June Challenge - Miles Franklin and/or TBR list!

Oh thankyou Brenda. I can't wait to get stuck into it :)
I think I'll just do TBR this month...I'll double check the lists, but the ones I was interested in, I've read;) And I have PLENTY on my TBR to catch up with:)

Good idea. See how many you can get through in June :)

Hahaha! :)

Sounds good everyone....those of you doing TBR, challenge yourself to read as many as possible for the month;)
I always read as many as possible from my TBR each month but thanks for giving us a challenge which helps rather than hinders!!!

Can anyone tell me, when I'm normally reading something from my TBR list, why it never seems to diminish???? Or might it have something to do with the books I add at the same pace as finishing the others?!!
Kathryn wrote: "Yes, yes, and yes - I am definitely in - but just for the TBR. Like Phrynne, I am normally trying to whittle down my TBR list and at the moment, I've got about 6 library books from my TBR sitting ..."
I think it has something to do with adding MORE than we read Kathryn;P

You're lucky then;)

I find it's completely out of control...my books multiply while I'm sleeping;)

To Be Read List
Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee: An Indian History of the American West by Dee Brown
I read this at Uni; a factual and disturbing book, it pierced my conscience. Made me think of the Australian Aboriginal people. I've always promised myself a re-read. It features on Books Everyone Should Read Once lists.
After that, I've chosen 12 'lighter' books from my TBR list.

I read her book, Milk and Honey a while ago. I still think about the book every so often. It is one of those books that stays with you.

That's the best way Amber...I hope you'll love The Light Between Oceans ...definitely one of my favourites!

The White Earth

Joseph Anton. Salman Rushdie

I might try for a few more if I can but not sure which ones yet. The TBR ones don't have to be Australian,do they Brenda?
Adding one more to this challenge, Autumn Laing

Hey, fellow Canberran :-) You could try Canty's Bookshop in Fyshwick, they are very helpful and will even answer questions on their facebook page if you ask them about a particular book. Check them out here http://www.facebook.com/pages/Cantys-... Hope this helps :-)

She's been around forever. A good writer. She is that kind of author; her books do stay with you.

I only just found out that she tutored Tim Winton in creative writing.

cheers

Hey, fel..."
I'm not sure, there are a few good ones :-) Perhaps Beyond Q in Curtin?
I must admit I don't often have time to search around for a specific second-hand book, so if there's something I'm after, I usually just get it online. I like browsing opshops for the random finds. Mostly I borrow from the library and friends. Wish I could buy more from independent booksellers, but it's not in my budget!

Sounds like heaven! I've only browsed a couple of times with kids in tow, so it's not the same experience obviously! :-D

Part of your challenge for June is to read at least one Miles Franklin winner or nominee either from 2013 or past lists. Then, as our TBR lists continue to grow at an alarming rate, try to lower them as much as you can this month...incorporate the Miles Franklin titles into your TBR if at all possible:)
Make sure you post your choices here!

If your TBR looks like this....read as many as you can for JUNE!
Your TBR reducing doesn't HAVE to be written by Aussie authors, only the Miles Franklin read/s...so make sure you challenge yourselves to lower that TBR and post your accomplishments at the end of June.
So whittle them down.....good luck, and happy reading!
