Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 9327 comments I'm running this thread to see who are interested for May.

Here are Tricia's instructions for this challenge:

Explanation:
Ever do a secret santa or xmas exchange?
This is JUST like that, except instead of a gift you will be giving the person, it will be the choice of BOOK they must read for the month.

We will be doing this via sign ups, then the names will be randomly done and assigned.
Whatever name you get, you choose the book they must read, preferably the book chosen should not be in their TBR list. This is the whole point of the challenge! ;)
After the book is read they will post that they are done as well as how they liked the book chosen, with a short or long review.

Post in this thread if you are interested please! Also post with questions if you are unsure.
(clearly mark that you are playing in your post please also!)

Signing up period will remain open until April 29. I'll announce the pairing on April 30. Then you have up to the third of May to choose your recommendation.

Yz => Adrienne (Yz has chosen for Adrienne: Eternal Pleasure by Nina Bangs)

To explain these are NOT pairs. One person chooses for another person in the group. All names have been chosen out of the virtual hat (so to speak)

The name after the arrow is who you are choosing the book for.

You have until the 3rd to post your recommendations.

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 9327 comments Welcome to the group, Keyona.

I would need you to either make your shelves public or be willing to invite as a friend your assigned partner/s, so they can take a peek at your books. Would that be okay with you?

message 8: by Kasia (new)

Kasia Keyona, you'd have to make your profile public for this challenge... or at least add whomever is going to recommend a book to you as a friend... Otherwise it doesn't work. (And that's for everybody here)

Kristen Harvey For Keyona - Impossible

I noticed you had some YA books, so I chose one that wasn't on your list that involves romance and paranormal elements. I loved it so I hope you do as well.

message 38: by Yz the Whyz, Moderator (last edited Apr 30, 2009 07:03PM) (new)

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 9327 comments Adrienne: I really wanted to chose a book with angels in it, but the ones that I knew you have either already read or is already in your TBR shelf.

However, I noticed that you are a fan of Ward's BDB series, so maybe you will enjoy another series that has warriors in them.

I recommend Eternal Pleasure by Nina Bangs, the first of a series that involves a group of warriors called upon to save the world based upon an ancient Mayan prediction. I had fun reading this book, and I hope you will too.

message 39: by Malena (new)

Malena (badgalmalmal) Yz: What a tough choice. You have so many books on your tbr.

For you I recommend Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder. It's about a girl named Yelena who is about to be excuted and has to choose between a quick death or slow poison. I really enjoyed it, I hope you do too.

Poison Study (Study, Book 1) by Maria V. Snyder

message 40: by Barbara ★ (new)

Barbara ★ | 3901 comments Tosca: you seem to love paranormal romance so I choose Lara Adrian's Kiss of Midnight which is the first book in her series. I really enjoy this one and hope you do too.

I am also recommending the following books that you might enjoy based on your shelves.

Dark Obsession A Novel of Blackheath Moor by Allison Chase (ghosts)
Cast in Shadow by Michelle Sagara (urban fantasy)
Angels' Blood by Nalini Singh (archangels)

message 41: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 367 comments Annie,

You like fairy tales and rated several fantasy books pretty high on your list, so I'm recommending [image error]

If you have already read that, I recommend any of these as backup: Bloodfever by Karen Marie Moning, Tiger Eye by Marjorie M. Liu, or Mistress of the Art of Death by Ariana Franklin.

message 42: by Lori (new)

Lori (moderatrixlori) Amanda, since you like paranormal and historical books, my pick for you is The Smoke Thief. I hope you like it!

message 43: by Keyona (new)

Keyona | 21 comments Thanks Kristen! I look forward to reading it.Lara, I picked Minion for you because of your interest in J.R. Ward and the Twilight series.I hope you enjoy it as much as I did :)

message 44: by Tasha (new)

Tasha (tasha_avidbookaholic) | 85 comments Valerie, you seem to be a fan of paranormal, so I chose for you Undead and Unwed by MaryJanice Davidson.

message 45: by Melody (new)

Melody (melos) Melissa, hi from upstate! :O)

You've totally outread me! But it looks like you enjoy the same somewhat silly authors as I do, and I'm hoping you'll enjoy Minda Webber's The Remarkable Miss Frankenstein.

The Remarkable Miss Frankenstein by Minda Webber

If she seems just too silly, you might read Tara Janzen's Crazy Hot which I see in you TBR pile. She's great! Especially for us MI gals who love our men even more when clothed in smokin' hot cars! :O)

message 46: by Sherrill (last edited Apr 30, 2009 09:21PM) (new)

Sherrill My pick for Annvelwis is:

[Book: A Version of the Truth] by Jennifer Kaufman

I thought of this book as it is a light read which I recently enjoyed. I hope you will too.

message 47: by Adrienne (last edited Apr 30, 2009 10:44PM) (new)

Thank you for a pick. I think I will enjoy it.
Thing is... there's a very little chance I can get it in a month, so I really would like to ask for patience.

message 50: by tosca (new)

tosca (catatonichataholic) | 742 comments Sarah - omg firstly YAY I had such fun going through your bookshelves! What a treasure trove. There were so many books I wanted to recommend that you'd read LOL In the end I decided on a choice of 3 books Dark Thirst by Sara Reinke (vampire/romance), Storm Front by Jim Butcher (urban fantasy) and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows (general fiction). I checked that you hadn't listed them as read and they weren't BUT if you have just let me know :)
