SOLVED Sci-Fi, blended species, different worlds [s]

Hope someone can help with this one...

It was a series of books actually, can't remember how many but the storyline is about the hero who travels to several different worlds where the human species has been blended with some other species to make them able to survive the new world. For instance, there was a world where the humans were blended with cows and they were Hindus. and there was world where the humans were blended with seals and lived in an aquatic enviroment.

That's about all I remember. Hope someone can recall this series. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure this is a series by Jack L. Chalker called Rings of the Master. There are four books: Lords of the Middle Dark, Pirates of the Thunder, Warriors of the Storm, and Masks of the Martyrs.

WOW!!!! That was fast and so awesome that you knew it! I have been trying to recall the name of this series for years and my BIL suggested that it was a Chalker series but none of the blurbs seemed to be right. With your suggestion I did a little more checking, and sho'nuff, that's it!

Interesting that it turned out to be Jack L. Chalker. The description reminded me of his "Well of Souls" series.
