Seed was my introduction to her as well. The Bird Eater is my favorite thus far, though.

I have started Life of Pi by Yann Martel

I have seen the movie, twice. Reading a book after seeing the movie is something I only do very rarely.

Alondra Miller Currently reading The Secret Speech (Leo Demidov, #2) by Tom Rob Smith , and enjoying it. Dark and grimy as usual with Leo Demidov. Not sure how this winds up, but I will be glad. I need some hope or joy, sheesh! LOL

Also glanced at Night Watch (Watch #1) by Sergei Lukyanenko , and think I will love it. Vampires and other worldly creatures are right up my alley!

I will also pick up Turn Coat (The Dresden Files, #11) by Jim Butcher to round out my 3. I love the Dresden Files!!

Nancy (paper_addict) | 942 comments I am reading Last Year. I just noticed on the cover it quotes SK: "Robert Charles Wilson is a hell of a storyteller." If I'd known that I would have waited and tried nominating it for the 'King recommended' group reads, lol.

Nick Iuppa | 4272 comments Just finished THE DEVIL'S HIGHWAY. Not the kind of book most people read here... non-fiction but a true horror story nevertheless. It's about an attempted border crossing from Mexico into the US where everything goes terribly wrong. 26 men started the journey. Only 12 survived and all of them were almost dead when they were rescued by the border patrol. Here's the location of my review:

It's good so far, I've seen the three seasons of the tv series and can't wait for the fourth season to start.

message 4583: by Erin (new)

Erin (ems84) | 2676 comments That's how I felt about The Strain. I thought the book series was pretty good, overall, but I couldn't stick with the T.V. show.

Now reading:

Relic (Pendergast, #1) by Douglas Preston

As of now, the first one is my favorite but the second book was close behind. I've got high hopes for this one and actually already plan to reread the series.

message 4595: by ElleEm (new)

ElleEm | 260 comments I finished The Lovely Bones a few days ago and I can't get it out of my head. You are all prolific readers so you have probably already read it but if you haven't I highly recommend it. The book is beautifully written. The first of the book is a little disturbing but it is so much more than just a crime novel. It is one of my favorite books and I went into it with some apprehension because of the very mixed reviews.

message 4596: by Glen (new)

Glen | 231 comments I read The Twelve quite a while after the Passage and characters felt foggy to me and I was quite lost. Before I pick up City of Mirrors I plan to reread The Passage and The Twelve again so I feel familiar with the assortment of characters that span over the course of time.
Until then I am rereading Year of The Flood by Margaret Atwood after finishing Oryx and Crake a little bit ago so I can finally read MaddAddam.

message 4597: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (paper_addict) | 942 comments The MaddAddam Trilogy: Oryx and Crake; The Year of the Flood; MaddAddamis also one of my favorite series!

I reread both The Passage and The Twelve before reading The City of Mirrors. It had been such a long time since I had read them. I was glad I did. The ending of the series was perfect.

In college, this was an assigned reading. I got sick over some holiday break and had to go into the infirmary overnight. Because of the holiday, no one was there (and I mean no one) just me alone, in a bed in the corner of an enormous room full of empty beds, almost no lights but my little bedside light, reading turn of the screw, listening to strange creaking noises everywhere, and absolutely FREAKING OUT.
