I tend to be drawn to post-apocalyptic, patriotic, and humor books, but I will read (and review) just about anything!
I have an eReader (Kindle) but I hate it! I love the feeling of holding a real book as I thumb through the pages and go on a new adventure with the turn of the page! I don't think I'll ever be a big fan of all this new book technology.
I love making new friends, so everyone can feel free to add me if they like. If you need a review, a vote, a comment, or anything else just let me know and I'll do my best to help you out.
For more information on me, or my blog, stop by my GoodReads page and check out my profile.

Same... as much as I love reading on my iPad (my dad refuses to buy me a Nook or Kindle, I like haaving a real book in my hand as I read. I prefer buying a real book over buying it on an eReader.

I love love love book suggestions and can't wait to find some awesome new books to read!!!!! :)
I just want to say welcome to all the new members. I'm really happy to find so many dystopian lovers.
:]
:]

I love anything Lovecraftian, but also sci-fi and fantasy.
Currently, I'm writing a dystopian story whilst taking a hiatus from another project and enjoying it immensely.
Favourite dystopian novels would be -
I am Legend by Richard Matheson
The Windup Girl by Paolo Bacigalupi
V for Vendetta by Alan Moore (technically not a novel. Rules are made to be broken)

The reason I love this genre so much? Like a drug with that first high that you will be forever chasing, Orwell's Animal Farm was to me. In every book I'm searching for that chill, that surge, that haunting realisation of our mortality, not just as individuals, but as nation and state. It uncovers the very core of mankind and power, and the implications of such power in hungry hands. That chill, that moment, came many times in Animal Farm, but one part in particular.
"...out from the door of the farmhouse came a long file of pigs, all walking on their hind legs...out came Napoleon himself, majestically upright, casting haughty glances from side to side, and with his dogs gambolling round him."
So I had found my drug with this.
The dystopian genre made me feel, with every inch of my mind and body.
And since, I have been chasing my high, working my way through the classics and now onto more lesser known texts.
Which is why it is an absolute pleasure to join this group, to share book suggestions and in turn, share joy!

I'll be lurking, and enjoying your comments, sitting comfortably here at the back with a cup of tea, a cat on my lap, my e-reader, or a book, or an audiobook.
I've never read Brave New World, which is this month's group read, so I'm looking forward to it.

Hi Elisa – Welcome. I am sure you will find many, many suggestions of dystopian books here. I found everyone in this group welcoming and helpful; please don’t hesitate to join in. One of my favorite authors is Sheri S. Tepper, I really liked her The Gate to Women's Country or maybe Genesis by Bernard Beckett. There are so many great reads out there, enjoy!

Hello Elisa. You are not the only non-native English speaker around here and as we are very friendly, you can post without being too hard on yourself regarding your grammar and idiom use. [My English is awful and I often don't phrase myself correct which leads to misunderstandings.]
Thank you for saying Hi despite your shyness and if it is too much to post in the group you can always send me PM [if you need].
@ Susan, I loved "The Gate to Women's Country". I will be re-reading it maybe next year.

ME and a friend of mine are fans. I think it's much better then friends. My latest addiction was 2 broke girls but I guess you have to be a girl and broke to get the humor. Fav quote: "I'm too poor to be a proper alcoholic" Someone must've heard me saying it!

Yes, but I abandoned it lately. It's a really nice twist of all those fairy tales.
I don't know if you have acces to 4OD it's a UK channel and there is online streaming, I started watching the returned which is a French tv mystery show about people that die but come back. It's surprisingly nice.
But 2 broke girls is in my top list for comic shows. I mean they have a horse and leave in the getto.
