YAY! Congrats, Christina! So awesome! Shame on ya'll for not taking pics! LOL! >.<
I'll be reading

Rated 4 stars
This sequel to The Immortal Rules was definitely a lot darker, but I really liked it. We get to spend time with new vampire characters and really get a feel for the world that has been built. The rabids were perfect in this book. It's almost like a zombie hoard, but they are even more terrifying because they are quick!!
Jackal was hilarious. I really enjoyed his character. I want to get to the backstory between him and Kanin so much! I think his growth has a lot to offer if he is developed correctly in the 3rd book. The ending is such a cliffhanger though!!! My heart stopped a little! I know they aren't real people but dang... what an ending. I got so excited, and then so crushed. I'm not sure how I will survive the wait for the 3rd book!

I really don't like love triangles. I haven't read her fey series, but I'm so glad there isn't one in Eden.

Kari -- I'll link it up here shortly. :D
Steph and Sandra -- I know, I know. I'm still mentally kicking myself. I didn't know about her camera until afterwards -- otherwise I would have given her mine for the ceremony. Argh!

Review:
Magic Rises begins with Kate sparring with Julie or rather trying to get Julie out of her funk and into the training exercise. They jab and poke at each other with their snark, but in the end, Julie gets her way and rushes off.
This light-hearted beginning lulls us, makes us happy to see the relationship between the two growing, especially after what Kate went through to save Julie. That sense of peace ends abruptly, however, when Kate is rushed to Doolittle's where two changeling sisters are suffering. They're going lupe, as so many of the Pack's children do, and there's nothing she can do to save them. The one way they can be saved is with a magical solution known as panacea, which is produced by European shapeshifters. Highly guarded and hard to come by, the Pack has been trying to recreate panacea but has had no success.
So, when the European packs invite Curran to guard a pregnant changeling, Desandra, and serve as impartial witness to the birth until the inheritance squabbles are settled, he jumps at the offer. He does so because the payment for this job is ten drums of panacea, which will give each baby born to the Pack a 40% better chance of survival. For this, they are will to venture across "... the ocean in the middle of hurricane season, go to a foreign country filled with hostile shapeshifters, and babysit a pregnant woman, while everyone plots and waits for an opportunity to stab {them} in the back."
Once there, they knew they would have to maintain an iron hold on their tempers. As always, that's sometimes easier said than done. From the moment they arrive at Castle Megobari things go downhill.
I'll end there as to not spoil anything for anyone. Suffice to say, this book is FULL of intense moments. As always, there is some humor splashed about to break the tension. But, for me, Magic Rises is the best of the series so far. I've no doubt I say that after every book in the series, but it's absolutely true at the time. The series continues to get better with each new release. This writing duo continues to not only up the ante and raise the bar but also surpass it. A book and series lover's dream! Now, we all must suffer the long wait for book #7.
Kate's terms of endearment for Curran:
Your Furry Majesty
Your Furriness
Your Foolishness
His Furriness
Boy toy / man candy

Review:
This is an adult spin off of her YA series The Lux.
Serena's best friend Mel tells her a bizarre story of the man she has been seeing is an alien and her world spins out of control.
Serena watches her best friend die and she is rescued by a gorgeous but arrogant man named Hunter.
Turns out Hunter is an alien and a killer for hire. Serena takes the news of the earth being filled with many aliens quite well and really she just kind of goes with the flow with all the things happening in her life.
Her and Hunter fall in love and she changes him by making him realize that he is more then just an unfeeling killer.
Of course she makes stupid choices and Hunter comes to her rescue.
Overall I did enjoy the book but it in the long run it was just your typical romance book with alpha male and a female that can bring him to his knees

This is my first weekend of in 7 weeks and I am taking advantage by lounging around the house and just reading.(working in retail sucks sometimes)

Tortured Hero
This is a winning shelf for Team 14 -- they still need their Supernatural and Alien stamps....so this might not be the end of the game yet. :) I'm still picking a book, just in case. ;)

I6: Paranormal Mix/Paranormals - Archangel's Kiss - ★★★★ - 31 Jul 13
It took me a bit to get into the story, mostly because I was trying to read it while in Georgia. Once I got back home, I almost finished it in one sitting.
One of the things I liked about the book was that Elena didn't come out of her coma knowing how to be an angel and she wasn't all-powerful. It seemed more realistic, especially since the book begins shortly after she awakens. Had the book started after she'd already learned everything and was fully recuperated then that would have been fine, too, and I would have expected her to be more capable based on how much time had passed from her awakening.
However, I also thought it was a bit of a hindrance. Because Elena was still weak, it limits what she could do. There isn't a lot of action for her. She trains with various members of Raphael's Seven, and she's called upon to use her hunter skills to help solve a mystery, but she can only do so much. She hasn't learned to fly yet and she wouldn't last long against older, more powerful beings.
I will continue this series. Of the two, the Psy-Changeling series is still my favorite. I enjoy the author's writing and I look forward to reading more from her.

:) thanks! I tried.
Aw, a winning shelf? Hopefully they read slowly and won't get all of those stamps in one week. In case we keep going, and hopefully we will, I'll most likely read DARKEST CRAVING. I'll let ya know if I choose something different.
Happy reading, Naughty Nooners! :)

G16: Tortured Hero - Lord of the Abyss - ★★★★★ - 4 Aug 13
Though this was the last book in a 4-part, multi-authored, series, it can be read as a stand-a-lone.
The story had a bit of "Beauty and the Beast" theme, with a twist. Both characters take on both rolls, in a way, in the story.
I loved Micah. He literally slept through his childhood years until he was old enough to take on the roll of guardian. He's a combination of arrogant alpha male and mischievous little boy. Micah may scare the bejeesus out of people, but he wouldn't harm the innocent. It's a lonely existence and he interacts with only a few beings on regular basis. Plus he's cursed. At one point, he actually does turn into a beast!
Lilianna is NOT a beautiful maiden -- ugly, in fact. Despite this, Micah falls for her. Lily sought out Micah because she was determined to help save his kingdom and restore him to his family. Her own life and childhood were horrific, yet she survived and is a strong person.
I chose to read this book because of the author. I love her writing. I don't know if I'll read the other three books in the mini-series.

Well, they got their Alien stamp (as you know). That leaves just the 3 or so reviews for Tortured Hero.

I'll probably finish my read for TH today. I read the first book in the RHoS series, but need to get back to it and read the other 3. Glad to hear you liked #4.

These are fun. :) I'm sure you'll soon be bombarded with questions of when the next round of Bingo will start and/or what other team games you've got in the works. ;-)

Series: Lords of the Underworld #10
Shelf: Tortured Heroes
Read: 7 Aug
Rating: 3.5★
Review:
The Darkest Craving is Kane's story. He carries Disaster. His demon "caused catastrophes everywhere Kane went". For this and other reasons, Josephina Aisling (a Fae) finds him very attractive. She's learned about and followed the Lords' lives by reading centuries worth of stories created by the Fae scribes based on information received from spies who follow the warriors. The Lords are "... stars of the best and worst soap opera in Séduire, the realm of the Fae."
Josephina's half-sister, Princess Syndra carries the demon of Irresponsibility. The Fae king has been hunting for a way to remove the demon without harming his daughter, but so far, he's been unsuccessful. Josephine is punished, in place of Syndra, whenever she/her demon causes trouble. Her most recent punishment? "A ticket to the Never-ending - a portal leading into hell." When she stumbled upon Kane chained in hell, she couldn't believe her luck. She sees him as her ticket to freedom and acceptance. After making him promise to help her, she frees him from his binds and gets him to safety.
Josephina's humor was hilarious at times, but a bit annoying at others. I have been waiting for Kane's story for years, but I was somewhat disappointed. That said, it was heartbreaking to learn about all that he has suffered and made me like him even more for his strength. It was great learning more about him and seeing him find his HEA, but I found I was more interested in the side stories about Torin and Cameo. So, I'm super excited to read The Darkest Touch due out in 2014, which suggests Torin's story is up next.

Review: This book wasn't anything super spectacular in my opinion, however it was a nice easy read for an afternoon off work. The whole premise of vampires actually being aliens made sense in a bizarre way and I enjoyed that twist to the vampire genre. However, a lot of the mind control things that Lucan did in the beginning were a little too non-consensual for me, even if Gabrielle never got pissed about it later. I may continue the series eventually but definitely not high on my priority list.

However, all the hard work at work has paid off.... I got a promotion today!! Woo hoo!! :) It's been a good day in Kari-land

Congrats on the promotion! :D
And now...the bad news. I just came from Team 14's thread...and the last stamp request was submitted. So, that's it. The game's all but over -- official stamping of the card, etc.

Thank you Christina you were a great captain.

Yeah. She didn't bring her camera. She had her phone and she did take a picture of the stage (before the ceremony) but she didn't like how it looked.
I could kick myself -- the next day, at the Regiment's compound, they had static displays, where visitors could interact with the Soldiers and learn about the weapons, gear, and the like. She had a blast talking to them and asking them questions. Most of the guys on this detail were the younger ones. She'd ask them why they joined the Army/the Regiment, how long they'd been in, how much the equipment cost (like they'd even know that). It was fun listening to her talk to them.
I was so busy watching her, I didn't think take a single picture of her talking to the guys, even though I had my camera with me.
