What book are you reading?

Fiona, where do you get all your audiobooks? Do you order them or do you download them from a website? I've been getting into more audiobooks recently and was just wondering.

I usually look at the library for audiobooks, since I'm unlikely to listen to them again. Paperbackswap has them for trade but you have to use two credits for an audio book versus just one credit for a book.

I get mine from Library or Ebay. I tend to use library copies more as they cost £1.10 for 3 weeks and my friend's cost her £2 for 3 weeks as well.

I've been getting mine at the library, but usually it's because the book I want isn't available right away in hardback. I will have to go around and actually look through the audiobook section and see what they have.

Never rated The Lost Symbol last nite, cos I couldn't get into it. Maybe his last 1 I just can't understand. Might need to read it instead of listening to.

I'm reading Claimed By Shadow by Karen Chance at the moment. I bought this before I read Touch the Dark and if I had known what that would have been like, I wouldn't have bought this one. I will give it a chance but I found Touch the Dark quite a hard book to get into and this one seems to be the same so far.

Jo, how do you like Shiver so far? It sounds really good. I would have picked it up already if I wasn't trying to go through my TBR at home before getting into any new books.

That's so awesome. It makes sense that the UK keyboards would include those symbols.

I am reading Fire by Kristin Cashore. I am enjoying her fantasy books. Next I will be reading Wicked Witch & Curse.

I am curious about those two books Linda Grace have to keep us all updated! Ummm also no pound symbol on my keyboard talking only in $dollars$ for me. I dont even have a cents symbol!!

Haha I don't have a cents symbol either. I've looked for one before and the only I have found I can get a cents symbol is by going to Microsoft Word, adding the symbol and copy/pasting it.

I am loving Fire. I would say I like it better than Graceling, but I read that book a while ago and so I am keeping these two books completely separate in my mind (not going to compare them). I will say that if you liked Graceling, then for sure you will like Fire because of the author's writing style. If you haven't read either yet and you like a good fantasy book, then for sure you should pick up either/both! :D

I can't wait to read Cathing fire! i just have to get a hold of it. I asked my english teacher about the pound symbol and she said startd telling me about how one time she saw a German keyboard. it had no "Q" and some other letter. it's weird when you think about it.

Catching Fire was really good. I bought mine at the local Wal-mart because the library was going to take a while to get it and then there were already 8 people ahead of me for the 1 library copy.

I have the whole Gregor the overlander series also written by Collins she dose a good job with suspense and action gets the heart pumping!

Jo, what do you think of City of Bones? I enjoyed that series. Actually, I guess a better way to say it would be: I breezed through that series! I finished all 3 in like a week. I'm glad I didn't have to wait for the sequels to come out because I probably wouldn't have picked them up. :) I liked the series as a whole, from start of book 1 to end of book 3. However, there were a lot of parts in between that, if I stopped reading the books there, I would have hated the series... let me know what you think.

Usually I read something based on my mood. I get in grooves where I will read 5 or 6 of a certain genre. Lately its been westerns but my tastes are really all over the place.

That's awesome. I have never read a western, but not because I don't like them. I just have never thought about it before. Do you have any favorites in the western fiction genre? I would really like to see what I think about this genre! :)

I love the simplicity of Louis L'amour the good guy always wins, the hero always gets the girl, not realistic but comfortable, good action with a hint of romance, for something more realistic or gritty I like Ralph Compton I would recommend either author for western fiction, or Larry McMurtry's Lonesome Dove.

I didn't like Lord of the Flies. There are so many better books we could be reading for school. I think schools should assign some classic novels and some newer ones instead of using all older books. Just because they are old doesn't make them better!! :)
