (new) - rated it 5 stars

C | 52 comments If anything I'd like a prequel, after that disaster of a sequel the Cursed Child was. Unpopular opinion, I'd like to read about maybe Beauxbatons and life there with maybe Fleur as the main character. I think that'd be interesting.

message 207: by Emma Mili (new)

Emma Mili (emmamili) | 1 comments I think that she should write about when james and lily were at hogwarts

message 208: by Megan (new)

Megan Cheang | 63 comments I've always disliked the idea of sequels. E.g. suite life on deck after suite life of Zack and Cody. Don't get me wrong, I loved the show after watching the first episode i saw. But I've always hated moving on from the original. So, I would prefer it if J.K. Rowling would write more on the adventures of the Golden Trio in Hogwarts.

Me too!!

message 210: by Dana-Rae (new)

Dana-Rae (danarae_tibbetts) Harry Potter is by far one of my favorite series but I feel like it should be left as what it is and left where it was ended

message 211: by jessica ☾ (new)

jessica ☾ (jez_the_bookworm) I would love for there to be more added on to the story, but after the disaster that is The Cursed Child, I'm so disappointed I absolutely don't want anything else to be potentially damaged.

Julia | 180 comments Dana-Rae wrote: "Harry Potter is by far one of my favorite series but I feel like it should be left as what it is and left where it was ended"

YES! Completely agree! Cursed Child was a total trainwreck, if you ask me.

If the rules of the original books were followed, maybe another book would be fun, but "All was well" was really good enough for me, and I loathed Cursed Child.

Me too!!"
I agree

Mikki Elodie the Ravenclaw Faery (mikaylahannah) | 18 comments I just think she should focus on Fantastic Beasts and the Ilvermony Houses. Is she wrote books about Ilvermony that would be the best thing ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🤓🤓🤓

I would totally read any book taking place in Ilvermony!!! I'm dying to know more about it besides just the houses!

Same omg. Cursed Child was an abomination. A disgrace xD The series ended at All was well for me.

message 218: by Annika (new)

Annika (myprofile00) please keep writing more books in this series! i would love to see what happens with the relationships. if they have kids and stuff like that.

message 219: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes. I don't think she should try to make a sequel or continue the story as they tried with cursed child, but do as she's been doing, write books - Such as 'Quidditch Through the Ages', 'Short Stories From Hogwarts', and 'Tales of Beedle the Bard' - in order to expand the Potterverse. She might even consider writing a prequel story about Voldemort'ss childhood, or DUmbledor's childhood. Build upon his relationship with Grindelwald, the death of Arianna, and his search for the Deathly Hallows. I would also love to see a story that goes through the lives of the Marauders, and their countless escapades and adventures. So, in answer to the question, yes, JK should write more books, but not continuing the story we all know and love, but expanding the ever-changing universe of Harry Potter.

message 220: by [deleted user] (new)

I do not think she should continue on in Harry's story either, i think that that story is done, but I would love to see more of the Hogwarts' library.

message 221: by Lilli Gilliam (new)

Lilli Gilliam I feel like she should, I want to know what happens after the Battle of Hogwarts. The Cursed Child disappointed me, and it did NOT feel like the Harry Potter world/series at all...

message 222: by [deleted user] (new)

No, Cursed Child didn't live up to expectations, and I would want to know what happened, but I think that she left some strands dangling, and left us to imagine what happened afterward. I think that when an author leaves the rest to her readers imagination it keeps interest in her series, instead of just cutting all loose threads, she has set loose our imaginations to fill in the blanks. of course, it would be nice, but then what would we have left to think about?

message 223: by Dorion (new)

Dorion B. Clement (dbrownreads) | 1 comments The Harry Potter series was a great read. And I didn't want it to go. I remember when it first came out in 1997 and me and my friends loved it. It would be great if she continued the series!

message 224: by Macey (new)

Macey (meesamacey) (I probably already posted my opinion in this chat, but I'm too lazy to go back and check).

I don't think Rowling should do anything else with HP. Fantastic Beasts is great, but its time to be over and done with.

message 225: by Harry (new)

Harry Potter Fan (harrypotterlister) | 2 comments Oh J K Rowling has moved on from Harry Potter.

I read news about Ickabog, new JK Rowling book announced today.

I got a craving for harry potter once again (though I have a full collection of 7 books paperback). But I am thinking of reading similar books like
This list of 20 books like harry potter
I am thinking of The Night Circus in particular.

message 226: by Irial (new)

Irial O'Farrell | 1 comments I would love to see more books on the HP world. Cursed Child was good in its own right but there wasn’t too much on Harry and his friends, which detracted from the story, as I kept expecting more about them. Every time I read the series, I’m always aching to read more.

message 227: by Saket (new)

Saket (saket394) I just reread the books , I am devastated, HELP!

message 228: by Megan (new)

Megan (neonfire777) Although I was sad when it ended, I thought that the ending was peaceful and simple. The Cursed Child and the Fantastic Beasts movies seem like a bit of a money grab for JK Rowling. :(

message 229: by anise (new)

anise The books ended with a good finale, but I would love to read more in the Wizarding World. Harry Potter is a very easy and enjoyable series to reread, yet something new--maybe a prequel series about the prior generation or a sequel series featuring the Golden Trio's children.

message 230: by Froorm (new)

Froorm | 1 comments Yes, I have some interesting ideas that everyone should appreciate. First, I want to say right away that Harry Potter is my favorite character, who always inspires me. I even want to make a digital quest room in the style of my favorite hero. Unfortunately this is not my idea, I read the article https://www.raisingedmonton.com/you-c... and realized that I want to make it happen. It seems to me that this is a genius idea, because there are Harry Potter fans all over the world, from the smallest to the adults. Since now there is a global pandemic, people are inventing a variety of ways to entertain the people.

message 231: by TheBeastress (new)

TheBeastress (thebeastress) Given her recently surfaced hatred of certain people, I've cooled on her. She's disappointed me severely, and proven she's a hypocrite: She rights are equality for all and not judging people throughout all seven books, and then goes and oppresses people and judges them.

Nah. Harry Potter was fun in the past, and now it can stay in the past, IMO.

message 232: by Lacey (new)

Lacey | 22 comments I’m not sure if I would want more stories in the Harry Potter universe to be released now. I used to want more quite desperately, specially about the next generation characters. After The Cursed Child and the Fantastic Beasts films not living up to the original in my view, I’ve taken refuge in fanfiction. There’s some good next gen fanfics out there. That isn’t to say that I won’t go and watch the play if I ever get the chance though

message 233: by Lunakelly89 (new)

Lunakelly89 | 1 comments I don't really like the ending of Harry Porter, there's too many losses. But still, it's good enough, so I don't want it keep going. It's better to stop here so that we can keep our good memories about it. Few days ago, I found this Harry porter t-shirton the internet, well, we all know that it's about google ads (and they follow my clicks), but it really touching, you know, after many year being a fan, now I just realized that it's 20 years since the first time I read the story about that boy Harry, and I dont wanna my fav series to lose its magic, so yeah, I don't need any more books.

message 234: by Laura (new)

Laura Echevarria | 5 comments I believe Harry's story is great how it is and does not need any additional books for his story. Still, I would not mind any prequel stories to other characters we have met in the books even if just some short stories.

message 235: by Prazzu (new)

Prazzu | 1 comments I am very happy with the whole 7-book series JK Rowling rolled out on Harry Potter. Best part of it was her writing and ability to describe each character so perfectly. I think it will be very difficult for her to do justice to the book(prequel/sequel) if she rolls out another in same series. May be a different series on a completely different character altogether could be good option. Like on Ted Lupin.

message 236: by elisia_spiering (new)

elisia_spiering I feel like expanding more on the Harry Potter series is like adding sequels to the original Star Wars movies: it would just take away the magic of the series and make it tacky.

message 237: by Vinaya (last edited Jan 26, 2021 03:27AM) (new) - added it

Vinaya (vinayavinod) | 4 comments I badly wants J K Rowling to continue the series , but I don't want poor Harry in more trouble , he has had enough in all his 7 years at Hogwards. I think it'd be fantastic if she wrote a book on the marauders

message 238: by [deleted user] (new)

OF COURSE

So I am a really fast reader i finished all the books in 8 days I want more lets make a petition ......lol

message 239: by Harveen (new)

Harveen yeeeees

message 240: by Zara (new)

Zara | 32 comments I think Rowling should write a book about The Maruders or a prequel from Snape's pov. I really need a prequel.

YES YASSSS

message 242: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (bluespirits) | 5 comments I don't think she necessarily needs to continue books based on Harry. But I would love to see more books or short stories based on others in the Harry Potter Universe.
It would be awesome to read more about The Marauders, or Hagrid's life after he was expelled, or Snape's life when he first joined the Death Eaters, etc. It would even be cool to see more adventures at Ilvermorny.

If she were to write more, I would like them to be fact checked as necessary. Don't want another Fantastic Beasts situations, where there were mistakes made, such as McGonagall being a grown woman when she shouldn't even have been born yet.

message 244: by Sarah (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sarah (sarahpotempa) | 18 comments I think the series ended on a good note. I also like the little branch books that have come out of it. They are informative and entertaining. I like learning about the Wizarding World.

message 245: by Axolotl_7 (new)

Axolotl_7 (-axolotl7-) I think that the end to the series was wonderful, and...honestly adding another book might ruin it a bit for me. I think that side books like fantastic beasts and where to find them are great though

message 246: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Brody | 3 comments I think things ended perfectly in deathly hallows. Many people, myself included, were disappointed with cursed child. We all have this version of the characters in our heads from our childhood, and seeing them change through such a large period of time was sad to say the least. That being said, I would definitely love more wizarding world content, just not a continuation of Harry’s story. I know many people would enjoy a marauders series. Or perhaps even Harry’s story written from someone else’s perspective (dumbledoor’s, hermionies, e.c.t)

message 247: by jillian ౨ৎ (new)

jillian ౨ৎ (jilluminatixxxv) What needs to happen is a Marauders series.

message 248: by Luna (new)

Luna (luna13) No. People are already mad and I'd rather the series be left alone. Plus it would be boring because, tbh, I wouldn't want to read about the trio working at an office and managing life. I used to think a Marauder's prequel would be cool but I think it should be left to fanfiction.

Let's hope it doesn't come to a fanfic like Cursed Child being official.

Yeah.

Cursed Child is a perfect example of a money-grab; if she'd ever write a new story (which would be very controversial) it better be genuine and not OOC.
