rivka I wonder whether it might be interesting to add a shelf for books that have been searched for by several different people? Stranger with My Face is a recent one (there's actually a fifth time that was recently solved), and there's House of Stairs, and I'm sure there are more.

Caroline (caro7) +1 and put it up high on the page so it's seen early, before someone posts.

message 3: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) Absolutely - great idea.
I'll certainly mark those two; would anyone like to volunteer to scan the existing shelves for more?

message 4: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) Hmm. Apparently this is not going to be easy. Please bear with me.

Caroline, how do you mean put it high on the page? I agree that it should be visible, but where and how, exactly, can we do this?

message 5: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) I'm calling it "Asked for More than Once" because I can't think of a better name. If you can, I'll try to edit it. :)

message 6: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 638 comments can you make group bookshelves where you can feature them - like we can on personal ones (I don't think so...)

message 7: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) Hmm... I don't see a way to do that. I could mark those books as 'currently reading' so they'd show up as if they're group 'book of the month' reads, but I don't think I like that idea. Too bad, it was a good idea, Dee.

So, yeah, I got three books onto that shelf. Now to find others to add to it, and to make it more visible....

message 8: by rivka (new)

rivka You could add a link to the shelf to group's description (if that's not already at max length).

message 9: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) Yes, tx for the reminder, I should do that.
But we all know that too few ppl skip that.
They also skip the 'read-me-first' topics, but I'll add it to them anyway.

Sorry. I only just saw this now; I don't get notified of all the posts I'm supposed to! >:[ I just meant make it really visible somehow...although I'm not really sure of the very best way to do that. It's too bad this site doesn't offer something like color-coding or highlighting--a way to make certain topics/threads stand out.

Railyn (funky-rat) | 243 comments Can you Pin or Sticky the topic?

message 12: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) We can do that - but it would still have to go below the topics about How to Post a Book - and those don't get read by all new members, either.

Btw, I can't seem to edit the description - maybe only the group creator can do that.

*In any case, the main thing is that we have that shelf, and anybody who sees books on our shelves that belong there can get them added.

Thanks for all the ideas!

Cheryl (cherylllr) Interesting. Could be useful as a resource for finding books.

However, not what we're referring to, here. The shelf I created is an attempt to avoid having to solve repeats afresh *within* this group.

Thanks for all your contributions, bkl!

Crystal | 1 comments Cannot believe it... I've been trying to figure out the name of a book for YEARS. And I come to read this thread out of curiosity and it gives me the name of House of Stairs just like that. It has stuck in my mind for years. Thank you.

Teri-K | 305 comments Did this ever get acted upon? Is there a thread/place to look to find titles of books that have been asked for in this group more than one or two times? I'd be interested in reading it, but haven't found it anywhere. Of course, I don't know how you'd figure it out, so it may not work, but it's a good idea. :)
