I have a rule when rating books, unfinished story = -1star. Nothing pisses me off more than an author who stops writing mid story just to leave you with a cliffhanger so you want to read the next book. Going in to this book knowing there were a 2nd and 3rd book you kind of know where the plot is going. You know it isn't going to be all wrapped up in a happy bow at the end of book one. I don't know if it was because I anticipated the ending or just the story was that great, but I couldn't not give it 5 stars.

I am sad that the last one won't come out until next year.

I think someone (maybe you) said it had pasta in it.

Actually, I think it was Pat who said that it had pasta in it. I asked her about it because I wanted to read it that week but she had made an error.

For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon.
But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn't want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.
Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she's made for herself--and realizes that the life she's always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.
