Something New came on tonight and I was laughing. I haven't seen the movie in three years. I've gone to the movies, when it came out. Each time it would come on TV, I wouldn't watch it, because I was busy. Tonight, I've watched it and it made me laugh more than it did at the movies.

I liked Brian. He was real and he wanted Kenya to be real.

Kenya did needed to grow up.

Kenya's preference was a black man, but she end up marrying a white man.

Kenya was being who her mother, brother and friends wanted her to be. Not so much her father. He was happy that she found love with Brian. He talked her into going after Brian. Her mother was such a stuck up person.

Brian was the right person for Kenya. That's why she didn't fit with Blair Underwood's character. She was in love with Brian.

At the wedding, her brother was hooking up with her other friend. He went through girlfriends like running water.

I love my siblings, but I don't play that disrespect stuff. Some siblings think that when another sibling is married, they come before their sibling's spouse and that's not so with me.

It's nice that you have protective brothers Eugenia. Why did your brother introduce you to a black man, if he knew you were with a white man? Did your brother want you with a black man? Is this the same brother who has a white wife?

I'm not saying that you should get in a fight with someone. Fighting doesn't solve anything.

I found what Kenya's brother did, introducing her to the black man was very disrespectful. Even, him telling their parents that she was with a white guy was disrespectful. She's a grown woman. She didn't have to answer to her parents.

I'm really close with my brothers, but if one of them did what Kenya's brother did, I'd probably set him straight. They would never do that, of course, because they're very polite and respectful.

I agree with you, Arch. You have to prioritize, and in a relationship, if your spouse or SO isn't the priority then you're doomed. One of my friends will be getting engaged soon, and he's already failing to stand up to his mother for his future wife, and I'm worried for them.

My siblings know that I love them, but they also know that whenever I get married, my husband will come before them. Just as their spouse would come before me.

New_User, if your friend doesn't correct this now, he will loose that woman. She might not even marry him. I don't believe in being mean to anyone, but I don't play that and not even with in-laws. If my future husband's parents try to be the boss, they will learn quick that I am not the one. Better yet, they will learn before I walk down that aisle.

They didn't show us what happen after Kenya and Brian have gotten married. I hope her mother didn't try to boss things.

Yeah, what worries me is she wants him so much I think she'll take it. I don't want her to be miserable like that, so I'm hoping her in-laws either mellow out, move, or her future hubby gets a bloody clue. I know I wouldn't put up with it.

Yeah, it would be kind of fun to see an epilogue or Where Are They Now, LOL.

I've read what you have said about your brother and I have respect that. I went on to talk about Kenya's brother. You've said that your brother didn't introduce you to a person. Kenya's brother did and he knew he was wrong, because when he seen Brian approaching, he quickly left with Blair's character.

It's been some time since I saw it, but I have to say, I don't remember Something New being very lighthearted. It was another of the more depressing ones, LOL. But maybe if I saw it again I would think differently.

Okay, I think that this thread should be closed. I shouldn't have created it. Although, I love writing tension, I don't like to be amongst tension. I come here to have fun.
