Finished the excellent Stolen Away
by Kristin Dearborn.Review at: https://kenmckinley.wordpress.com/201...
I finished After Anna by Alex Lake today and I thought it was so good I rated it 5 ★, I won a novella on Friday I think I'll read that next it's called Harvest Festival by Karl Drinkwater
Just finished Bones of the Moon - amazing magical realism. My review is at:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Also finished re-reading Mr. Mercedes and plan to revise my earlier negative review soon. Just started The Fireman by Joe Hill.
Reading GET IN TROUBLE by Kelly Link. Fantastic stories that blend the mundane with the surreal. Playful and frightening and magical, all at once. Great stuff.
I'm reading In Cold Blood by Truman Capote. It's not the greatest book I've ever read but it's pretty good. If my high school English teachers knew I was reading all the books I was assigned after I faked my way through so many essays they would not be happy.
Just picked up the audio book of Blindsighted per advice from Rhian. Getting ready for another gut-wrenching experience. :-)
Finished The Long Walk last week (4 stars, but still need to write a review) and I'm about to start Dead Zone.
Randy wrote: "I'm trying a sample of "Carrion Comfort" -cool premise."One of my favorite Dan Simmons.
My daughter owns On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft and she has been wanting me to read it for the last 6 months. So I told her I will start it today,
Gavin wrote: "I'm reading The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy"Wonderful! After the Dark Tower, this is my favorite series :)
Finished The Sea of Monsters and now I'm reading The Titan's Curse. Interesting series, for mythological elements and the fun.
The Way of Kings
I'm about 2/3 through. It has multiple excellent stories woven together. At first, I didn't like it (I thought the fantasy was much too fantastical), but now I am loving it.

If you enjoy that one I highly recommend reading Words of Radiance also. Those are two of my favorite books.
I am about halfway done with Misery and I am really enjoying it so far.

I love that book. It's so timely despite taking place decades ago. The spirit of the story never changes.
Pet Sematary (Stephen King) I was encouraged several times to dig into it, so we'll see how it goes.
Peace
I've finished The Titan's Curse, another chapter of Percy Jackson series. I think I'll read all the books, so now I'm reading The Battle of the Labyrinth.

I honestly wasn't a fan of it and I love his books so it was disappointing that I couldn't get into it.
Just started Rubbernecker by Belinda Bauer I think I'm going to enjoy this one, finished The sudden departure of the Frasers thought it was good definitely read more by Louise Candlish
Finishing Wizard's First Rule by Terry Goodkind. Not a great read. Looking forward to starting Gone Girl with my wife.
Holly wrote: "Loved Gone Girl..hope you and your wife enjoy it Brandon!"The only Gillian Flynn book I haven't read yet. I need to get myself a copy.
Just finished The Fireman. My review is posted at https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...Starting Blindsighted by Karen Slaughter.

I thought Rule's book was really great AND terrifying. I read it because I was a little uncertain about King's portrayal of Brady in Mr. Mercedes. I think it helped clarify King's character for me, But you are right, Tanya Marie, King didn't do it nearly as well. I also listened to the audiobook and thought that it was very well done and especially frightening.

I had completely forgotten about this thread until your comment, Nick! Stephen King did a great job for fiction but that just pales in comparison to the real thing that Rule lays out in her book on Bundy. I more recently read Mr. Mercedes and there's no doubt in my mind that he has read and re-read Rule when constructing his antagonist.
I'm glad you enjoyed Rule. She also wrote a fantastic novel on The Green River Killer called Green River, Running Red. Worth looking into!
