I say they are both wonderful reads and between the two, there's something that's sure to resonate with everyone.

Reading Pulitzer Prize Nominee
A third into it... pretty great story of the search for Cibola, (you may remember Randall Flagg's reference to it as he marches across the desert) and the seven cities of gold.

Reading "The Exorcist"... I watched the movie a long time ago, but never got the chance to read the book :)

Currently reading The Lies of Locke Lamora, by Scott Lynch. And just last night I picked up The Name of the Wind, and The Wise Mans Fear :)
I'm reading Horns, my first book of Joe Hill. I like the style and the plot. I hope it continues also the rest of the book.

Lies of Locke Lamora are my next books to buy so please let me know if they're good!
I started the Harry Potter series earlier this year, I'm on book three Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and so far I'm loving it! I know shocking right?

It would be shocking if you haven't read that series and you're posting in the SK topics. :p

I'm almost finished with The Way Of Kings by Branden Sanderson the first in his Stormlight Archives. It has been a great so far however, I was glad to read that this book has a satisfying ending as a solo. Having just finished the Mistborn trilogy I think I will step away from Sanderson for a few books before jumping into Words of Radiance the second book of the Stormlight Archives.
Wolf Of The Plains Epic story of the Mongolian culture, war, political intrigue and lots of bloodLabyrinth Amazing twist of Historical fiction by which the Author show cases two women struggling to protect an ancient artifact, that in the wrong hands will change everything.
The Ruins one scary ass book

I really liked The Ruins. A lot of others hated it, probably because of the ending. For me, the ending fit the story.

Exactly, I loved the ending it was amazing... One of the best books i have ever read
Have been busy with higher studies, finally got a chance after a couple of weeks to catch up on reading. Finished The Scarecrow
by Michael Connelly. An inferior rehash of The Poet, without its sense of danger and urgency; the writing is bland and the book is derivative. Frankly it feels exactly a throwaway read the author writes for a quick paycheck. Nothing about the book is exactly abysmal but neither does any facet stand out which is a a reasonable expectation when you are reading someone as successful and popular as Connelly. Rating - 2/5
I'm reading Stoner and its really, really good. I kind of thought it might have been overrated but its superb so far.
I'm reading Sette brevi lezioni di fisica, a small book where seven physics topics are explained in a brief, simple but effective way. Some days ago I also read Niente ("Nothing"). I liked it very much, in some ways it sounded like a modern version of "Lord of the Flies".
I am re-reading My Pretty Pony. I love the theme, which likens "Time" to riding a pony.
I adore this book by Stephen King.

Hey, Janet, I never heard of this book... researched it a little and found that it's a picture book that King wrote with an illustrator. some call it a coffee table book only in hard cover and it sells for $75 or more. I put it on my amazon christmas wish list and we'll see what happens... seems unlikely that anyone will shell out that much on a gift.

It's also in Nightmares And Dreamscapes. Might be a cheaper option unless you really want the illustrations etc.
Thanks Nancy. This is what I get for not reading enough of the short stories. I'll check it out in Nightmares.
Nick wrote: "Thanks Nancy. This is what I get for not reading enough of the short stories. I'll check it out in Nightmares."Hahah, I´m in the same boat. I´ve never read Nightmares & Dreamscapes (I will one day...) and I don´t think I ever finished Skeleton Crew. I thought Everything´s Eventual was ok but not amazing by SK standards. It always surprises me to read that people think SK is suited to short stories - I prefer the story and character development of his novels - for me, the short stories aren´t enough.
Having said that, I´m going to read Bazaar of Bad Dreams in a couple of weeks - namely because I think the forewords he´s put in will add something to the collection. :)

After I had finished all the King novels and was getting desperate, I started reading his short stories, but I found that I was going through and only picking the long ones, for the same reasons you site Stevo, more story and character development.
The Whitney edition of My Pretty Pony is a much prettier penny than the coffee table book you mention. http://www.abebooks.com/book-search/t...

Nice review, Ken.
i just finished The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. It was AMAZING. hung on to every word. i am now on The Girl Who Played With Fire. i love it so far!
I just finished reading Stoner - fantastic stuff. I was gripped the way Karina above found with The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.
Just finished The Lies of Locke Lamora, by Scott Lynch. Man, what fun I had with those characters and that world. Intense. Now trying to decide whether I just go on to book two, or read something else... Hmmm
Karina wrote: "i just finished The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. It was AMAZING. hung on to every word. i am now on The Girl Who Played With Fire. i love it so far!"Those books just get better and better.
I am moving them up on my reading list. I keep meaning to get to them and they just get pushed back from other recommendations and group/buddy reads on here. Steig Larsson, I'm coming for you! :)
I want to try The Girl in the Spider's Web in the future, but since it is not from the same author, i don't know if i would be making a smart choice...
@Karina there's actually a thread around here somewhere, about just that and how people feel about it.

Apocalypse by plague or nuclear winter. All that dark desolation in Swan Song sort of left me cold... though Swan was great, the ending was just a little too sweet for me. The Stand though....
