What Are You Reading Now? Pt 2.
Malina I am almost finished with The Ocean at the End of the Lane, it is really good! Beautifully written and not at all what I expected! Let me know what you think of it! :)

Let me know what you think of it! :)"I've got a review of it up there somewhere, said a lot of nice things about the audio version and the book itself. I loved it.

But this is a novel with a combination of many elements: there are intrigues, policy, cultural difference and mistrust between the parts. All on a mysterious world like Arrakis. Read this reminded me the movie of the '80 and the PC games by Virgin Interactive of early '90 (great adventure!).

"I read this books months ago and I found it a very nostalgic story, sad but also wonderful. The type of book of Gaiman I prefer, more for adults, rather than Neverwhere or Coraline. If you have read other of his books, you'll appreciate this.
Nick I bet the audio was great! Sorry I can't reply directly, I'm on my phone and it won't let me for some reason!
Jessica wrote: "Nick I bet the audio was great! Sorry I can't reply directly, I'm on my phone and it won't let me for some reason!"Gaiman reading Ocean was absolutely sublime. If you have a chance it's so worth listening to even if you've already read it.
Kandice I will definitely have to check it out, I'm a reread we anyways and this is one I definitely wouldn't mind taking in again!
Really got into Fierce Invalids Home From Hot Climates last night. plowed through about 100 pages. Also listening to the audio book of Gone Girl.
TheLongWait wrote: "Nick....I absolutely adore that book. Switters is a wholly original character."I know; the whole thing is great, and the terrific Robbins humor is still there. Love that.
Fierce Invalids Home from Hot Climates was amazing. Loved that one. I am one chapter into NOS4A2 and am excited about this one

Terri wrote: "if I can find the time, I'm about to start Pet Sematary by King"Don't read it alone... with the lights out. I was reading Fierce Invalids last night at midnight with only the light from my iPad glowing. Glad it was Tom Robbins and not Mr. King.
Brian wrote: "Just finished Soulless. Petty good story, but almost a bit too much romance for me. Now i'm going to finish Grave Peril and start From a Buick 8."I loved the Series in spite of the romance. It was such fun to read!
Terri wrote: "if I can find the time, I'm about to start Pet Sematary by King"That was the first book that I read that introduced me to horror fiction and Stephen King as a kid. It changed my life and I'd still one of my favorites today after repeated readings. I hope you enjoy it too!
Pet Sematary was my first King as well. I wish I could remember how old I was. I was hooked from the start.

I think the romance is less...syrupy, for lack of a better word in the rest of the installments. There, but more in the background. I think she just needed to get them hitched in that first one. ;D
I just started THE RED DRAGON, Thomas Harris, the book that turned me on to psychological thrillers in the 80's and.... loving it just as much this time as then. Love the "examination" as to the why behind a serial killer's mind.

I'm done with Gone Girl. And now I'm gonna enjoy reading your comments in the group read section...Right now I think I might start The Eyes of the Dragon, you all know the author, and The Revolution Was Televised: The Cops, Crooks, Slingers and Slayers Who Changed TV Drama Forever by Alan Sepinwall
Alice wrote: "I am halfway through Pandemonium 2nd in the Delirium series by Lauren Oliver. Love it!!"Good to hear that. I read 1st book some time ago, and hope to get to #2 soon.
Just finished Sharp Objects. I really liked it. Flynn seems to know damaged socio/psycho -pathic people pretty well, and can even make them desirable. Just started Anansi Boys.
Amanda, I have Krampus on my to-read list but have been hesitant to pick it up. Looking forward to your feedback on that one.

I really enjoyed all of Gillian Flynns novels.
Anansi Boys is great, hope you enjoy it, Gaiman never disappoints, have you read American Gods?
Okay, finished Gone Girl, finished my 24th script for the cinequest film festival, finished writing and publishing my new novel Avenging Adelita and - while I have some - will send an autographed copy to anyone who wants one (message me if so). Still enjoying Fierce Invalids, etc. Looking forward to listening to whatever King selection is the new group read.
NickGlad you are enjoying Fierce Invalids....Look forward to reading Avenging Adelita in the new year! I am still reading Gravity's Rainbow, Fool on the Hill by Matt Ruff which is tremendous fun, Skinny Legs and All by Robbins and rereading Chronic City by Lethem.

You should read it, Ken. It's pretty good and something different. I think it was written in the 80s.

I read Dune a million years ago, but I still remember thinking that it was the best positive portrayals of a mother-son relationship I'd ever read.
