What Are You Reading Now? Pt 2.

"Superhero" is not exactly the word I'd use... a tragic hero, maybe, but even that is tenuous.

Okay... antihero
Iam currently Reading heart-shaped Box by joe Hill. The son of Steven King. Iam half way Through and I must say that i really like It. I Try not to compare It to Kings work. I think it stands very well on its own

Rhian wrote: "@Nick I loved all the photos and articles they really added that something special to the book and I loved the characters too I'm still thinking about this book weeks later"Hey Rhian, I wanted to come back again and thank you for the recommendation on NIGHT FILM. What a book... still not done with it but enjoying every minute.

Hill's other novels actually have more humor and that is really great... maybe taking Mr. King up a notch. Hill's humor is really refreshing, I think.
@Nick so glad you're enjoying it I'm lending my copy to a friend this week but it's one I'll be having back I know I'll read it again sometime in the future

I have started last night to re read The Stand by Stephen King Its been years since i read this and I though i give it another reread
Finished The Lady in the Lake by Raymond Chandler, another great addition to the Philip Marlowe series. It boasts of the most convoluted plot in the series hence it's a joy to read how Marlowe unravels it. All the myriad mysteries align to fit the puzzle perfectly but it needed a generous helping of coincidences along its way for all of it come together. So won't give it a perfect score. Rating - 4/5.
I am currently on "The Road Virus Heads North" in Everything's Eventual and I am starting The Terror by Dan Simmons today.
Finished The Namesakeby Jhumpa Lahiri. A flawed piece of insipid self-indulgence, the writing is good but unfortunately it lacks any semblance of a plot. Rating - 2/5.My thoughts https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Just finished NIGHT FILM. Thought it was FANTASTIC... my really long review is at https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Just started Brother Odd. For some reason Idd Thomas will always draw me in like no other character I've come across yet.
Just finished The Lady In The Van and now I'm trying to finish off The Bazaar of Bad Dreams and World After.

Finished The Drop
by Michael Connelly.Much better than his last few books which were starting to feel phoned in, Connelly is in his element combining police politics and a solid mystery to form an engrossing fast paced read. The Drop though a step in the right direction is still a few steps away from his best output. It's main problem is that it combines two separate stories which don't at all mesh together. The more interesting of the two dealing with the alleged suicide of a power broker is wrapped three-fourths of the way in saddling us with the much inferior serial killer story for an anti-climatic ending. Rating - 3/5.
I just finished The Bazaar of Bad Dreams. It is excellent.
Finished Pretty Baby by Mary Kubica I'm so sick of psychological thrillers about " a girl " noe reading the langoliers by Stephen King so glad for something totally different
Finished Northwoods
by Bill Schweigart. Excellent tale that blends X-Files with Ojibway folklore. If you're interested, you can read my review at:

Finally got my hands on a copy of "If I fall, if I die" by Michael Christie. Just starting out, but so far, so good.
I'm reading Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, a good mix between a biography of Lincoln and a great horror story about vampires.

I bought someone Kisscut for Christmas. The books look interesting.
Going for a DT 4 reread and waiting to see which of my previous reading challenges gets sacrificed as GR can't seem to cope with rereads. :(

I am still early into it but so far it's good. It seems like it is a typical police/detective procedural book.
Finished the langoliers last night really enjoyed it after all the psychological thrillers I've been reading
I'm currently reading Frankenstein by Mary Shelley - can't believe it took me so long to actually read this book :) - and Boy's Life by Robert McCammon - an amazing coming-of-age story. And listening to The Terror by Dan Simmons.

I know what you mean. Frankenstein is going to be read in the near future and I can't believe I haven't read it yet.

Glad to hear you're enjoying Boy's Life - I've had that sitting on my shelf for ages but I still haven't got around to reading it yet.
