I read Unwind and it was very good. I've only read the first in the series, though. This one (Bruiser) is breaking my heart.

I'm reading NAS4A2 as I have been reading and rereading all the Joe Hill books as they remind me of his dads earlier writing.

Just finished Invisible Monsters and will have a lot to say about it... as soon as I figure out what that is. In the mean time I've started Infinite Jest. With a big road trip coming up next week I should be about to make a pretty good dent in it.

Also reading One Hundred Years of Solitude. Just about half way through that one.

Suburbansteve, I love NAS4A2 - it is so creepy! My other favorite is Horns. I just watched the movie which is good, but of course not as good as the book!

Horns was a pretty good movie. I was pleasantly surprised by it.

I'm reading NOS4A2 too. Really like it so far.

I have liked everything Joe Hill has written, but my absolute favorite was Horns. Unlike you guys I hated the movie, but the book was terrific.

If you haven't read it, Pop Art which is a story in 20th Century Ghosts is unlike anything I've ever read before. Heartbreaking and sweet at the same time.

I definitly want to read the short stories book. I loved the other two novels and I think Hill is a great writer. Sometimes I even think his style is better than his father's ( I know, I know PRO-FA-NA-TION).

I need your input, please. My 15 year old grandson says he's ready to start reading my favorite author, Mr. King = hooray! Michael, at the moment, is into magic and cars. I was thinking of starting him out with CHRISTINE.
Good or bad choice? Other suggestion? Thanks!

Betsy, if you have them, give him a short stack of like..4. Christine, Cujo, Pet Semetary, 'Salem's Lot. You never know which one he might pick up first, but odds are he'll read more than one.
How can you go wrong? Possessed cars, Vampires, rabid dogs, dead things. Ah...childhood memories. Good times.

I finished "Unwind" last night and I really liked it. I was at first a little put off at how simple the writing was, but I quickly changed my mind. This was deep, complicated, creepy, touching, hopeless and hopeful, told in a very simple way.
It had a little bit of a "The Long Walk" feel to it, but IMO was overall better.
Bittersweet is the feeling I was left with. Will probably get "Bruiser" soon.

I am telling you we walk a similar reading line! I just finished Bruiser and think you will love it.

Pet Sematary was my first King book at age 12. I was so mesmerized by it. I couldn't put it down and I haven't looked back.

I got into Stephen King young too. It was the movies they use to show on USA. My older brother would watch them, but we shared a room so that meant I saw them too. They scared the hell out of me, but I loved it. The Shining, Pet Cemetery... but the one that really got me hooked and made me start reading Stephen King was the first movie of Salem's lot they use to show on TBS, a very underrated King adaptation. They made another one later that wasn't as good.

I'm reading Pines, I have only read 40 or so pages but it's really interesting so far. I hope to finish it on the weekend.

Betsy I think Christine is an absolut perfect choice if he likes magic AND cars. I would suggest 'Salem's Lot and The Long Walk as well. Let us know how it goes :).

The troop is awesome! I read it last month and really scared me, it became one of my favourite horror novels. The Deep is amazing as well.

Last week I've finished Gerald's Game, a great story!. Now I've changed genre, I'm reading The Way of Kings, the first book of a fantasy series. Wonderful! Full of intrigues, legends, mistery and action.

Cool book. It really picks up in the second half. No one writes action scenes better than Sanderson.

Both awesome books, Night Shift is my favourite collection of short stories and insomnia is great as well, even if I read it before the Dark Tower series I loved it. Enjoy!

Just finished one hundred years of solitude, and posted a five star review at https://www.goodreads.com/review/show.... After listening to 16 straight hours of Infinite Jest, I know I have to drop everything, get the e-book, and do a whisper sync, reading and listening, if I'm going to be able to make any progress with it. I do think it's great and amazing, in it's style and it's story. (Thanks again for another great recommendation, Longwait.) I'm also ready to start a re-read of DESPERATION, my least favorite King book. Feel I owe it another chance.

Glad to hear, Nick! I just started A Naked Singularity by Sergio De La Pava and it's incredible! Written in a hilarious and incredibly smart voice, it could move to.my desert island shelf and I'm only 117 pages in!

I spent three weeks in thrall of Infinite Jest when it came out in hardcover. One of my favorite novels and there's nothing quite like it.

Watchmen is a complete experience and can take while to get through. It's incredibly dense for a comic. I love it. It's in my top 10.

Just finished The Neighbor by Dean Koontz and The Big Clock, a 1940s thriller by Kenneth Fearing. The Kevin Costner movie No Way Out is sort of based on it.

Just picked picked up The Pillars of the Earth, by Ken Follet, and read the first chapter just to get a taste... I loved what I read. Has anyone else had a chance to read it? Any thoughts?
