Aditya Finished Soul Circus by George P. Pelecanos. Pelecanos writing is too niche to attract anyone other than Washington natives or fans of really gritty crime fiction like me. Rating - 3/5.

Aditya Rhian wrote: "Michael Connelly The Poet was brilliant I really don't know what to go for next"

Connelly is at the top of his game during the start of his career, you can stick with him. Most of the early Bosch books are good though sadly the series like many others become a tale of diminishing returns past first 8-9 entries. And if you are looking for police procedurals I would also recommend Tana French's In the Woods, it was a great read.

Rhian (rhianlovesbooksx1f4d6) | 508 comments Aditya I read in the woods I absolutely hated it ha, I will read the scarecrow soon I think I'll stick to the McEvoy books for now

message 5555: by Aditya (new)

Aditya I had seen that French could be polarizing but The Scarecrow was disappointing compared to The Poet. The best Connelly books are Bosch #3- #6, The Concrete Blonde to Angel's Flight, The Poet and The Lincoln Lawyer. You might try one of them later if u want to. Hope you enjoy Scarecrow more than me.

Just checked it out, bears strong resemblance to The Shield, my favorite TV series. I will surely pick up something by this author.

I'm a huge fan of Wheel of Time. I've read all 14 books twice and the audiobook once. I hope you're enjoying it.

the next 4 books you need to finish the series start to escalate then the last 3 books by Brandon Sanderson(finished that last 3 books because RJ passed away) are amazing everything starts to come together so stick with the series, totally worth the finish.

I'm enjoying it enough to get this far anyway. I'm at the point where I have to keep going to see how it all plays out, even though the pacing is really starting to get to me.

Yeah books 6 through 9 is like that, slow pace and a lot of gibber gabber but all for a great cause. Hang in there and the last 3 books the pace will change up and then book 14 BAM. "keep on Keepin on" lol

I agree heartily, Aditya. I loved every single one of Tana French's six "Dublin Murder Squad" books, and I've given every last one of them an energetic 5-star rating. In some ways, I believe her most recent one, The Trespasser, is the best. But you can't go wrong no matter which one you read.

Michael Greco (michaelgreco) Reading Stott's "Apocalypse Hill". It's pretty clear whose style this guy has decided to embrace. It's a good story so far, unpredictable for sure.

I have just read the first three and have already given two of them 5 stars, hope to be catch up to Trespasser within a couple of months. Character fatigue does not set in as she keeps changing her protagonists, so I expect her to keep on being consistently great.

Aditya Finished The Force by Don Winslow. An ambitious, well researched crime novel about corrupt cops reminiscent of LA Quartet and The Shield, it is not as exceptional as either but still a fine book in its own right. Rating - 4/5.

PS. It also got a glowing recommendation from King, so King fans will do well to check it out.
