Good question, Ann.
I would usually prefer copyright year or first publication year. However, you can also use the publication year of the book copy you are actually reading. I'll leave it up to your discretion which will fit better for your challenge.

Jennifer - I've read a few of the Dresdens... :) I just don't know about reading so many in a row. We shall see!!Woah.. May??!!! I can't wait!! YAY!!!! Been too long without Sookie!!!
Ok guys, I'm home from the convention. I'm EXHAUSTED! But I got 29 recordings for the podcast! YAY! The interviews were great and I ended up coming home with three new books!! HAHA Oh and one ebook that I got permission to give away in the future. But I'm so gonna read it!!! I have this great looking urban fantasy, I have a vampire novel, I have a crazy looking superhero novel... I'm thinking that I'll try to fit them into whatever YZ gives us for June! Or possibly May in case I can't deal with so many Dresden in a row...
I'm in. Tentative list:2001: Bitten by Kelley Armstrong

2006: No Rest for the Wicked by Kresley Cole
2007: Hell's Belles by Jackie Kessler
2008:
2009: Dead and Gone by Charlaine Harris
And here I am again, reading stuff when I should be working. Oh well.I'll have to go through my shelves to see what I have. I know there are some older books, and some books I want to read. I'd like to put the new JR Ward down as my '09 book, but...
Yeah. I'll be here.
Yay--I've finally decided on ONE of my books for this challenge. Now to wait for it to get here.

Yz you're killing me with these challenges b/c I do my best NOT to cross-read books. Well here goes...2009 -
2008 -
2007 -
2006 - I See You by Holly Lisle
2005 - Taming the Barbarian by Lois Greiman
2004 -
2003 -
2002 - Street Magic by Tamora Pierce
2001 -
Many changes this month and I even had to add some none PNR books in order to complete this challenge. I've been so busy reading books that I've sold, that I haven't been able to read anything originally on this list. So far this month I've read 31 books but very few that fit into this challenge. Damn!
Barbara,
Nothing wrong with cross-challenging books...Hey, it can be fun to see how many books you can cross-challenge...try it...LOL

Barbara, you think you're gonna read Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell and read 8 other books next month? Good luck! LOL. (I started that book almost a year ago and I'm still only halfway through.)
Nichole I thought that same thing!!!!!! LOL I was like 'OMG I think Barbara has lost her mind!' I'm supposed to read that one this year but I've been too afraid to start it... I have the audio book and it's over 30 hours long!Barbara if you manage to read Strange & Norrell and 8 other books you will be crowned the ruler over all of us. We bow at your feet and shout our unworthiness...
Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell is okay. The looong footnotes were a bit much. I read it earlier this month and only gave it three stars. My sister came to visit a few days after I finished it and when we started talking about books she told me she was almost done with it! Pretty strange we were both reading it at the same time and didn't know it. It would be different if it had been a brand new book but that one is a few years old!
I am new to this group and I am just a bit confused. Which list am i suppose to be reading for the month of May
I am really excited about the new Sookie Stackhouse book as well...But I only read the whole series a few months ago, so I don't really want to reread any right now...I might have to put Dead and Gone off till the end of May cause I've already got a book for 2009 on list and I'm eager to catch up with the DHs amongst other things...
You make up your own list Catherine. Just match up books you're interested in that were published in 2009 - 2000. One for each.
Catherine wrote: "I am new to this group and I am just a bit confused. Which list am i suppose to be reading for the month of May "Hi, Catherine! Welcome to the group!
This is a reading challenge. Yz gives us a list of 9 categories every month, and you get to choose which books you read that fit into the categories.
This month we're reading a book that was published in each year of this century. So you need to pick a book that was published in 2001, one that was published in 2002 and so forth through 2009.
Since this is a paranormal romance group, we try to make sure the books fit in that genre or at least have some paranormal elements.
You can look at other people's lists to get ideas of books you can read, but your final decision is up to you.
Have fun! It's a great way to prune down your TBR - in theory, but in actuality this challenge usually makes it bigger. :) But we have lots of fun doing it.
Okay, I went rummaging through my stacks of TBRs and found 5 books that will fit in this challenge. So far, I have:2001: The Secret Swan by Shana Abe.
2002:
2003:
2004:
2005: Afterburn Bio Rescue #2 by S.L. Viehl
2006: The Dawn Star by Catherine Asaro
2007: True Deception by Patricia Waddell
2008: Gale Force by Rachel Caine
2009: Can't decide...
I've had the Waddell and Caine books on my list before. Just need to finish them. I Want to finish them.
As for those early years, I think I'm going to have to go look around here at GoodReads. I've got some J.A. Krentz reprints, but they're TOO old to fit. Maybe I'll see what Butcher has and read a couple of new-to-me Harry Dresdens...
I checked on The Dream Thief--I don't have it already, and it matched the date of a book I do have, so... I also checked the e-book price of the new JR Ward, and it's almost as high as the actual hardcover. I'm too cheap to go for that, so...
We will see.
Welcome to the challenge, Catherine. Nichole explained this month's challenge quite well.
Have fun putting your list together.

I'm supposed to be doing Strange and Norrel with a friend this year but I can't get motivated to start it. Mostly because I have so many other audiobooks to listen to and I don't have time for them and they are far shorter. I don't have the book... my husband listened to it and thinks we're nuts. ROFL He says he wants a flair that says "I survived Norrel and Strange" HAHAHA If I wasn't trying to do this challenge every month it would probably be a different story though. With the kids I just cannot get through 9 books if I choose a tome like that one. Hopefully one day... :)

lol, I love it too Terri. Of course, I also loved "Bimbos of the Death Sun" and "Zombies of the Gene Pool" both by Sharyn McCrumb. And weirdly enough--NEITHER has anything to do with scifi, fantasy, or anything paranormal. They are both mysteries.
Oz and I are heading out very soon (I'm just waiting to be picked up) so we will be gone for the next 4 days. Unless the hotel has free wifi. :o)
You guys have fun, and we'll "see" you all when we get back

Nice, yes they are Feehan but at 2.00 a.m. this morning my finger was hitting the question mark key instead of the ditto ditto keys. I started the challenge a day ago because New Zealand is first to see the sun, yay
2001: The Secret Swan by Shana Abe.2002: Kushiel's Dart by Jacqueline Carey
2003: The Devil Wears Prada by ??
2004: Still stuck...
2005: Afterburn Bio Rescue #2 by S.L. Viehl
2006: The Dawn Star by Catherine Asaro
2007: True Deception by Patricia Waddell
2008: Gale Force by Rachel Caine
2009: Eternal Craving by Nina Bangs
I have the Kushiel book in a box under my bed, instead of on a shelf in my office. I've had it a long time, and have been afraid of it, mostly because it's just such a thick, intimidating-looking book. And because I'm afraid I'll get sucked so deep into it I'll stay up all night, or something, and I really don't have time for that... Maybe I can find a 2004 book in the box...
I know the Prada book isn't PNR, but it's on my shelf, and I haven't read it, and I don't think I have anything else from that date...
I had picked out a 2004 book, but discovered I couldn't get hold of it easily, so I'm still looking for one there.
Got an e-mail from Nina Bangs that she'd received her books and was mailing me one on Monday--she had cataract surgery this week! And wanted to wait a couple more days before she ventured from her condo. At least she's finally back in her own place. She got flooded out by Hurricane Ike, and has been living with Gerry Bartlett (of the "Real Vampires" series) while waiting for her place to get fixed. Anyway, that's decided me.
I want to do ETERNAL CRAVING for my 2009 book. I really loved her first book in this series and told everybody who would hold still, so that's why she's getting me my very own copy from her very own hands. :)

I have them set aside to read soon.
Also by Feehan, A Very Gothic Christmas was published in 2001.AND, in 2002, Feehan had an award winner in an anthology called Fantasy. Here is a link to the 2002 PNR PEARL award winners.

Yes, I have read them. They are my favorite. I own them in print and audiobook.
It's so hard for me to find a book in the years I am missing because, I have read all of the following...christine Feehan's (GhostWalkers & The Dark Series , Laurell k. Hamilton's (Anita Blake & Merry Gentry),Kim Harrison's (The Hollows), Charlaine Harris's (Sookie Stakhouse), Karan Chance's, Vicki Petterson;s, Ione's,Janet Evanovich's (plum), Gena Showalter's(Underworld), Karen Marie Moning's (fever), Mary JaniceDavidson (Queen Betsy), Lora Leigh's (Breed), Sherrilyn Kenyon's(Dark-Hunter)
But the Last four I picked I have not re-read in years.
