I finished High-Rise by J.G. Ballard, which I really enjoyed. The only thing I will say is that you need to be able to suspend your disbelief reading this, because there are some things that make you scratch your head if you don't buy into what Ballard is writing. I am now reading The Call of Cthulhu and Other Weird Stories by H. P. Lovecraft. I've read some of these stories before, but I think most will be new to me. I plan on rereading the ones I have already read anyway, because it was a few years ago when I last read some H.P. Lovecraft

I gave him the same but comparisons are bound to happen, it is something he can play down but don't ..."I actually read a few of his books before I realized he was Stephen Kings son, and I liked his work so I carried on reading his books. Actually there is a dedication to Joe Hill in Stephen kings book The Shining.
I’m about done with rose madder I love this book I hope the next one about to start Buick 8 gets my full attention too😆😆😆😆
From a Buick 8 is a good book but it is slightly different from the typical Stephen King book. I think you will like it though.
Hey guys anyone want to read a Stephen king book with me I’m looking to read together same book any takers?
LOL I would Monique but I am already in two Stephen King reading groups. The Dark Tower Series and Stephen King in chronological order. I am just barely keeping up as it is, As fast as you read I wouldn't be able to keep up. But if I wasn't in any other group I would jump at the chance.
Monique wrote: "I’m about done with rose madder I love this book I hope the next one about to start Buick 8 gets my full attention too😆😆😆😆"Hi Monique - Let me encourage you to "play the believing game" with From a Buick 8 to the fullest extent of your ability. Although this book has gotten (unfairly, in my view) soundly thrashed by a sizable number of Goodreaders, I humbly offer to you, as an antidote to all this negativity, my own glowing 5-star review of this book. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
One of these days, I'll bite the bullet and post my own SK "top 10" as so many other Goodreaders have done; I'm confident that when I do so, From a Buick 8 will be in or close to my top 5. Breathe in the characters, the situation, the scene(s); take your time and imagine it all. As mrbooks points out, it's something of a change of pace for King-san ... I'll be interested in hearing how you do with it.

I'm curious, though, about what you're referring to when you talk of "things that make you scratch your head if you don't buy into what Ballard is writing."

Not a big deal to me but I know that it seems to be divisive in the reviews I read after I finished it.
Michele wrote: "I have just now started 'Salem's Lot and I'm aldo reading American Psycho"Salem's Lot is one of my favorites, and have reread it many times. I hope you enjoy it.
American Psycho is crazy on a stick. You may need a shower after reading it.
Have started American Gods. Only my second Gaiman book, Neverwhere being the first. I found Neverwhere decent but not brilliant and hoping this will be better.
Yes it does take a little effort to get through the Gunslinger, but all the others will pull you deeper and deeper into the quest of the Dark Tower.
His Ka tet is growing but we are not full members of the tet we are what they call Kef. If I remember rightly that is LOL
Mystic River by Dennis Lehane
Mystic River is amazing, Lehane was on a roll back in those days. Gone Baby Gone, Mystic River and Shutter Island closely followed each other if I remember correctly and they were all close to being perfect.

I already feel drawn to salem's lot. But with American Psycho I kind of get tired of all the brand nameing haha 😁
Thanks, Aditya. It is the first thing I’ve ever read by Lehane. It was recommended to me by a magazine article where famous mystery authors were telling their favorite mystery novels.
Finsihed Two Kinds of Truth by Michael Connelly. Connelly puts in a lot of effort in the new Bosch novel but it can't be denied the series continues to slide further from the promise it once had. Rating - 3/5.My full review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I usually don't write a long review for Connelly books, there is seldom a lot of complexity to explore. But the milestone 20th book in the series felt like a good time, the review is almost appropriate for all of his past few books.

I hope you enjoy it as much as one can enjoy what is essentially a tragedy. However I am intrigued about the list, share the link if you can, want to see if any of my others favorite authors name their choices.
I loved Lehane's Live by Night! Never thought I would enjoy a gangster story but oh boy I did.. even went to see the movie
Michele wrote: "I loved Lehane's Live by Night! Check out its direct sequel, World Gone By, it is better but bleaker.

Thanks Tim got new suggestions, and good to see some love for Double Indemnity, my favorite thriller/crime movie. Have to check out the book now, kept putting it off cause I have heard Raymond Chandler was not very impressed with the book. His screenplay is considered the definitive version of the story but would be nice to check out how the book holds up.
In still reading Wolves of the Calla. I'm finding it slow going. It sure doesn't hold up to others in the series.
I finished Sleeping Giants. It was very good. This morning I started Boy's Life. I have heard great things about this one.
Sleeping Giants was great Scott!!!!Loved it and told Sylvain he did a wonderful job. I’m looking forward to starting Waking Gods!
Currently reading The White Road by John Connolly. The 4th book in the Charlie Parker series. I’ve read 6 of the Charlie Parker novels in total and highly recommend them to any King enthusiast.

I almost jumped right into that when I finished. It was hard not to...especially the way it ended.
Scott, I read it a long time ago, but I remember really enjoying Boy’s Life.
