I really liked these books! The television series was not fantastic, but certainly entertaining.

Omg I loved the show! So tragic when it was cancelled. Hopefully the book series is complete so I can get some kind of closure lol Have you read the Wayward Pines series? That's another one that was cancelled out from under me....

I rad the first two of Wayward Pines and watched all of the series. I think it could have gone on a while longer. I actually enjoyed the series more than the second book!

As far as Midnight Texas, the cast was phenomenal! Again, it could have carried on a long while.

Derrick | 974 comments So in January, I'm starting the quest for the dark tower (again) with another group I'm in. I'll be reading the revised version of The Gunslinger this time around. Since The Gunslinger is such a short book, hopefully I'll be able to join you all in reading Insomnia. I've not read that one before but I really want to. I hear it has some dark tower connections of course....

I was in the Boys Scouts for a short time. I got only two merit badges one for swimming and the the other for reading.
Today, I am starting my 48 book.

Brian Sullivan (sullichin) | 34 comments Finished recently-

The Praying Mantis Bride by Dean Koontz
I haven't read much Koontz at all, and not in years, picked this up for free on Kindle. I liked it! It's pretty cheesy, but it's a fun TV-movie type of secret assassin vs. serial killer (widower) type of cheesy.

Lost Boy Lost Girl by Peter Straub
I was disappointed with this one considering the King blurb on the cover saying it might be the best book of his career.
My Review (spoilers)

Currently Reading:
Brother by Ania Ahlborn
Almost done with this one -- it's great!

They can certainly be read alone, but that's Praying Mantis Bride is number three in a series of 6. I read them, and while the very end was a bit of a disappointment to me, they were overall pretty good. And FREE!

message 8343: by Beci (last edited Jan 03, 2021 08:55AM) (new)

Beci (becio) Wizard and Glass: I'm halfway through my journey to the Dark Tower. My favourite book of the series for now

Different Seasons: But I'm reading one novella at season, I'll finish it in spring with Shawshank Redemption

The Complete Works of Edgar Allan Poe: But I've stalled it a little because I find it a bit hard and heavy to read

And I'm re-reading two things that are not really paper books but sound novels (a japanese type of game which is basically a book with music):
Higurashi When They Cry Ch. 2: Watanagashi: Re-reading it since the new anime is out

Umineko When They Cry Episode 2: Turn of the Golden Witch: Re-reading it with my friends

Yep! I picked it up because it was free, short, and I wanted to read something By Koontz. Nameless is a brilliant character sketch, you can really do anything with that. It was fun, I'm on board to read the rest of them now.

message 8345: by Kandice (new)

Kandice | 4387 comments @ Brian, I am way late in discovering this, but there are quite a few of those free six installment series on Amazon Prime. So far I've read Nameless, a modern fairy tale series, a climate change series and one called Out of Line that I am currently reading.

Mike (theneverendingtbr) Nah, I've went with The Thief of Always by Clive Barker ;)

First time read

message 8350: by Trista (new)

Trista (tropikalparadize) | 8 comments @Michael, I really loved Thief of Always...it creates this awesome creepy mood that Clive Barker is amazing at creating. The movie Coraline reminded me of this book, kind of off-beat but the movie also had the weird creepy feel of children running away to another dimension. Funny, when I looked up reviews for Thief of Always, apparently it's an assigned read in some Jr High schools! Lucky kids!
