Connelly says he'd like the books to be serialized (like Game of Thrones).... one book per season.
Kathryn, if you go to Michael Connelly's Facebook page there's loads of detail about the upcoming Bosch TV series. It already looks like it is going to be great. You can even get to see the pilot episode before anyone else if you're prepared to do a bit of social media promotion for the TV series.
I just finished
. GREAT book. I highly recommend it. My review is on my site Thriller of the Week.Peace, Seeley
Looking for thoughts on the Sue Grafton Alphabet series and Patricia Cornwell's Scarpetta series. Are they good? Are they worth starting and finishing since they are quite lengthy? I've hard that the Scarpetta books start off great but the recent ones haven't been so good. Just curious as to what you all think! Thanks in advance! :)
In my opinion Sue Grafton is pretty consistent with her alphabet series. Of course some books are better than others as always in a long series. but I enjoyed every book. For Patricia Cornwell, I agree that the books started off good (even great) and then the past few haven't been very good at all. The main characters became - quite frankly - unlikeable (to me).
Dorie wrote: "Finished The Dead in Their Vaulted Arches, which was absolutely wonderful. Now I'm starting Night Film, which I've been curious to try."Hi...I just finished The Dead in Their Vaulted Arches - which I loved- now a question. Do you think Flavia will begin a new series of adventures in Canada? After all, Mr. Bradley is a Canadian...just wondering.
I don't see why not, Marliese. It's the main reason I'm so looking forward to the next book now, to see where the author will take us next.

I feel the same way as Barbara. I enjoyed all of the Sue Grafton books except "T". I am reading her latest one now.
Patricia started out strong and I am on her 11th one and I stopped liking many of the characters around book 9. I'm forcing myself to finish up to the 16th book since I own them.

I checked it out yesterday. Looks like it is going to be streaming on Amazon. I'll have to wait as I don't stream my tv shows and I'm not on Facebook. I read that Connelly was very happy with the choice of actor playing Bosch, but I picture him more like Mark Harmon. I see many similarities between Bosch and NCIS's Gibbs.

Aiesha, I love Sue Grafton's series. I think the stories get better and better as the series moves toward "Z" and I'll be sorry when it ends.

Cornwell has been kind of hit or miss for me. I did like Port Mortuary. But couldn't manage to slog to the finish of a couple of the others.
Just finished
Thoroughly enjoyed it, think it will end up being one of my favorites of the Virgil Flowers series.

I'm currently reading The Reversal by Michael Connelly. I love this series, it just gets better in my opinion.
personally I don't rate what I've read of patricia cornwell, she is very popular so was quite disappointed when I found the books dragged, I have only read two of her books, but not in a hurry to read more.
I have 3 of sue graftons alphabet books on my shelf, but haven't read any yet because I don't know if I need to read in order- is that in alphabetical order A to Z?
Maia wrote: "I have 3 of sue graftons alphabet books on my shelf, but haven't read any yet because I don't know if I need to read in order- is that in alphabetical order A to Z?"She seems to recap the previous story in her books. Yes, it starts with A and goes to Z.

I got this one for Christmas and I'm glad to hear you liked it so well. Maybe I will read this one next.

I finished Takedown Twenty by Janet Evanovich. Stephanie Plum has two goals: bring in mobster "Uncle Sunny" for skipping out on bail and help Ranger find out who's killing elderly women. As usual Stephanie and her sidekick Lula are hilarious. Add in Grandma Mazur and Kevin the Giraffe and this is a great, fun mystery.
I just returned from a 2-week sunning and snorkeling vacation in Mexico, where I read 7 books, about half of them mysteries: Crouching Buzzard, Leaping Loon - 4 stars
Road Dogs - 4 stars
The Very Last Gambado - 3 stars
I just finished King and Maxwell by David Baldacci and I loved it. I've read half of this series now and this one is my favorite. Now I'm moving on to Cut to the Bone: A Body Farm Novel, which is a prequel to the Body Farm series. It will be interesting to see how it all began.
I finished Movie Cat by Garrison Allen. Hollywood hotshots descend on Empty Creek, Arizona to film a Western but the unpopular director, C.D. Masterly, is soon murdered. Penelope Warren, amateur detective, and her cat Big Mike help the sheriff investigate while filming continues with a new director. Meanwhile there must be something in the air in Empty Creek because there are scads of romantic relationships with plenty of fun (not graphic) hijinks. Eventually the mystery is solved in a surprise twist. There were a lot of characters in the story and I had some trouble remembering who was who. All in all I'd recommend the book as an entertaining light mystery.
Finished Full Black by Brad Thor. I like it a lot! Only two more in the series and I'll be caught up.
Curlyhair wrote: "I'm currently reading The Reversal by Michael Connelly. I love this series, it just gets better in my opinion."I agree Curlyhair. Good series!
Just finished SUSPECT by Robert Crais, a stand-alone by the author of the Elvis Cole series. If you love thrillers, you'll love this one. But particularly if you are dog lover you'll relish this tale about two wounded warriors, an LAPD patrolman and his K-9 veteran of Afghanistan who try to unravel the mystery of who killed the cop's partner-and nearly killed him.
I finished
. I was disappointed with this book. I disliked many of the characters. Didn't care for the plot. I had to push myself to finish it. I only felt this way one other time on this series which was when I started but didn't finish

Jannene, sorry to hear you didn't like W. It's one of the books on the pile I will be reading next. T was actually my favorite in this series so maybe I will like W.

Malina, I really liked this book and I thought it was pretty funny throughout.

I'm currently reading Death of a Ghost, an Albert Campion mystery, No Good Deed, a Sonora Blair mystery and Neverwhere.
Finished listening to Death of a Witchlast evening. Always enjoyable. A decent mystery but it's really the characters, Hamish, Angus, Jimmy, DCI Blair, Priscilla, and Elsbeth that keep me coming back.
Just read two by Carl Hiaason, Strip Tease and Tourist Season. I usually like Hiasson's work a lot when I want some light mystery.Neither disappointed but I didn't like them as much some of his other work. I was a little disappointed in Tourist Season because the main character is a former newspaper reporter. Does every writer who was a former reporter have to use this old saw? I like Michael Connolly but he does the same thing. I realize a writer usually draws from experience or training but it gets old. I get tired of Stephen King in the books where the main character is a writer.
Finished Reunion in Death, which was good, now concentrating on The Witches of Eastwick and Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch.
5/41 - Just finished Glided Feathers by J. Woods an extremely well written book that's one part romance, one part fantasy, and a little part nightmare, which I greatly enjoyed
6/41- Just started Virginia is for Mysteries which is a compilation of multiple authors and short stories, one of whom is Fiona Quinn, a wonderfully nice author I met on Twitter and I look forward to reading.
7/41 - Next up will by Eden Fell by Lily a Canadian Author who is continually making me laugh here at Goodreads and this book looks really wild and little insane and I can't wait to dig into it

I just started reading
Rasputin's Shadow. I am hoping for a better novel than Zoo by James Patterson that I just finished. Zoo was flat characters and lifeless storytelling.

There is a Bosch tv series coming out? Hadn't heard about it.
