Finished the excellent The Night Parade
by Ronald Malfi. This guy really is a professional at what he does. If you're interested, you can read my reviews at:

Nancy wrote: "Unwind is a really good book!"It is! I finished it last night, and I can't wait to start the second book. Lev's character development is amazing.
Nick wrote: "Rhian wrote: "I loved my re-read of secret window secret garden..." I saw this movie when it first came out, and I'm not sure how I would feel about it if I saw it today for the first time, but back then I thought it was really entertaining-- and a little funny at bits, even while it was dark at others. The cast is definitely talented.
In terms of truthfulness to the story, I would say it's more of a 1408 adaptation than a Green Mile one, if that helps you decide if you want to watch it :)

Thanks, Nicole. I bought it during some DVD sale somewhere so I think I'd better give it a look.

It's tempting to read all the Crichton books I have at once but I like to spread his books out since I don't come across them to purchase that often.
Gavin wrote: "I'm reading Dune"Great, great book... read it years before I ever got into Stephen King. Only read the first in the series, though. It'll be interesting to know if you want to keep reading after you finish the first book.

I need to remember to look for some at the used bookstore. I don't get over that way too often though,
Finished Career of Evil, third book of thes series. This is the darkest of the three, focused about a serial killer, but also around the stories of various characters, often wth an aboscure past of violence. Now I'm reading Preacher, Volume 6: War in the Sun and even if I rad only a little part, it looks another nice book.
Finished Ghoul
by Marc Alexander. A fun read from the Eighties that has a nice, slow burn reminiscent of J.N. Williamson or Charles Grant. If you're interested, you can read my review at:

Finished Savages
by Greg F. Gifune. This one has now supplanted everything else that I've read and is now my favorite book of 2016!As always, you can read my review at:

Just finished The Summer that Melted Everything, deep, dark, heartbreaking, covers a multitude of issues. Beautifully written, but at times overly prose-y Just started Under the Dome
Just posted my review of The Shining, my first reread in about a dozen years. Actually, it's more of a comparison of the film and the movie, about what's good about each. Check it out:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I finished the girl with all the gifts and also read the face of fear by Dean Koontz I enjoyed them both, now reading Darkness by Victoria Sadler which I won on goodreads
Finished Nightmare Town
by Dashiell Hammett. A nice collection of hard boiled stories that fans of the genre should consider checking out. Rating 3/5.My thoughts https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Finished Annihilation (Southern Reach #1) this morning, and now onto The Darkest Minds (The Darkest Minds #1).
After finishing the first Mistborn book, I'm afraid to go on so looking for a good Haloween read. I think I've settled on Speaks the Nightbird by Robert McCammon but I also have his other novel Boy's Life. I haven't read him yet but I heard he's great if you enjoy King.
Finished Playback
by Raymond Chandler. A less than perfect swansong to the best detective series of all time but still a quite good book in its own right. Rating - 4/5.My thoughts https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Rhian wrote: "I'm reading Firestarter by King it's one I never got around to reading"A very underrated tale. How are you liking it?
Brandon, "Boy's Life" is one of my all time favorites. Just finished "Under The Dome",
started "Braineater Jones". Pretty funny so far. About to start "The Elementals" for a group read.
Finished Joyland
by Stephen King. All the King signatures are here well developed characters, an interesting premise, lucid writing and the inevitable mess of an ending. Rating - 3/5.My thoughts on the book https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Boozing Betting and Brawling by Mel Sterland. Football (Soccer to my friends across the pond) player who was playing in the 1980's. Very good.
I just put "Bag Of Bones" away for another time - just to damned slow! Next up? "Carrie". #ConstantReader

Awe that sucks. I just bought BoB on audible as it is such a well reviewed King. Haven't started it just yet.

Thanks so much for the input. Going to check it out after I wrap up Doctor Sleep.

Sorry to hear that Bag of Bones doesn't work for some of you. I thought it was great and the audiobook read by Stephen King works especially well. It is pretty slow getting started, I'll admit, raising the question how do you write about being bored without boring your readers. Anyway, once it gets going it picks up speed. There's some of King's best horror in the book and I thought the characters were really well developed. If I were you, Brandon, I'd try the audiobook. It ends up being a great story.

Finished up The Jack in the Green
by Frazer Lee. The ending of this one seemed rushed and tacked on.You can read my review at:

11.22.63Just coming to the end, I have loved it so far and thought I knew how it would end but now I'm not so sure
Finished Poodle Springs
by Robert B. Parker. A good detective yarn that however does not measure up to the Chandler classics. Rating - 3/5.My thoughts https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
