That sounds like a fine combination! I really enjoyed Bring Up the Bodies - I liked Wolf Hall, but liked this one more.

If other people are interested in this subject, some good fictional books are The Kitchen Boy: A Novel of the Last Tsar and Enchantments and a good nonfiction book is The Last Days of the Romanovs: Tragedy at Ekaterinburg.

Have you read Nicholas and Alexandra?
I have to admit - I absolutely love history and historical fiction. This is one of my FAVORITE tasks from this challenge.

All these books sound good, but The Kitchen Boy: A Novel of the Last Tsar and The Last Days of the Romanovs: Tragedy at Ekaterinburg both appear to be <300 ages.

No, I haven't read it yet- it's just so long! I may be tackling it soon though.

Oops, sorry- I checked the ones I was going to do but didn't check my referrals.

Book 1: My Name is Mary Sutter
Book 2: Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers or The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks

Book 1: My Name is Mary Sutter
Book 2: Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers or The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks"
That connection is really too attenuated. If you plan to read My Name is Mary Sutter, you should be looking for a NF book about women trying to become doctors or Civil War medicine or something that actually relates to your historical fiction book, not just any book about bodies or medicine.

Sure thing - MLK and the Civil Rights movement are certainly related.
Sigh..............more books to add to the TBR! And now I may have to rethink my own choices for this task!

The Year Without Summer: 1816 and the Volcano That Darkened the World and Changed History (2013) by William K. Klingaman (Hardcover, 352 pages)
with a regency/fantasy novel set during the year that Europe did not have a summer:

Without a Summer (Glamourist Histories #3) (2013) by Mary Robinette Kowal (Goodreads Author) (Hardcover, 368 pages)
Would that be OK? Thanks!

Fiona (Titch) wrote: "Historical Fiction Time Travel: Hypersleep Event Paradox - Aboubekr Bouta..... and if so, what Non fiction book can I read?"
The book you linked to has no info about the number of pages (book must have at least 300 pages) and doesn't list "historical fiction" as a genre, so it doesn't appear to work for the fiction part of the task. Once you find a fiction book that works, look for a non-fiction book that is about the same person or topic.

Falcon of Siam - Axel Alywen and if I can find a book about the King of Siam?
Fiona (Titch) wrote: "I found a book, but it's not on Goodreads, wondering what I should do?
Falcon of Siam - Axel Alywen and if I can find a book about the King of Siam?"
This one also doesn't include "historical fiction" as a genre. Also, it appears to only exist as an ebook, which means that it won't work here, since books that only exist in ebook form can't be used for tasks that require a specific number of pages, beyond the standard SRC minimum of 100.
If you find a book that exists in paper form, that is not on Goodreads, you can add it yourself, but your best bet is to provide all the info to a librarian and ask to have it added. We have a thread in the SRC for this - we have a number of terrific librarian members who are very helpful with this sort of thing - http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/3....
There's also a general Librarian group on GR. http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/220.

If the paperback is over 300 pages, that info should be added to goodreads, and then the book would work as far as the page length. It would still need to have been historical fiction listed as a genre on its main page.

Fiona (Titch) wrote: "Sandy, If I read The Thirteenth Tale - Diane Setterfield, what NF book could I read?"
I haven't read the book, so I don't know. You need to read the fiction book, or read enough reviews of it to determine what about it is historical and read a nonfiction book related to that. Since pretty much any book set in the past will probably be called historical fiction, not every book labelled "historical fiction" will have an easy answer to this. Take a look at some of the pairings asked about in this thread for examples.

Very clever connection, Valorie! That would work if Fiona found a NF book about biographers that has at least 300 pages.
