You have come to the right place for the history lover, Fausto.......you will find much here to make you happy!! Since you didn't specify a particular era or topic, why not browse our home page and find things that catch your attention. Home Page
There are many other folders where you can discuss topics that interest you.
Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you comment. (There is a link on the top right of the comment box). It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them.
When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text. Because it is on the bottom, it calls the reader's attention to the book/author and increases the readability of your posts.

Hiya everyone,I'm Bryan, an engineer in the north bay area California. History is irresistible and enlightening to me, and I like to read all types. Lately I've been interested in 19th century American and European history, and also international bronze age history. The book club main page really impresses me with the massive diversity of history to explore!
Good to have you with us, Bryan. You used the right word when you said "irresistible" to describe history!!!! Take a look at the link below which addresses one of your favorite topics.American History

Welcome Jill, Tom, Steve, and Bryan! We're glad to see you here at the History Book Club. Jill has given you some great information to get started. Looking forward to seeing you in some discussions.
Hi everyone, my name is Jason. I live in Evanston, Il. My reading interests primarily revolve around the American Presidency and its history. My two favorite US Presidents are FDR and JFK, but I am fascinated by Richard Nixon - a psycho/sociopath if there ever was one! Otherwise my favorite eras of Study are from the Roaring Twenties up to Watergate/Ford/Carter. I also like to read books on Hollywood stars and historical fiction.2015/16 finds me trying to study up on the lesser known wars (1812, Mexican-American, Spanish-American primarily) and my lesser-known Presidents (Polk, Teddy R., Taft, Harding, Coolidge, Ford, Carter).
A warm welcome, Jason. You picked a great time to join us as there is a free book offer and subsequent book discussion open on the new Richard Nixon book by Tim Weiner.. Go to the link below to sign up.One Man Against The World

My name is Caroline and I am from Australia. My father is originally from Holland and my mother from Belgium, I have lived in Holland and travelled extensively through Europe many times. I have always loved History from a young age and I have been fascinated with many aspects of History, I can spend hours in small villages in Europe wandering around and finding the most fascinating things. I have always preferred to read books based on true facts and always gravitate to History books.
It is fascinating to read about what has transpired and I particularly like European History. I sometimes suffer from lack of ME time and that has an impact on my stages of lack of reading.
I look forward to being a member of this Group.
Best Wishes,
Caroline

I was just picking up the thread on Europe when you must have looked at it. Our timing is not in sync!!!!
That message was to Bentley, Caroline. We were just kidding about our own timing of posting information. You are enjoying the midday sun of beautiful Australia, you lucky person!!
Thanks Jill for clarifying that. Unfortunately it is cold and raining today, not like the beautiful spring weather we had last week. I was a goodreads member for about 5 years and that account has vanished so I created this new one and am basically starting from scratch. All my information about previous books, etc. appears to have vanished into cyber space!
Oh no....did you have a computer crash? Well, this is a good place to start over.....lots of nice members here who know their history. I think you will enjoy it. I guess it late winter/early spring down under the Southern Cross, so one never knows what the weather will bring.
I am very glad to join this group as I am an avid fan of history. Four years ago, I was laid off from my job and to keep myself busy in between interviews leading to landing a new job, I started a history book collection. The collection started out as books written by or about presidents. So far I have collected about 200 books of which I have read about 50+ so far. My goal is to eventually collect and read every book ever written by every president (I am not counting diaries as they are quite time consuming not to mention a bit boring.)
Also I want to collect and read at least 2-3 books very good books written about every president. This is a collection I plan to leave to my son when the time comes.

It is Spring, the weather here is very changeable, we can have 4 seasons in one day. Christmas day can be 110F or 60F. I look forward to participating in this Group.

The other day a great idea popped into my head that could have saved me at least $1,000...use the local library for books that I want to read but not necessarily want to keep. Otherwise, I will end up leaving behind a library that will end up being disposed of because not every book will have much value.
This thread is for new members who are introducing themselves - please take these conversations to a PM. Off topic.

Hello everyone,My name is David and I'm from Romania.I'm studying classical philology at the University of Bucharest.I've always been fascinated about Ancient Rome and I wish to translate as many as books as possible from Latin into Romanian. Some of my favourite topics are the civil wars and the Augustan Propaganda.I also enjoy reading Greek literature, espcially tragedy(Sophocles' Ajax is my favourite play).Besides classical antiquity I'm interested in the Renaissance.I'm very glad to join this group.
Hi! My name is Precy and I'm from the Philippines. I'm currently studying Materials Science and Engineering at the University of the Philippines. My curiosity and interest in history led me to goodreads. Fortunately, I found this kind of group here. Honestly, I haven't finished or started any book yet about history. I don't know what book to start with. Do you have any suggestions? I'm planning to read some books about World War I and II. As of now, I just started collecting visual history books. For me, they are the written museums. You stroll around by reading them. As I always believed, going deep into history is the most authentic time travel one can experience. I hope this group will be able to help me appreciate history more. Thanks! :)
Hello Everyone -I've been on Goodreads for a number of years and came across this group while searching the Goodreads group. While I can't say I have read a lot of history books, I do enjoy history thru visits to museums and films/video series. I do have a lot of history books on my to read list though. Just finished David McCullough's Wright Brothers and really enjoyed that. So I am looking forward to discussing these history books with other people who have this same type of interest in this group. Also I look forward to reading the groups reviews on books to see what may interest me.
Little bit about me: I live in Michigan in a suburb of Detroit. Lived in Michigan all my life but travel around quite a bit.

Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you comment. (There is a link on the top right of the comment box.) It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them.
When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text. Because it is on the bottom, it calls the reader's attention to the book/author and increases the readability of your posts.
