In the beginning, there's this girl, and she got kicked out of this school in a farming area for drawing waves on her book. She goes into a field and gets chased by this tall skinny guy with a lot of swords. Then, she climbs a dilapidated staircase in a lighthouse and throws a ball into a bowl, and the sea comes in. Then it gets really crazy and there is tons of random stuff. There's this part where people are hunting giant butterflies, and this guy who uses hats to control his slave, and I think there's a fight with a dragon on a boat or something. I'm pretty sure I read this book before and I'm not crazy, but I'm having some doubts... I'd appreciate any guesses, thanks!

I thought I was going crazy for a sec. I mean, there's some random stuff in there.
It's literally the only book I know that is actually that random :) (you might be happy to know it's the first book of a series too)
