Lys (lysrowan) Lol. No. I only worry when the phone Auto corrects my words to unintelligibility.

For instance, this sentence was about unintelligent coffee a Second ago. And ransoms (random) caps. Stupid iPhone.
That's what I get for typing from bed.

Lol! You guys are awesome!

The Seven Deadly Sins...I was going to mention that earlier and I forgot. I didn't really get where that fit in either. It was kind of like it was thrown in at the last minute without really a thought as to where it was going to go.

Diana as a mother - horrible. What was the purpose of her spending four years sick? Just to make sure her daughter was alienated from the rest of the world? Or was it more like she knew she would need leverage to get Kate to agree to go with Henry and that was the best she could come up with...Anything to save my mother, even giving up my life to spend it with some stranger.

Why six months? Persephone stayed there for six months (or winter, whatever), but why wouldn't he just keep Kate all the time since her mother was already there and she had no other family to go see?

Despite all the mythos flaws (which I would have never known had you not pointed them out) I did like the story.

Adding to the rants above about sex/rape/etc....

I didn't know the story of Hades and Persephone (I knew who Hades, of course, but didn't know who Persephone was) - but after looking up the story, why change it to an "arranged marriage" rather than telling it like it was - AND making him a virgin?? I remember at one point one of the (Calliope?) telling Kate that him and Persephone had never had sex, which even reading at the time I thought was stupid, considering all the sex going on in the book. Was there a point to that? Sex is supposed to wait for true love? Except Kate and him weren't really in love yet when they had sex...so?

BTW Gwenn, you are so completely awesome for finding a way to bring Back to the Future into this conversation! You are officially my hero for the day :)

I want to hear what you thought of The Goddess Hunt, Alyssia.

The Good: We got to see a bit of Henry. I think this was my favorite part. In the first book he was so mysterious? Not really present? I'm not sure what word I'm looking for – but we never got to really get to know him or see his personality.

The Bad: Kate JUST got married like a couple of days ago and now she's running all over the world with this god guy who very obviously has a crush on her? If I were her husband I would be pissed. I'm REALLY hoping this is not going to turn into a Henry-Kate-James thing. Do you see that coming? I thought Kate's character seemed a lot more immature in this story, too. She swears a lot (damn) – which she did not do at all in the first book. Where did that come from? Not that I mind the swearing in books, but it is just out of character for her.

Lys (lysrowan) I felt like the Goddess Hunt really specifically tried to address some of the complaints fans might have had with teh first book. On that count, it was fairly smart. I didn't really like it, but I did notice that a LOT of the things we mentioned came up in a short span on time. I also liked the Castor/Pollux stuff.
Is this going to be a love=triangle book series? I don't know that I would be surprised. That's a pretty popular move adn Carter seems to be doing all the popular things - mysterious male, innocent naive female. He's older than dirt, but looking for "the one". She's not living her fragile like ... blah blah.
That being said, I don't mind her going off with James too much. He was her buddy from before Henry, and the book made it clear that she was valuing him as a true friend. When he's waiting for her at the gate after she's thrust outside for an arbitray hiatus from her new wedding ... yeah. I mean, if I were Kate, I would go with him.
I don't think the Castor/Pollux thing was an accident though. James is clearly trying to alienate her from Henry and Henry is not going to allow it.

Oh, but this whole:
HOW CAN I GO SIX MONTHS WITHOUT HIM? bullcrap is a BIIIT much.
