Kings of Broken Things by Theodore Wheeler. I had never heard of the book or the author, but so far it has my interest.

A read that deserves a detailed review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I haven't heard of that one. How is it?"
Apologies for the delayed response, but didn't want to give my thoughts until finished. "Elsewhere" is a pretty slight (page wise), as it clocks in at 222 pages. It is another "psychic and a few other random people visit a supposed haunted house" in the vein of Shirley Jackson's "The Haunting of Hill House" and Richard Matheson's "Hell House," though it was not as good as either of those works. It has a twist ending that is pretty obvious, but I enjoyed Blatty's style. It moves quickly (perhaps a bit too quickly), and if Blatty had fleshed out some things a bit more it could have been a very good novel. A good, quick read for a Fall weekend.

Only 50 or so pages in but it has hooked me from the off. Really like the way this guy writes.

I loved the Heart Shaped Box, are you going to read the Fireman as well?

Oh definitely!

Matthew no matter how hard you try you will not be able to erase what you saw in the movie. Just when you think it is gone something will pop up and remind you of the movie.

The Gunslinger (3rd time)
Needful Things and
Gwendy's Button Box
Now I'm reading The Girl in the Maze. OK so far, just a little confusing with time jumping.

I was happy to read other stories about Harry Potter's world and it's good to know more about many characters, some known and other only named in the series.
Today I started The Other Log of Phileas Fogg, an interesting story, with a mystery hidden behind the famous adventure. The plot intrigues me and I'm curious to discover this "other story".

The October Country by Ray Bradbury. Short story collection, with some solidly creepy ones so far ("The Emissary" "The Small Assassin").

I'm also re-reading Skeleton Key around shorter books. After reading It earlier this year and realizing it was 3000x better than I remembered from when I read it the first time as a teen, I want to re-read all the King books I read back then that I haven't read since. Really appreciating it, I had forgotten so much.
I don't know why, but I was always so fond of 'Here There Be Tygers' and I read it several times back then and it was just as I remembered. I had completely forgotten 'The Raft' and really enjoyed the ending. 'The Monkey' was way creepier than I remembered it and I loved that ending as well.

I must be about half way through and I'm really enjoying it. The more I read of it, the more I like it.
I guess you could say it has been a bit of a slow burn.

Mad City by Michael Arntfield

I'm also halfway through "Things Fall Apart" by Chinua Achebe. It's interesting enough, but I'm not in love with the writing. Or characters. Or the plot. I'm not in love with it but I still intend to finish.
