Yeah, I had trouble with it, too, Melissa. I think because, in my mind, the trees should be different. It helped to keep looking at the finished bookcover.
During the May Read-a-thon we had challenges galore, such as one with covers of moon...
Complete the eight piece slider below,
and your cupcake stash will receive a boon!

Words turn to other words,PUZZLE #38 - Doublets from "Cakes to Tummy"
moving down the ladder...
The cupcake you'll earn,
will make you even gladder!
Please DO NOT post solution here. Mail to ratminichallenges@gmail.com With Puzzle # in subject line. Be sure to tell me what Team you are on, though I have most of you memorized!
Doublets are word-link puzzles first created by Lewis Carroll. Changing only one letter at a time, and using the clues along the side, go from "cakes" to "tummy"... or vice versa!

From “cakes” to “tummy.”
- CAKES
- forgeries
- plural of the condition of being known or talked about by many people
- title given to a woman equivalent to the rank of knight
- Moisture diffused through air or solid substance or condensed on a surface*
- depressed or unhappy
- short and stout
- model or replica of a human being; puppet, doll, model, manikin
- TUMMY
*3rd person singular present, plural
I'm confused....(so what's new?). Are cupcakes awarded for each person who solves a Doublet and emails the answer or is it again only 1 cupcake per team for the Doublets as well?
Rhonda wrote: "I'm confused....(so what's new?). Are cupcakes awarded for each person who solves a Doublet and emails the answer or is it again only 1 cupcake per team for the Doublets as well?"For doublets (and all puzzles you are mailing) your team gets blinkie cupcake.
Regular cupcake is one per team. With blinkies, every team member that solves and sends puzzle (correctly) is written down so you know who can you use.
To clarify,No matter what type of puzzle you do, you only earn ONE cupcake PER PUZZLE no matter how many of your teammates submit it (whether by posting a screenshot for sliders and puzzles OR by emailing a doublet, etc).
Puzzles submitted by POST are worth one regular cupcake. Puzzles with email requirements are worth one BLINKIE cupcake.
The Blinkie cupcakes have a special use -- they let you replace a 7% solution challenge read with a book that qualifies that someone on your team has already read this year. You can go to the cupcake spreadsheet, look at the people on your team that have turned in an email puzzle, and use the blinkie cupcake to use one of their books. That's why their names are written down in that column -- so you have choices on whose shelf to pull from.
Captain Cupcake - so we can combine our May R-a-T cupcakes and our June/July cupcakes? Will out cupcakes carry over if they aren't "consumed" within the 7% challenge?
Your May Read-a-thon cupcakes are good for this challenge as well, yes.Save all you like. The cupcakes will be good for the whole of Round II. :)
Just note that uses of cupcakes could/will change per challenge, and the number of cupcakes it takes for each use might change as well. :)
