message 1: by Sami (new)

Sami thought I'd make a thread to discuss books in private for the Reading Challenge :D It worked last time when we won so thought I'd make another one for the Bodacious Bookies! :)

Megan Just wondering, are we posting our reviews as soon as we get them done or are we waiting until we know whether or not the whole team is ready to post?

message 3: by Vicki (new) - added it

Vicki Awe, I wish you had sent me the link Sami because I had no idea and I haven't posted anything because I didn't want all the groups to see what I'm reading. I am reading Stand-In Groom (Brides of Bonneterre #1) by Kaye Dacus and I'm pretty sure Megan is, too. Which book did you go with Sami? I know we have to all have our books read by Tuesday night if we are to get our 3 points. I haven't heard from K. either. Has anyone else?

I will definitely have my book read tonight, but I was also wondering if we should go ahead and post or not. What do you think Megan? I'm pretty sure Sami is something like 8 hours ahead of us because she lives in England. So what shall we do?

Megan Yep, that's the book I'm reading Vicki! I haven't been able to get back to it yet tonight, I'm about 60% and am going to go read some more right now, but I'm not sure if I will be able to finish it tonight - though I will still try my hardest.

I'm fine with whatever the team wants to do concerning how we post our reviews, but unless everyone gets their books done tonight there really isn't a point in posting our books until Thursday - right? Unless someone else from another team posts a review for the same book.

message 5: by Vicki (new) - added it

Vicki That all sounds good to me Megan. If everyone doesn't finish tonight but finishes tomorrow that's still 2 points. :)

It's all good.

message 6: by Katrin (new)

Katrin Hey sorry, girls. I wont be able to finisg the book by tonight. The book I am reading is: Getting Revenge on Lauren Wood.

I actually wanted to read the same book as you, but they don't have it at my library. ;(

message 7: by Vicki (new) - added it

Vicki No worries K. Hopefully you can finish by tomorrow and we can still claim 2 points. We have to keep the fun in it.

How many points is your book?

Megan I finished Stand-In Groom and really enjoyed it!

I checked K.'s book and it has at least 15 points! (view spoiler)

message 9: by Sami (new)

Sami I finished Stand in Groom last night! Didn't check this thread.. Sorry Vicki I meant to PM you all the link but it must have slipped my mind! :D

Hey sidenote: Do you think Trisha and the other old teammatees have started secret threads too? I'd like to think we're the only ones :D

message 10: by Katrin (new)

Katrin I finished my book (Wednesday). Do you know what counts as the name? There was a Brian and a Casey mentioned, but they were no main characters.

Seriously, my book has all the hidden words? I didn't find "hotel". Guess I have to skip through it again.

message 11: by Katrin (new)

Katrin Nevermind, I found the word. ;)

Megan So we are ready to post our review - correct?

message 13: by Vicki (new) - added it

Vicki Trisha's team didn't.

I can post my review after work this afternoon.

Do we also place our books in our regular thread or are you just going to claim the points for us Megan?

Cool that 3 of us read Stand In Groom. What did you think Sami? I really liked it, especially the non-use of profanity which I personally HATE!!

Megan I think we have to post our reviews and all the details on our regular thread.

It is! :)

I personally love how this challenge is different than the other one I did. The other one posted the requirements on Friday, but you could start reading immediately and time for the team bonus started right away too. This was so frustrating for me because I couldn't always get on right when it was posted and so would feel very rushed and stressed when looking for a book, because if I found a book with most or all the points but I didn't own and my library had a copy, I had a very small window of time to go there and get it before Monday - their hours are much shorter on the weekends. The way it works with this challenge is SO much nicer! I have all weekend to find a book - love it! Can hardly wait until the next movie is revealed Friday. :)

message 15: by Katrin (new)

Katrin I posted my points in the other thread.

Oh I know, I'm excited for Friday, too. Really want to know the next movie.

I've never done another team challenge, so I have nothing to compare. But I am liking this one, too! ;)

message 16: by Vicki (new) - added it

Vicki I'm with you, Megan! I always begin my book right after midnight on Monday morning when we can start reading our books. It's confusing when people are on Tuesday and I'm on Monday!! Lol

message 17: by Katrin (new)

Katrin What time zones do you all live in anyways?

Megan I'm CST (GMT - 5:00).

message 19: by Vicki (new) - added it

Vicki I'm Pacific Standard. It's 4:30 PM here.

Megan I found a book that has all possible points, but I don't own it and I'm not sure I'm interested in reading it - plus I don't know if I can get a copy in time. Anyway, the book is:
Iron Man by Peter David
Iron Man by Peter David

Megan This one has 21 points. (view spoiler)
The Strong Man John Mitchell and the Secrets of Watergate by James Rosen
The Strong Man: John Mitchell and the Secrets of Watergate by James Rosen

message 22: by Vicki (new) - added it

Vicki Megan, does Iron Man include all 5 hidden words?

Megan Vicki wrote: "Megan, does Iron Man include all 5 hidden words?"
Yep!

Megan This book should have 17 points. (view spoiler)
A Darkness Forged in Fire (Iron Elves, #1) by Chris Evans alt. cover Temnota kovaná v ohni (Železní elfové #1) by Chris Evans
A Darkness Forged in Fire by Chris Evans

Megan Another 17 point book (view spoiler):
Iron Dogs by Cliff Robertson

Well this goes part of the way to explaining how you find books so quickly! (I usually wait till sunday :$ :$)

And Vicki it was mainly the lack of sex scenes I enjoyed! lol, I read
Fury (New Species, #1) by Laurann Dohner for a buddy read immediately after and let me tell you, slightly different ethos there. Lol!

Also thanks Megan for so many books! Shall have to check which of these are in my library, and also find some of my own too..

message 27: by Sami (new)

Sami Omg guys! I just saw the 'claim the points' thread. Augusti's team is beating us already! We need to read really high scoring books this week :D

(who am I kidding, I like the competition, it's making things interesting lol!)

message 28: by Sami (new)

Sami I can't find anything else with ALL of the points. Darn Megan you're awesome

Megan Someone on one of the other teams posted this book, but I don't think they realized that it also works for setting so I didn't want to repost it on our team thread in case other teams decide to read it if they know it works for setting too. It's currently free on Amazon for the Kindle, LINK, and is worth 20 points (view spoiler) The book is:

Everblue (Mer Tales, #1) by Brenda Pandos
Everblue by Brenda Pandos

Another one I found that might be worth 20 points is:

And Blue Skies From Pain (The Fey and the Fallen, #2) by Stina Leicht
And Blue Skies From Pain by Stina Leicht (view spoiler)

A few others I found are:

Grave Mercy (His Fair Assassin, #1) by R.L. LaFevers
Grave Mercy by R.L. LaFevers (view spoiler) 15 points

Highland Hearts by Eva Maria Hamilton
Highland Hearts by Eva Maria Hamilton (view spoiler) 13 points

The Homesteader's Sweetheart by Lacy Williams
The Homesteader's Sweetheart by Lacy Williams (view spoiler) 14 points

I'm going to keep looking, but unless something worth 21+ points comes up I will probably just go with Everblue since it's twenty points and free. :)

Megan Have you guys had time to search yet? If so, have you found anything good?

message 31: by Vicki (new) - added it

Vicki Megan, I'm still not home so I'll search later tonight and/or tomorrow.

message 32: by Vicki (new) - added it

Vicki Hi girls, I am going to read Everblue (Mer Tales, #1) by Brenda Pandos . I am doing it as a buddy read with Trisha, so I think she's using it for the challenge too.

message 33: by Katrin (last edited May 17, 2013 10:01PM) (new)

Katrin I think I am going to read Grave Mercy (His Fair Assassin, #1) by R.L. LaFevers .

message 34: by Katrin (last edited May 17, 2013 10:06PM) (new)

Katrin I found some other books, too. But they don't have as many points.

Deadly Hemlock by Kathleen Peacock Bewitching The Kendra Chronicles by Alex Flinn Wolf Pact by Melissa de la Cruz and Of Poseidon (Of Poseidon, #1) by Anna Banks .

message 35: by Sami (new)

Sami Idk if it's because I feel I have no time, so I'm not doing it properly and then spending even more time on it, but the most I've got is 15 pts?? Legacy of the Brave

Has anyone finished by today? Can I at least hope that I haven't let the team down by not finishing in two days.

I'm sorry guys, I'm so stressed! I think I'm going to ask Gisbelle if she can get one of the backups to do the last two weeks of this challenge. I hate letting people down.

message 36: by Vicki (new) - added it

Vicki Sami, I do know what you mean about being stressed!! Don't worry though. I won't finish mine until tomorrow night, and I haven't heard anything from anyone else so I guess we're all in the same boat.

message 37: by Katrin (new)

Katrin I still need some time too. I'm only half way through.

Megan Sami please don't worry about it. It's great if we can finish early, but I think it's better to take the time to enjoy reading our book than to stress over getting the book finished within the first two days and have a horrible experience.

By the way, just wanted to let you know I just finished Everblue, but I probably won't get my review up until tonight.

message 39: by Sami (new)

Sami :) sorry I was just kinda stressed about a lot of things, not just this challenge, which I was silly to commit to when I knew I would have studies.

I finally finished it too! :)

It was quite sweet I think!

What did you guys think of it?

message 40: by Vicki (new) - added it

Vicki I'm still so busy! I have to attend our school's graduation tonight but I'll do my review. I really like it!

message 41: by Vicki (new) - added it

Vicki I am SO sorry that I didn't post last night. After freezing my butt off being outdoors in the cool windy evening for over 2 hours at graduation, I came home and covered up, picked up my NOOK, and promptly fell asleep until 2:00 AM. LOL I did my review a few minutes ago. Summer is now official for me! YAY! I'll post my review in our team thread.

Woot so does that mean you have holidays now??

And i dont know what I'll read K! Just checking for books now.. thankfully this coming week ought to be stress free for me! :)

message 43: by Vicki (new) - added it

Vicki Sami, it means I'm off for 10 weeks!

message 44: by Sami (new)

Sami Vicki wrote: "Sami, it means I'm off for 10 weeks!"

It does have its perks, but it is also VERY time consuming and emotionally and physically draining if you are doing your job right!

message 46: by Sami (new)

Sami Friends With Partial Benefits by Luke Young - (view spoiler) 14 pts plus potential 5 points for hidden words (don't know how to check it sorry)

Just Friends With Benefits by Meredith Schorr and is the same. How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf (Naked Werewolf, #1) by Molly Harper - genre, plot, cover, title, setting - 16 pts and possible 5 hidden words.

message 47: by Sami (new)

Sami I think I'll go for the either How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf (Naked Werewolf, #1) by Molly Harper or Friends With Partial Benefits by Luke Young

message 48: by Vicki (new) - added it

Vicki Sami, How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf (Naked Werewolf, #1) by Molly Harper has all five hidden words. :o)

message 49: by Vicki (new) - added it

Vicki Friends With Partial Benefits by Luke Young has 3 hidden words

message 50: by Vicki (new) - added it

Vicki I might go with Just Friends by Robyn Sisman which has a total of 17 points (none of the names fit) plus all 5 hidden words, for a total of 22 unless anyone comes up with something better point-wise
