Dana Bailey I had no problems with the book, I actually liked it. I just wonder and I mean wonder if she was being scrutinized about the book being about her? I think she blogged something about people judging her character. Who Cares, its a love story that I thought was a damned good one, even if they both were a little messed up.

Mochaspresso I read an article on the huffington post about this. It mentioned that one of her books was picked up by a major publisher. I wonder if they put pressure on her to pull it out of concern that any negative publicity might affect sales of her other books? (...and make no mistake, there most certainly would have been some negative publicity if "Until I Break" had gained more mainstream popularity.)

Thank you so much

Wall Goddess I didnt read why she was pulling it yet but will go ahead and say that I really enjoyed this book and hope this will not impact her future writing... she has nothing to worry about she is great!

MissIngrid Z I was extremely disappointed that M Leighton pulled the book. Contrary to what a lot of the messages here are stating that it was over negative reviews, I do not think that was the case. She has written several books and I'm sure has already been faced with negative reviews. While she has not clearly stated the reason why she pulled it, I know that is was more so over the controversy of the content of the book. It may not have been the darkest book you have ever read, but some topics she touched upon were dark especially for her writing style. Maybe her reputation and PR image came into play for future deals? There's a lot of red tape out there even for indie authors. Some topics included accidental murder, bdsm, sex clubs - not taboo topics anymore but not widely accepted either.
I was very disappointed, but can and will respect her decision as I am sure it did not come lightly.

When I finished reading the book, I was notified of her decision to pull it. Here is also a copy of my initial review and afterthoughts.

Kei You know, even if this was a great book, after all the drama it would be even more disappointing if she makes it available again, after all that has happened.

IMO it wasn't dark, probably a little crazy but NOT dark, not at all.

Like I originally said, I read it for all the wrong reasons and that is not something an author should have - readers that read only to find out what the fuss is all about and not in a good way.

She is not the first and definitely won't be the last author to receive bad reviews or hate; I still think that what she did was unprofessional and she should have known better - she does after all have many good books and dedicated fans, she should know how things work.

That's what disappointed me the most, her behavior.

Cleo I was originally going to purchase the book anyway but when I hear it was being pulled. I stopped what i was doing and bought it immediately. I loved this book and I am disappointed other can't read it. I loved the story. Although many said it was very dark, I didn't feel it was. I did feel i was on an emotional rollercoaster but isnt that whet a reader wants? For a book to evoke emotion. I truly enjoyed it.

Eva Luna This it's so unfair... I it's so sad that this happen.

I believe that the inspiration cannot be buried by the will of some readers that cannot relate this story with their or cannot tolerate diversity. I'm so sorry that you feel the need to pull this book, because they are people who understand this story, who love them, and by the way, gets inspire for those who have baggage and try to find some hope in true love, at least on books.

I believe that always some people's will misunderstanding art; because believe or not, writing, it's a special art. And art was created to be interpret as the receiver wants, that it's the magic of it...

I was bless to purchased it and to read it before, so I cannot comment nothing negative about it and really I cannot understand the Big issue here. However, we should encourage respect, for the author (Michelle Leighton), for the story, for the readers, who really enjoy it and love this story, this art, this inspiration... This should not happen again, because if you continue with this practice, what we will left? What we going to enjoy? Always will be haters, but first you have to please yourself as creator, and forget the rest. They can choose something else... And as Leighton, said (on the book:Until I break) Expectation its a bitch!

Please, don't destroy more books, don't burn more character until they are forgot. Please, it's better to educate, if you don't like it, please stop reading. If they prefer could read the newspaper or watch the news, with stories that are really twisted, unloving, careless, raw, more tragically, abusive, pathetic, and their would not able to change the character's selection or their path.

Protect art! Life it's worse!

Cleo Eva I totally agree with you. It's fiction and you have a choice. There are certain types of fiction I just don't read it doesn't interest me. I don't then get the book anyway and bash the author. You are free to choose what and whatnot to read. Just be mature and respectful because authors work very hard on their novels and it is disappointing if someone doesn't connect with your book but if they treat you with respect that's all anyone can ask for.
