Can't edit description of book

Hello, I added a few books to Goodreads, but I need to edit the description for Honker Pig (which I've done before). However, I can't do it at all today. Can someone please help, as I don't understand why? Thank you very much, Sandra

Hi, you can't do this because you are not a Goodreads librarian. Please provide the description for the books and we will update it.

Hi Ellie, thanks for very much for your quick response. Do I add the revised description here? With the other link I can see that Helen has claimed the author profile, and doesn't realise I can't edit it now. Thanks for all your help, Sandra

Helens' home at The Little Sanctuary reflects her happy childhood , having been raised to respect and love all animals and nature. Born in Durham to an English father and Flemish mother Helen has carried this love throughout her life, encouraging the same when raising her own family. It was of no surprise to Helens' friends and family that she would find the need within her to turn to writing to encourage all children to enjoy and grow alongside nature. I think someone got it.

I just moved the author info to the author page, and the author profile is not claimed by the author. If it was it would say - goodreads author instead of Author profile.

I have no idea how giveaway can be listed without the authors knowledge.

Hmmm, I don't understand. I added the book to goodreads and also put it on as a giveaway on behalf of Helen. Then Helen joined goodreads. I was able to edit the description, perhaps a month ago, but now I can't. Helen just said that she thinks, she joined via a facebook link (I don't understand this either).

If I uploaded the descriptions/pictures originally, should it be me, that is allowed to amend the description?

I'm sorry for all the bother - I am confused..

Oh I just saw that you removed some of the description from the book and moved it to Helen's page. Can this not be left with the book, as it is Helens home that is the setting for the book? So you are able to edit it? I'll get Helen on here to comment that it is okay to add the promotion. Thanks for your help!

I will explain.

Currently ANYBODY can add NEW editions for book but in order to EDIT them you have to be either the author OR Goodreads Librarian. Librarian is a status that people apply for, it is not given automatically and you have to be approved for it.

If you add a lot of books in your profile will say "#x top Librarians", but this is because of adding books. If you are librarian under your picture in your profile under the number of reviews will say "Goodreads Librarian."

In order author to become Goodreads Author they also have to apply for it. Please send this link to Helen: http://www.goodreads.com/author/confi...

Since the database has no way of recognizing author names, since there might be other people and authors with the same name authors have to apply and be approved as well. Let her fill that message (in the link) and send it. Approval takes up to two working days (The GR STAFF has to review it first as a precaution measure).
When she is approved her profile will be linked and she will be able to EDIT HER OWN books (But not the images).

Notice it say Goodreas Librarian next to her name. As well the status Goodreads Author will APPEAR on her books next to her name, like this:

I did not see any details, but when she becomes author she will be able to fully edit it and add whatever she wants.

Creators of book records no longer have the ability to edit books indefinitely, unless they are librarians.
