Your date/time stamp really messed with my mind, Lisa, since it's only 10:30am on May 19 here. Then I remembered you're halfway around the world LOL Guess I'd better get used to that, since son and his wife are moving to Okinawa in a couple of weeks!

message 56: by Jane (new)

Jane | 206 comments Finished my second book for this challenge. It is my number THREE:

The Last Colony
Old Man's War #3

message 58: by Jane (new)

I have finished my third book.

message 59: by Barb (new)

Barb Oh no, don't slow down your reading Jane LOL The rest of us just need to step it up a bit :) Unfortunately, this was my weekend to work, so I haven't had as much time to read as I usually do on weekends. With doctor's appointments, errands to run and other family obligations, this week is going to be crazy busy, but I plan to read as much as I can in my 'down time.'

message 60: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Jane seems to be in it to win it! Go Jane go! Keep adding books for Mango Tango!!!

message 64: by Barb (new)

Barb Yay Evana!

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 240 comments Haha, Barb, yes I think we are 19 hours ahead of Goodreads time here in the land of OZ.

I'd LOVE to read more, pesky real life responsibilites and all that. I finish a book every 3-5 days depending on the page number. Sometimes 2 if i get hooked!

message 66: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) excellent reading everyone! I finished another book today (not for this challenge as I already had my number four!) but didn't get to read more because, well, watching the Doctor Who finale was much more important haha.

Keep on reading! I'll update the scoreboard tomorrow morning when I update the team spreadsheet :)

message 67: by Barb (new)

Barb I had to change my book #2, as I just wasn't getting into the one I'd planned. I'm still waiting on #4 and #5 from the library, so I've started #6. *crossing fingers and hoping those books come in early enough for me to read them before son arrives home this weekend*

message 68: by Sheila (new)

Sheila (sheilalynn) | 21 comments I am reading, but you guys are amazing! I just can't keep up. But I do plan to have at least two books done by the end of the week for this challenge.

message 70: by Diane L (last edited May 20, 2013 02:19PM) (new)

Diane L Wow Jane! You are really tearing this up!

I'm working on my second book, World Without End (The Pillars of the Earth, #2) by Ken Follett World Without End by Ken Follett which is also a #2 in the series. I expect it to take a couple of days since it is not just a doorstopper but a lethal weapon coming in at over 1000 pages.

For a break I'm also reading my #3 which is Effigies A Faye Longchamp Mystery by Mary Anna Evans Effigies: A Faye Longchamp Mystery by Mary Anna Evans. This is an archaeology mystery series recommended to me in another group and which I have really been enjoying.

message 71: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Oh I like archaeology mystery books! I'll check them out!!!

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 240 comments I've finished a book 2 of a series. I hope it counts as I started it on the 10th May and finished on the 21st May at 5.45pm.

Comanche Heart (Comanche #2) by Catherine Anderson Comanche series Book 2. 419 pages. Finished 21 May.

message 73: by Diane L (new)

Diane L Lisa, a bit off-topic here, but I have a question. I'm doing a personal read around the world challenge and am in southeast Asia, so I'm almost to Australia. I have a couple of books on the history of the founding of Australia. I think one is called The Tin Ticket. But is there an Australian fiction author you would recommend for someone who likes mysteries and historical fiction. I'd like the book to be by an Australian and set in Australia.

message 74: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Lisa, start date doesn't matter, just finish date. :)

message 75: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) I also finished another book:

Thanks Barb!
Oh, I will. I chose to try to finish a whole series. I picked one that I had the most books left to read and would help me with the Decade Challenge.

Such a different cover from what I'm used to seeing:

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (Harry Potter, #6) by J.K. Rowling

message 88: by Jane (new)

Jane | 206 comments There is a lot of different covers. The edition I have chosen is as far as I can see on my Kindle the right one. Mine is the UK edition from Pottermore. My hard cover / paperback books are different again.

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) I finished Ghost Story (The Dresden Files, #13) by Jim Butcher by jim butcher...4*s...05.22.2013 477 pages....

I had already started this book when Steven posted the challenge so now I am going to have to backtrack in numbers I guess...nothing like doing it the hard way but hey that is so me!!! lol

message 90: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Sallie, you don't have to backtrack :)

As long as the numbers are consecutive, it doesn't matter where it starts!

Barb Jane wrote: "There is a lot of different covers. The edition I have chosen is as far as I can see on my Kindle the right one. Mine is the UK edition from Pottermore. My hard cover / paperback books are different again."

Yeah, I just keep forgetting that :) Here in the US, the covers are all rather bold colors:

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter, #1) by J.K. Rowling    Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (Harry Potter, #2) by J.K. Rowling    Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Harry Potter, #3) by J.K. Rowling    Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Harry Potter, #4) by J.K. Rowling    Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Harry Potter, #5) by J.K. Rowling    Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (Harry Potter, #6) by J.K. Rowling    Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Harry Potter, #7) by J.K. Rowling

message 92: by Barb (new)

Barb Finished another one for this:

Larceny and Old Lace (Den of Antiquity, #1) by Tamar Myers
Larceny and Old Lace (Den of Iniquity #1), by Tamar Myers
finished 2:30pm, Thursday, May 23

and I really didn't care for the book! I've read some of Myers' other series, the PA Dutch books with Magdalena Yoder, but I was getting tired of Magdalena's crankiness, so a few different friends suggested reading this series instead. IMO, the main character is just as cranky and nasty as Magdalena! I rarely stop a series after book #1, but this might be one of my exceptions.

message 93: by Barb (new)

Barb Ack, sorry, I forgot you're tracking page numbers too, Steven! I'll try to remember that for my future books *hangs head*

message 94: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) No worries. I can get it when I double check it for the team spreadsheet in the morning :)

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 240 comments Finished a Book 1 . Mine Till Midnight (The Hathaways, #1) by Lisa Kleypas The Hathaways series by Lisa Kleypas. 360 pages. finished 24th May at 4.30 pm.

message 100: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Ok, I'm about to update the scoreboard and our team spreadsheet! :D

Evana, I've heard Ken Follett's work is AMAZING. What did you think of it?

I have quite a few long books (700+ pages) waiting for me... Long books aren't helping us challengewise at the pace that I read. If I read as fast as you, I'd be golden... but I need to get to them soon. X)

And as for you, Karla, there is no judgment. If you look at the other team shelves, a VERY LARGE portion of what all these people are reading are romance (and a lot of it is DIRTY lol). :)
