What Are You Reading Now? Pt 2.
The long walk. What a book! I can't seem to put it down, so sad I'm working and can't read it as much as I'd love too and am relying on bus journeys and tea breaks!

Vicky, I think that The Long Walk is often overlooked. I found it to be a quite enjoyable read. Glad to hear you're having a hard time putting it down.
Just finished City of Night by Dean Koontz, pretty good. Now starting The Chase, the second in the Fox and O'Hare series.
I'm reading the life by martina cole and so far its very disappointing, it seems very similar to another of her books or maybe all her books! I'll keep going with it as I hate to give up on a book
Currently reading an ebook called Progenetor which is keeping interested.JUST finished Full Dark, No Stars. How about 5 stars instead? Best short story compilation done by The King. Was blown away by the fact that no punches were pulled in each story which kept me turning pages, feeling more filthy by the moment as I cringed at the subject matter. All I can say is 'WOW'. Best writing since Duma Key and best fiction he has written outside of the Dark Tower saga IMO.
Hi all. I'm currently most of the way through
by J.R.R. Tolkien and really enjoying it. Its one of those 'must reads' I'm glad I'm finally getting around to it. So many differences to the movies that I would never have expected. I'll probably read something different before moving onto
and I have so many to choose from! At the moment its a toss up between
and
.I've also just ordered
- has anyone here read it? I read the first chapter in the bookshop yesterday and thought it seemed really gripping. I'll let you know when I start that.I should mention Stephen King in this post! - I've been collecting his books this year and now have about 40. The plan is to read
and to re-read
later in the year. See my reading challenge to see how I'm doing. Bye for now.

Vicky, I think..."
The Long Walk is essential King/Bachman and should be read by everyone in this group. Well done you guys.

to pupils/ It is any good as an adult read though?
Andrea wrote: "I'm done with the collection of Short Stories by Philip Dick and I moved on to American Gods by Neil Gaiman. I heard so many different opinions on this book"What's
like in your opinion? Like you, I've heard so many things about it...

Full Dark is great!!

I also finished American Gods some month ago. I liked, but I know it's a complex novel, with so many stories in the main story. I hope you enjoy, because I think it deserves.
Andrew wrote: "Today I started Anansi Boys and I'm reading As The Crow Flies too."I hope you enjoy Anansi Boys, Neil Gaiman is great!
Just finished
, yes, it was a very long book, could've trimmed it down a bit, I must admit I skimmed through some parts and it made no difference. It was a good read though.
I'm reading Irene by pierre Lemaitre which I won in a gr giveaway and so far I'm liking it a lot, I may have found a new author to follow
Malina wrote: "Andrew wrote: "Today I started Anansi Boys and I'm reading As The Crow Flies too."I hope you enjoy Anansi Boys, Neil Gaiman is great!"
I agree. In the last six month I read almost one book for month, covering the most of his main novels.

It keeps kicking me in the stomach but I can't put it down. lol
I'm really enjoying it. It reminds me of The Ruins
Reading and enjoying Swan Song. Also loving Heart Shaped Box. May need to add another book for diversity. Have The Dream Keeper, a book of poems by Langston Hughes and The Shadow Queen by Brtrice Small standing by.

I'm around 100 pages into Lisey's Story
and am having mixed feelings so far. I'm not really sure where the book is heading but hope it starts to pick up a bit more soon.
Michelle wrote: "I'm around 100 pages into Lisey's Story

(It's been quite a while since I read it.) But there are some slow spots and a few concepts that just never worked well for me. I think you'll recognize them when you wade into them. On the other hand, I have it on the list of pretty fair books for non-horror King fans.

Haha, I'll have to try it at some point.
I highly recommend it. I went in with high expectations (Stephen King said it scared him!) I was not disappointed.
I'm about 100 pages into House of Leaves. This one is going to take me a while to get through but I am already in love with the book. Definitely the strangest novel I ever read.
I'm almost done with Wolves of the Calla in my first read of The Dark Tower series. What can I say, I'm loving it
Lianne wrote: "I'm about 100 pages into House of Leaves. This one is going to take me a while to get through but I am already in love with the book. Definitely the strangest novel I ever read."I've been waiting forever to read it, can't find it anywhere :(
Kirstin wrote: "I highly recommend it. I went in with high expectations (Stephen King said it scared him!) I was not disappointed."That is how I first heard about it because King recommended the book. You know a book is really scary when it scares even him!
Almost done with Heart Shaped Box... God, this guy (Stephen King's son, Joe Hill) can write. He's a poet, and his dialogue is miraculous. His descriptive powers may even surpass his old man's. Interesting though, in the two books of his that I've read the super amazingly bad guy is a father figure. Hummmm.
Lianne wrote: "I'm about 100 pages into House of Leaves. This one is going to take me a while to get through but I am already in love with the book. Definitely the strangest novel I ever read."I read that book at the start of the year. Definitely took a while to get through, but well worth it. I've certainly never read a book like it at all! I bought it on a whim because my friend had said it terrified him and I'm soo glad I did. The labyrinth chapter was a favourite part (but confused me endlessly at first)
DT 2- the Drawing if the Three. My second time reading it. I'm planning on re-reading the series. With Mr Mercedes due out soon, let's see how well I do with this task! A girl can dream...

That's an excellent book, Andrew!!"
Thanks. I think so too and I'm just beginning..."
The comments sound so good that I just picked up a copy of it (Swan Song). Also reading Teacher, Teacher by John Locke and am starting the audio of heart shaped box.
