There is a fantasy novel that deals with Marlowe. Ink and Steel by Elizabeth Bear. It has an interesting twist on who and what Marlowe was.

Good to know!
Good to know!
This reminds me a little of The Intelligencer. Anyone remember that? I barely remember it, but I do recall I thought it had a lot of possibilities.
I think I read it as an audio book...

I just finished reading it yesterday. It was wonderful. I'm really, really looking forward to the sequel.

Can't wait to get back to it. I was doing what I thought would be a quick re-read of Hell Cop, but it turns out I'm taking my time, enjoying every word, savoring it.

Started yesterday, finished it today, really cool and fun! Now we have to wait until next year for the sequel! I'm really looking forward to it too.

I can see how that might happen :-) I read Hell Cop 2 last week or so, and loved it! The stories are so much fun!

How could it slip my mind? "Kit Marlowe" is a character in Karen Chance's Cassandra Palmer series and her Dorina Basarab series. He didn't die; he was vampirized. ; )

I don't know how I missed Jasper Fford's Thursday Next series, but I have. I will be reading those at some point when I have time as they seem to be exactly what my little heart desires in a book, minus the MM love of course. lol.
I'm trying to get myself through a Mercedes Lackey book right now. It's good, but it's lagging. It's book three in a trilogy, so once it's done, I can donate the three books, and move on. But my brain is crying out for something else. I've got two books that are pecking at my brain for equal attention right now: Hell Cop 2Hell Cop 2, and Dead Man's Deal. GAH!

My favorite was Ms. Havisham leading an anger management seminar with the cast of Wuthering Heights. Everybody: "I hate Heathcliff!" Heathcliff: "I hate you all!!!" I laughed for a solid five minutes during that scene. I think it's in book 3.
I've read a German m/m book and it made me sad. I followed the tormented history of the two MCs for 600 pages (view spoiler).
Jordan wrote: "Sus, that sounds hilarious!"It was! It about killed me! But the irony of Ms. Havisham leading anger management therapy was just... LOL.

Harper Fox' The Lost Prince just came out! Yay! :-)I can now finally read A Midwinter Prince and then right away the sequel. As soon as i finish Fall Hard which i started yesterday. In the meantime i also reread Dangerous Ground. A good weekend for reading! :-)
I now have a glut of good books to read RIGHT NOW, just as I'm busy:- the two Harper Fox books which KC's also reading, A Midwinter Prince and The Lost Price (which I can't find on GR)
- In a Dark Wood and The Parting Glass by Josh!!
KC, I thought I was the last person in the world who hadn't read A Midwinter Prince yet (it's on my kindle, waiting for me :D )
I've got three on my Currently Reading shelf right now, which isn't like me.I've got Patrick Ness's The Ask and the Answer on the go as an audio book. I'm reading The Long War by Pratchett and Baxter, but it's in hardback and I can't be arsed to carry it around and am only reading it at home. So I need one to read on my Kindle in my lunch break, which is Charlie Cochrane's latest Cambridge Fellows mystery Lessons for Suspicious Minds.

What a great week this will be! Both The Parting Glass and The Lost Prince are out. Yay!

Hambel wrote: "KC, I thought I was the last person in the world who hadn't read A Midwinter Prince yet (it's on my kindle, waiting for me :D )"I've been saving that one, too. :-)
I just finished Marlowe's Ghost, which was mentioned here sometime ago and it was a fun read. Best lines in the book for me: Craig is like the Bond Steve McQueen would have played. ... You may be right. Okay, we'll say Steve McQueen was the best Bond who never was." (Exactly) :-) Now, I'm reading Parting Glass.
I'm hoarding Harper Fox's books, too. I read two of hers, and then I decided I should start saving them for special occasions. And I've probably only read about a third of Josh's books. I've bought most of them, but I like to wait until I really, REALLY want to read one. One sad day, I will most certainly run out. I was thinking last night that it might be time to read In a Dark Wood, and now that I have the sequel, we'll see how that whole "being patient" thing works out this week. Poorly, I suspect. :)
Johanna wrote: "What a great week this will be! Both The Parting Glass and The Lost Prince are out. Yay!" I just saw The Lost Prince on Amazon this weekend, too, and picked it up. Trying to keep it at the top of my list. Love me some HF.
I have just finished reading
and really enjoyed it. I am now reading
and really loving the way manga is part of the story.

Finally finished the Mercedes Lackey trilogy that was lacking and didn't wrap up the big stuff at the end.
Dead Man's Deal is my next book to be started when I get to bed tonight. I've had my kindle set to the first page for awhile and every time I turn it on to look at something else or go into the kindle store the first line of this novel stares up at me with blinking neon lights and scares me: "They were killing pixies."
What an opening sentence! It's killing me not to know more than that until later!!!
Parting Glass will have to get read immediately after that.

I am home with a cold for a couple of days, and there isn't much to do but read, so in addition to The Parting Glass, which is lovely, I have also read Gives Light, another great story, Ritual Magic, and Child of Fire, thanks to Josh who mentioned this series. And I also finished The Man in the High Castle. And made a pair of baby socks while listening to the I Spy collection, and have slept a lot too.I hope I am better tomorrow, I am yearning to go back to the land of the living. I love being home reading, but I have no patience with being sick.
ETA I am also about to dive into the Lost Prince :)
Anne wrote: "I have also read Gives Light, another great story"A wonderful story. I kept forgetting to buy the rest of the series.
BTW book 4 is for free on Smashwords, the author writes: ''Amazon forced me to tack on a price.''

I am off today as well, not by choice but because my employer had to reduce my hours to part-time (and cut my benefits). :-( So I'm trying not to freak out about the cost of health insurance and the prospects of job hunting in this lovely economy. It's been seven years since I've had to look for a job so I am totally out of the loop. I think I now need something light and fun to read to ease my anxiety, LOL.

Take care, be well soon, Anne. At least you know how to be sick — all that reading, audio book listening and knitting makes me smile even though I know you are suffering of cold. And don't forget to drink something hot, you hear!

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that, Valerie. But I think Josh's audio books can help you, too. :-) Try to turn this into something good — pamper yourself a bit somehow, okay?

Johanna wrote: "Valerie wrote: "Anne wrote: "I am home with a cold for a couple of days, and there isn't much to do but read, so in addition to The Parting Glass, which is lovely, I have also read Gives Light, ano..."Thanks, Johanna. :-) I am trying to look at the positives. More time to read! My job was stressing me out though, so maybe this will be a good change. Originally I was going to resign because they were not making it worth my while to stay, but I'm glad I will have some income until I find something else. The job market just sucks now, unfortunately.
